One of the most heralded squads heading into the 2024 Major League Baseball Season are the Boston Red Sox. Nobody expects the Red Sox to win their division, much less take the American League Championship Series. If the Red Sox win the World Series according to most baseball experts, pigs are flying somewhere in the world. But although nobody believes in the Red Sox, upsets happen in baseball.
What are the odds on Boston to win the ALCS, the Fall Classic, and the AL East and does Beantown have any shot?
This means, we are going to look at their Boston Red Sox odds to win the American League East, the American League as a whole, and their betting odds to win the World Series in 2024. Let’s get it started:
2024 Boston Red Sox Season: Betting Odds to Win the World Series | MyBookie US Baseball Preview of the Season
2024 Boston Red Sox | 124th season for the Boston Red Sox franchise

2023 Boston Season
Record: .481 | 78–84 – H39-42 – R39-42
AL East 5th Place
Red Sox to Win the AL East +1275
The four other teams in the AL East, the Yankees, Blue Jays, Orioles, and Rays, offer lower odds to win the division than the Red Sox.
But the Red Sox could surprise big time this season. It starts with pitching. Projected ace Brayan Bello is a 24 year old from the Dominican Republic who went 12-11 last season with a 4.24 ERA. With improvement, Bello could post an ERA down below 4.00. With massive improvement, Bello might end up with a close to 3.00 ERA.
Lucas Giolito is supposed to be one of the better starters in the AL. But Giolito had a terrible 2023. If Gio bounces back with a great season, who knows? Maybe, the Sox get it done. At the odds, Boston for sure is worth a look.
Is Boston worth a bet to win the AL East: Yes
Red Sox to Win the AL Championship Series +2000
Pitching can carry you to a division title. But you’re going to have to hit well if you want to win the pennant. In that sense, Boston could be in store for an upset ALCS victory.
The Red Sox have power and average hitters up and down the lineup. DH Masataka Yoshida had just 15 home runs last season. If Masataka hits more home runs, watch out because Rafael Devers bombed 33 and Tristan Casas went yard 24 times.
The average hitters must do their part. Trevor Story, especially, must bounce back from a horrific .203 average he posted in 2023. If Story gets it together, the lineup has massive potential.
Is Boston worth a bet to win the ALCS: Yes
Red Sox to Win the World Series +4100
The best World Series betting strategy is to choose a team that figures and to choose a team that could potentially pull off a massive upset.
So in that case, Boston has a good shot of being your underdog World Series play. The Yankees are the favorites almost every season to win the ALCS and they often fail. The Dodgers have a lot of fresh players and an ace in Tyler Glasnow that may not be one hundred percent.
So why not take a shot on an underdog and then look for a team that figures to win? Nobody says you can’t bet two teams to win the Fall Classic. If Bello and Giolito rock it on the mound, and Devers, Casas, Story, Yoshida and the rest of the lineup coalesce, who says the Red Sox can’t be this season’s Arizona Diamondbacks?
Is Boston worth a bet to win the World Series: Yes

Boston Red Sox Betting Prediction: Road to the MLB 2023 Season
Previous Betting News
With Opening Day just a few weeks away, fans around the country are clamoring to see how their teams will do this upcoming season.
The American League East saw three teams get into the playoffs in 2022, with the New York Yankees making the ALCS. With the division expected to be a gauntlet again this year, let’s take a look at how the Boston Red Sox stack up for the 2023 season.
Check out MyBookie’s Red Sox betting odds and predictions for MLB Season.
Boston Red Sox: 2023 Season Prediction
Current Odds
The Red Sox currently have the fourth-best odds of winning the AL East at +2000, only ahead of the Baltimore Orioles at +2500. Given the other three teams (Yankees, Blue Jays, and Rays) are all +300 or better, the Red Sox are still seen as longshots.
In other odds, the Red Sox are +3000 to win the American League, and they are +6000 to win the World Series in 2023.
Pitching Staff
This will be an interesting season for the Red Sox on the mound as they are hoping for a lot of good luck in terms of health. Chris Sale (34 on Opening Day), Corey Kluber (37 by mid-April), and James Paxton (34) are the top-three starters. Combined, they haven’t even thrown 350 combined innings since 2019, and that is keeping in mind Kluber threw 164 last year for the Rays.
