NBA Weekend Betting Previews | Week 17

Los Angeles Lakers @ Golden State Warriors

When: Saturday, February 11, 2023
Where: Chase Center, San Francisco, CA

Time: 8:30 PM EST
TV: ABC

Two struggling teams expected to contend for the Western Conference title this season will clash in a Saturday Night prime-time matchup, as the Golden State Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers. Now that LeBron James has broken the all-time scoring record, there’s not as much hype surrounding the Lakers. Even with LeBron breaking the record, the Lakers haven’t been able to get things going. They’ve lost three straight games, and six of their last 10. They’re currently sitting on the outside looking in on the playoffs, as they’re two games out of the 12th and final spot.

The Lakers made a lot of deals at the trade deadline, and they may be short-handed on Saturday night. With the newly acquired players having to make travel arrangements and pass physicals, we’re not sure whether or not they’ll be ready to play on Saturday night. The Lakers should have a healthy Anthony Davis and LeBron. We’ll see if DeAngelo Russell and Mo Bamba are ready to play on Saturday night, as they were acquired at the deadline.

As for the Golden State Warriors, they took a huge blow earlier this week, as it was announced that Stephen Curry would miss multiple weeks with a left leg injury. He’ll be reevaluated after the All-Star Break to see when he’ll be able to return. Without Curry, the Warriors will have to make up for a lot of scoring. They’ll be looking to Jordan Poole to pick up the slack.

With the Lakers struggling mightily, we think that Golden State will be slight favorites in this one. Golden State is one of the best home teams in the league, so they have a big home-court advantage. The Lakers know that they need to get things going, so they are nearing desperation mode.

Dallas Mavericks @ Sacramento Kings

When: Saturday, February 11, 2023
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA

Time: 10:00 PM EST
TV: NBCSCA, BSSW-DAL

The new-look Dallas Mavericks head to Sacramento for a big Western Conference matchup. The Kings are currently in third place in the Western Conference, while the Mavericks are in fourth, just two games behind the Kings. Sacramento has one of the best offenses in the league, while the Mavs will be looking to see how the offense will work with the newly acquired Kyrie Irving in the mix with Luka Doncic.

The Sacramento Kings don’t have one of the better home records in the conference, but the Mavs have struggled on the road this season. Defensively, the Mavericks will have a hard time slowing the Kings down. After trading their top defender to acquire Irving, and with Irving not being a strong defender, the Mavs defense will suffer from this trade. They’ll need their offense to make up the deficiencies that their defense will have.

We assume that the Kings will be slight favorites in this matchup. We like the Kings to win this one, as they’ll be able to outscore the Mavs.
