Top MLB Pitchers for Follow this Week 22

Welcome to September! The final month of the regular season in Major League Baseball.

The pennant chase is on. The weather is cooling down.

We are excited to see the action on the field, as we get into the postseason.

Let’s take a look at the top Major League Baseball pitchers to follow for Week 22 of the season.

Writer’s Pitchers Picks for MLB Week 22

Freddy Peralta, Milwaukee Brewers

Monday, September 2nd, 2024

Peralta gets the Cardinals on Monday.

St. Louis is coming off back-to-back wins over the Yankees.

St. Louis only has a little time left before they fall completely out of the race to make the postseason.

The Cardinals though are very up and down with the bats.

14 runs on Monday, but have shown signs of poor offensive more often than not this season.

Peralta has faced St. Louis a ton over his career.

After this, the Brewers and Peralta get a visit from Colorado over the weekend.

Corbin Burnes, Baltimore Orioles

Monday, September 2nd, 2024

Burnes is 12-7 on the season.

Many expected a better record from the former Milwaukee ace, but he has still gotten the job done more than not.

Burnes gets the worst team in baseball for his first start of the week.

The right hander will then get a chance to take on the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend.

Tampa Bay is a very hot or cold offense, so Burnes is set up for a nice week if he can get back on track.

Jack Flaherty, Los Angeles Dodgers

Monday, September 2nd, 2024

The Dodgers flame thrower came over from Detroit at the trade deadline.

He is coming off a loss to Baltimore in his last start.

But, on the season, Flaherty is 10-6 with a 3.07 earned run average.

The right hander has 167 strikeouts over 135 innings.

He gets a game at Arizona to wrap up the four-game series on Monday.

Los Angeles then hosts the Guardians over the weekend.

Two interesting starts for Flaherty.

Michael Wacha, Kansas City Royals

Monday, September 2nd, 2024

It is a battle for first place from Kansas City.

The Royals have dropped to three games back following their recent struggles.

Wacha is 11-6 on the season with a 3.50 earned run average.

The right hander has thrown 139 innings and struck out 120 batters.

In his last start, he was able to go six innings, but grabbed a no decision against this same Cleveland team.

The Royals have a big week, and the Twins come to town next.

They need a couple of nice starts from their veteran right hander.

Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees

Monday, September 2nd, 2024

After missing a good chunk of the season, the righthander has been pretty strong with his last handful of starts.

In fact, he has only allowed 6 runs in his last five starts.

Cole is 5-3 on the season with a 3.86 earned run average.

The right hander has 59 strikeouts in 63 innings this season.

The Yankees are looking to snap their two-game losing streak in this game on Monday, before they go on the road over the weekend to the red hot Chicago Cubs.

There you have it. Those are the top Major League Baseball pitchers to follow for Week 22 of the season.

Enjoy the games and best of luck with all your Major League Baseball betting!

MLB Pitchers to Back in Week 22

Previous Betting News

With roughly a month remaining in the MLB regular season, the battle for the available playoff spots is heating up rather dramatically. While there are a few teams who will safely be in the postseasonat this point, the Wild Card spots are still very much up for grabs, especially in the divisions that are still wide open. The pressure is ramping up now, with the teams in the hunt needing the best from every player on their squad. As we have said before, though, it all starts with the pitching, as it is very often the teams with the best pitching staff that end up moving on and making a deep run. Looking ahead at the coming week, we are picking out 4 MLB pitchers that I think you should be putting your money on this week, so let’s get to it.

MLB Week 22: Monday September 4 – Sunday September 10, 2023

Gerrit Cole

New York Yankees | #45
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

It has been a disastrous season for the Yankees, who find themselves down in the AL East cellar, sitting a game below .500. There have been very few bright spots for this team, but you have to say that Gerrit Cole has done his part while others have struggled a great deal. Cole comes into this week with a 12-4 record and an ERA of 2.95 and is a player that deserves a whole lot better than he is getting with the Yankees. He has won his last 2 starts, giving up just 3 ER in 13.2 innings of work, so I think we can expect more of the same from him on Tuesday night versus Detroit, the team he beat last time out.

Spencer Strider

Atlanta Braves | #99
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

The Braves are very likely going to head into the postseason as the team with the best regular season record. This is a team that seems to have very few weak spots, and they have to be considered among the favorites to win the World Series. They have gotten some great work from their pitching staff, and If you have been following our weekly pitcher updates, you will have seen Strider here several times. He is 16-4 with a 3.56 ERA and we are going to continue to pick him as long as he keeps winning.

Luis Castillo

Seattle Mariners | #58
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

The Mariners have been strong in the second half of the season, surging to the top of the West, albeit with just a single game separating the top 3 teams in the division. The Mariners have lost 2 in a row as I write this piece, and they really need a win if they want to stay at the top of the division and nab that automatic playoff spot. They will like their chances to beat Tampa Bay on Thursday night with Castillo on the mound. They have now won each of the last 7 games that he has started.

Zac Gallen

Arizona Diamondbacks | #23
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

The mark of a good pitcher is often seen in how they bounce back from a bad start. That is what Zac Gallen will be looking to do for the Diamondbacks on Friday night when he takes the mound against the Chicago Cubs. Gallen was hammered in his last start, but this is a guy who is an impressive 14-7 this season with an ERA of 3.48. While he has now lost 2 in a row, I think we see him snap out of it this week.