In fact, Paxton is already on the mend after suffering a Grade 1 hamstring strain in a spring training outing, meaning he is likely unavailable for Opening Day. With Bryan Bello (forearm) and Garrett Whitlock (hip) also likely to start the season on the injured list, that leaves Nick Pivetta, Tanner Houck, and Kutter Crawford to round out the top five with Sale and Kluber.
Offense
Without a doubt, seeing Xander Bogaerts leave in free agency was a blow for the Red Sox organization and their fans. He and Rafael Devers created a one-two punch on the left side of the infield that was amongst the best in the majors.
Now, Devers is left to be the staple in the offense by himself. Last year, the 26-year-old slugging first baseman hit .295/.358/.521 with 27 home runs, 88 runs batted in, and 84 runs scored. Devers will likely be on a shortlist again this year to compete for the AL MVP.
The question is whether he will have any protection in the lineup. The biggest offseason acquisition for the Red Sox was slugging Japanese outfielder Masataka Yoshida. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to life in MLB, but he certainly has the tools to help the offense.
Boston also brought in third baseman Justin Turner, but his tenure with the Red Sox got off to an auspicious start as he had to leave a spring training game due to getting hit in the face with a pitch. Luckily, tests have come back negative for both fractures and a concussion, meaning that he will hopefully be able to return to the diamond sooner than later.
Trevor Story, who was expected to take over shortstop, is also out as he is recovering from elbow surgery.
Aside from those four, the Red Sox are hoping to get solid play from rookie first baseman Triston Casas, outfielders Alex Verdugo and Adam Duvall, and Bogaerts’ replacement at shortstop, Enrique Hernandez. Of note, Casas currently has the fifth-best odds of winning AL Rookie of the Year at +900.
Prediction
While Rafael Devers is still worth the price of admission, it is hard to see the Red Sox competing this year in a loaded AL East. They are relying too much on aging veterans on the mound, and the offense will have a hard time protecting Devers in the lineup.
With Kenley Jansen, Chris Martin, and John Schreiber in the bullpen, leads should be well-protected. The question is whether they will have a lead to hold. Boston will hope to stay out of the AL East cellar this season, but with an up-and-coming Orioles squad, even that may be a challenge.

Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association have yet to sign a new collective-bargaining agreement. There’s a real chance the season starts late. But although the season may start late, it doesn’t mean we won’t have any baseball in 2022. One of the more intriguing teams to think about are the Boston Red Sox. Red Sox MLB Betting Predictions
2022 MLB Season
When: March 31 – Nov. 2
Boston Red Sox to Win the AL East Division +500
The Red Sox offer overlay odds to win the American League East Division. It’s not that Boston is a better team than the Toronto Blue Jays, the chalk, or the New York Yankees, the second choice.
But the Blue Jays and the Yankees aren’t that much better than the Red Sox. So why back a team like Toronto or NYY at less than +200 odds when you can back the Red Sox at +500?
Overlay or Underlay Odds: Overlay
Boston to Win the American League Pennant +770
Boston offers fair odds to win the AL Pennant. The Red Sox are a Chris Sale Cy Young performance away from having one of the very best starting rotations in baseball.
Nathan Eovaldi, Nick Pivetta, and Rich Hill posted ERAs below 4.00 last season. So if Sale returns to his dominant form, forget it. Boston can start a top pitcher in every postseason game.
Also, few teams hit as well as the Boston Red Sox. So unless Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts have disappointing seasons, the Red Sox should secure a postseason berth, either a wild card or win the AL East.
Overlay or Underlay Odds: Fair
Red Sox to Win the World Series +1600
If the Red Sox make the postseason, it’s likely because Chris Sale returns to form. Sale is the best pitcher in baseball when he’s got his slider working.
Eovaldi, Pivetta, and Hill are more than capable. Devers must bring up his batting average, but he should if the Red Sox make the World Series. So Boston does have enough balance in the batting lineup, and a starting rotation, that could lead to a World Series win.
