With the clock ticking down towards the official start of the 2019 MLB season, it’s time to start thinking about who to put your money on to win the World Series. It’s never easy to try and come up with a winning bet before a pitch is thrown or a ball is hit in anger, but now is when you are going to get the best MLB odds on the team that you really like. With all of that in mind, we are going to look at the favorites to win this season, as well as some smart picks, and a couple of dark horse teams, so let’s jump right into it.
2019 MLB Season Favorites, Smart Picks & Dark Horses
It probably goes without saying that the Boston Red Sox are coming into the season as the favorite to win it all. After all, they went to the World Series and won it without breaking too much sweat last season. Their biggest competition this season may well come from their biggest rivals, as the New York Yankees also look ready to make another run at the crown. Those two will almost certainly be part of the playoff picture in the AL.
The Houston Astros are also well worth a look, as they are just a couple of years removed from a championship and still have most of their key personnel from that win on the team. You also cannot look past the Cleveland Indians in the ALAs far as the NL goes, it is once again be the Dodgers, the team that has lost in each of the last 2 World Series that are among the favorites. The Chicago Cubs are also up there in the eyes of the bookies.
As we mentioned earlier, both the Red Sox and Yankees look as though they are going to be playoff bound. Picking either to win the East would not be a bad bet, although you are looking at a bit of a coin flip. Perhaps the easiest bet to make is to take the Cleveland Indians to win the AL Central.
They are far and away the best team in that division and could potentially have it locked up early. The odds on them are not going to get any better, so now is the time to get in on that action. The Houston Astros also look to be a solid bet to win the division and are available at a decent price right now.
In the National League, everyone is sure to be looking at the LA Dodgers, but I am not so sure they even win the division. You can get the Colorado Rockies at very decent odds right now, and I am looking at them to win the West and cause a bity of a ruckus in the postseason.
The Atlanta Braves were a surprise entrant in the playoffs last season, but they were a young, inexperienced team who crashed out early. They are going to be better this season, so look for them to make a bigger impact. The St. Louis Cardinals did not miss the postseason by much last year, and with a couple of very strong offseason additions heading into this season, they have all the makings of a dark horse.
