Based on the offseason changes and Jacksonville’s draft, many believe the Jags increase their win total to at least 6 games. Jacksonville’s win-loss total is 6 ½. Check out reasons the Jaguars win more than 6 games, don’t win more than 6 games, and a final NFL Betting analysis.
Jaguars Win/Loss Total Prediction for the 2022 Season | NFL Betting
2022-23 NFL Regular Season
- When: Sep. 8, 2022 – Jan. 8, 2023
- Jacksonville Jaguars Win / Loss Total Odds: 6 ½
Why the Jacksonville Jaguars will win more than 6 games
The Jaguars shored up their offensive line. Jacksonville re-signed left tackle Cam Robinson. Almost as important? They signed former Washington player Brandon Scherff.
Scherff is one of the top interior lineman in the NFL. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence should excel playing behind Jacksonville’s O-line.
The Jaguars also improved their defense. Jacksonville made Georgia defensive end Travon Walker the top pick in the draft. They added corner Darious Williams, a former Ram, to play opposite Shaquil Griffith.
Why the Jacksonville Jaguars won’t win more than 6 games
The schedule isn’t as easy as one might expect. Even though Jacksonville ended 2021 with the worst record in the NFL, the AFC South must play teams from the NFC East.
Three teams from the NFC East: the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Commanders, are playoff-caliber teams. Even the New York Giants will be tough to beat.
The rest of the schedule isn’t any easier. Indianapolis and Tennessee can both make the playoffs. So that’s eight games where Jacksonville will have to step it up.
To make matters even more difficult, the Jaguars not only must play the NFC East, but they must also play the deep AFC West. All four teams in the AFC West, the Chiefs, the Raiders, the Broncos, and the Chargers, can make the playoffs.
Final Betting Analysis: Will the Jaguars win at least 7 games?
At first glance, it doesn’t look like the Jaguars have much of a shot. Jacksonville begins the season at Washington, at the Los Angeles Chargers, and at Philadelphia.
That’s 3 or 4 losses, right? Maybe not. The Jaguars will head into the season under the radar. Also, the team is talented on offense and defense and there’s no doubt that quarterback Trevor Lawrence will improve.
The key for Jacksonville is to mesh on offense under new head coach Doug Pederson. The defense should be good. So if the O-line can protect Lawrence, the Jaguars can win some games.
Heading into their bye in the eleventh week, the Jaguars should have a 4-6 record. Wins should happen versus Indianapolis, the New York Giants, Houston, and either Denver or Las Vegas.
Then after their bye, the Jaguars should win at least 3-of-7. The 3 likeliest wins are at Detroit on Dec. 4, at the Jets on Dec. 22, and at Houston on Jan. 1. But if the Jets beat Jacksonville, the Jags should still come up with a win in NFL Week 18 at home versus Tennessee.
Any way we look at it, the schedule sets up for Jacksonville to win at least 7 games.