Overlay or Underlay Odds: Fair
Chris Sale AL Cy Young Award +1400
Counting on Sale to return to his best form is tough. But, again, when Sale has the ridiculous slider working, he dominates.
So, really, it’s a question of how long it will take for Sale to hit his stride. The other contenders, including the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole, don’t have the stuff a healthy Chris Sale possesses. At the odds, Sale is worth a look for a sure.
Overlay or Underlay Odds: Overlay
Rafael Devers AL MVP Award +2000
Devers is an excellent player. But his batting average of .257 left something to be desired. The big problem with backing Devers is that other players have a better shot of takin the MVP.
Mike Trout, as an example, should have a fantastic season either hitting ahead of or behind Shohei Ohtani. Shohei, the defending MVP, is the chalk because he pitches and hits well.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. does everything well. He’s the complete player. So Devers odds look great, but they aren’t great considering the competition he faces to win AL MVP.

2017 Boston Red Sox MLB Betting Season Prediction
Previous Betting News
The Boston Red Sox won the American League East Division last year and made the playoffs for the first time since last winning the World Series in 2013. The Sox were the AL favorites entering the 2016 playoffs but were shockingly swept in the ALDS by Cleveland. What to expect this season? Anything short of a pennant would be a failure, and the Sox are MLB betting favorites to win it again.
2017 Boston Red Sox MLB Betting Season Prediction
There’s no replacing the retired Ortiz, one of the best and most popular Red Sox in history. He’s not coming back at age 41. A future Hall of Fame candidate, Ortiz ended his career on a high note. He hit .315/.401/.620 with 38 homers and 127 RBI in 2016, leading the majors in OPS, slugging percentage (.620) and doubles (48). The 10-time All-Star said lingering injuries ultimately forced him to retire, and that the grind of a 162-game season simply became too much for him.
The Sox will use a combo of Hanley Ramirez and new addition Moreland at first base and DH. Moreland will largely play first because he’s an excellent defender and Ramirez isn’t. Moreland won the Gold Glove last year with Texas. Ramirez will occasional time at first against left-handed pitching while manager John Farrell uses the DH slot to mix in other players. The 31-year- old Moreland hit .233/.298/.422 with 22 home runs and 60 RBIs in 147 games for the Rangers in 2016. His best season was in ’15, when he had an .812 OPS to go with 23 homers and 85 RBIs.
The Red Sox led the majors in runs last year and probably will again even with losing Ortiz. Boston has the best young outfield in baseball in Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Andrew Benintendi – he’s the No. 1 overall prospect in MLB. Betts was the AL MVP runner-up last year. He ranked second in the AL in average (.318), second in hits (214), tied for second in runs (122), tied for third in doubles (42), tied for fourth in extra-base hits (78) and fourth in RBIs (113). Betts raked 31 home runs and was the first Red Sox player since Ted Williams to have two three-homer games in a season. Betts stole 26 bases in 30 attempts. He won the AL Silver Slugger in right field.
The Sox also have a superstar shortstop in Xander Bogaerts. He set pro-career bests in practically every traditional category last year: 21 home runs, 115 runs scored, 89 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, at only minimal cost to his batting average (.294). Bogaerts has set a goal to steal at least 20 bases during the 2017 season.
Boston’s big offseason acquisition was a trade for White Sox ace left-hander Chris Sale. Sale, 27, is coming off his fifth straight All-Star season in 2016, when he finished 17-10 with 233 strikeouts in 226⅔ innings pitched. He joins a talented rotation that includes 2016 Cy Young winner Rick Porcello, past winner David Price and All-Star knuckleballer Steven Wright.
However, Price will not start the season with the Red Sox. He will begin it on the disabled list with an elbow injury. Price saw a specialist and won’t need surgery, but because he’s so far behind he likely will miss most of April in the majors. That opens up a spot in the rotation for all three of Eduardo Rodriguez, Wright and Drew Pomeranz, if healthy. Price, the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner with Tampa Bay, was 17-9 with a 3.99 ERA last year. He felt discomfort in his left elbow after a two- inning simulated game on Feb. 28.
Betting Predictions
This is the best team on paper in the American League. As long as Price is OK, take Boston to go over that win total and win the AL East again.
