Sacramento Kings All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox has ligament damage in his left pinky finger but will continue to fight through it as the Kings conclude their road trip Monday night in Miami.
The Heat are short favorites on the NBA odds and almost never lose at home in the series.
Opening Kings at Heat Odds Subject to Change: Heat -2.5 (total 224.5) Expert Prediction: Heat 107, Kings 104 |
Why Bet on Sacramento?
The Kings had a three-game winning streak snapped when they were upset as 8-point favorites on Toronto on Saturday, 131-128 in OT. Former Raptor DeMar DeRozan scored 33 points for Sacramento but also missed two 3-pointers to tie in the final minute of overtime. After DeRozan’s first miss, Toronto’s RJ Barrett missed a pair of free throws with nine seconds to go. Both DeRozan and De’Aaron Fox missed 3-pointers on Sacramento’s final possession.
FINAL: Kings fall to the Raptors, 131-128.
— Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) November 3, 2024
👑 De’Aaron Fox: 24 PTS, 6 REB, 5 STL
👑 DeMar DeRozan: 33 PTS, 4 AST, 3 STL
👑 Malik Monk: 21 PTS, 4 AST, 3 REB
👑 Domantas Sabonis: 17 PTS, 20 REB, 10 AST
DeMar DeRozan
DeRozan is averaging a team-leading 25.3 points per game. He has continued to show his mastery in the midrange, leading the league in both midrange field goals made and attempted, shooting 54.1% on those opportunities. DeRozan is only the third Kings player to score 20 points or more in six straight games to begin their tenure with the team. Chris Webber holds the record of seven in a row in 1999.
Domantas Sabonis
All-Star big man Sabonis had 17 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists for his second triple-double of the young season. Sabonis moved up the NBA’s all-time triple-doubles list, passing Larry Bird to take over 10th place. In six games, he’s produced three double-doubles and two triple-doubles, with the season opener being the exception.
Malik Monk
Monk added 21 points off the bench, a season high for one of the NBA’s top sixth men. He had just 16 points on 5-of-20 shooting in Sacramento’s previous two games. De’Aaron Fox finished with 24 points and six rebounds but just one assist in 43 minutes. He missed all 11 of his attempts, the last of which could have tied the game in the final seconds of overtime.
De’Aaron Fox
Fox told reporters after the game that he is playing through a ligament injury in his left pinky finger. Fox dislocated his left pinky finger during training camp, but he was able to play through the issue after X-rays came back negative. Despite the injury occurring on his dominant hand, it hasn’t caused a major drop-off in Fox’s efficiency from the field, as he’s shooting 47.7 percent from the field through the first six games of the regular season despite Saturday’s ugly effort. Fox has been playing this season with the pinkie and ring finger on his left (shooting) hand taped together.
“I wouldn’t change anything [about my shot selection], especially the last one,” Fox said about Saturday’s game. “I got an open look, and it didn’t come off right. … I can’t say [the injury] is the reason. I’ve had games where I’ve shot it well, and I’ve had games where I haven’t. I just got to get used to it.”
Fox had five steals in Saturday’s loss and now has at least one in 34 straight games, a team record and the fourth-longest streak in NBA history. The record is 64 in a row by Victor Oladipo from Nov. 8, 2017 to April 8, 2018. Fox is the only player to rank in the Top 5 in franchise history in points, assists and steals.
Kevin Huerter
Starting guard Huerter is questionable after missing Saturday’s game with an illness. Huerter is no stranger to the team injury report. Last season, the sharpshooting wing missed the team’s final 17 games (15 regular seasons, two play-in) with a shoulder injury. This injury also kept him out for the entirety of the 2024-25 preseason. He’s averaging 11.6 points this year.
^Why Bet on Miami?
The Heat come off their best game of the season, a 118-98 win over Washington on Saturday in Mexico City. Tyler Herro scored five points in a 13-3 run in the second quarter that put the Heat ahead 51-34 with less than four minutes to play, and really that was that. Miami outrebounded Washington 65-44.
Bam Adebayo
Adebayo had 32 points and 14 rebounds in just 31 minutes. Adebayo hadn’t scored more than 12 points over the first four games of the regular season, but he dominated Saturday and finished as the leading scorer for the game. He was 0-for-8 from three going into the contest, but he managed to connect on three triples as he worked on expanding his range during the Olympics and off season. Adebayo has 194 career double-doubles and is 11 away from tying Alonzo Mourning for the second-best in franchise history. Rony Seikaly is the leader with 221.
The Heat made an effort to get Adebayo the ball from the start, as he scored the team’s first five points on Saturday. It marked just the fourth game that Adebayo has finished with 24 or more field-goal attempts in during his NBA career. It’s also the first regular-season game that he has finished with at least 32 points and 14 rebounds in during his NBA career.
“My teammates got me going early, and then it was just a snowball effect from there,” Adebayo said.
Jimmy Butler
Butler added 18 points, eight boards and four assists. Butler is attempting just 11.2 field goals per game — his lowest since the 2013-14 regular season with the Bulls — but he’s shooting an efficient 48.2 percent from the field and is averaging 17.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
Tyler Herro
Herro is averaging a team-leading 20.8 points, while Terry Rozier III is second on the team with 17.2 points. They are the only Heat starting backcourt to each score in double figures and connect on multiple three-point field goals in each of the first five games of a season. Additionally, their five consecutive games of each scoring just in double-figures ties the second-longest streak by a Heat starting backcourt to start a season in franchise history.

Absences
Duncan Robinson and Kevin Love (personal reasons) didn’t make the trip Saturday. Love has yet to play this season, while Robinson has been available to play off the bench in every game. Miami will play eight games in November against teams that made the playoffs last season, tying for the most during a single month this season (January).

Why Bet on the Kings
There is a ton of drama regarding the Sacramento Kings of 2015 – 2016. George Karl appears to be on his way out of town following another season of failed expectations. DeMarcus Cousins is the top offensive threat for the Kings, as he is scoring 27 points per game. Point guard Rajon Rondo, who has always been a loose cannon has played well for most of the season, and is dishing out 11 assists per game. The Kings have matched their win total from a season ago, which means they need one win in the next 8 games to reach 30.
Why Bet on the Heat
The Miami Heat, despite losing the services of Chris Bosh have been wildly successful this season. The Heat have won 43 games, including 18 on the road this season. Miami, before taking on the Lakers Wednesday night had won four out of their last five games, with their lone loss at the San Antonio Spurs. The Heat are just a single game behind the Atlanta Hawks in the Southwest Division. Miami is led in scoring by shooting guard Dwyane Wade, with 19.1 points per game. Big man Hassan Whiteside is shooting over 61% on the season.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
The Sacramento Kings are a team that has plenty of talent to ruin a game for a playoff contending team. While the Miami Heat are going to make the playoffs, they could use a road win to help their seeding. The Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat should be a pretty solid game, with the athleticism from both teams. In the end, the home team is going to find a way to win. Too long on the road for the Heat. Bet on the Sacramento Kings +3 over the Miami Heat in a National Basketball Association game on Friday night. Our final score prediction: Sacramento 108 and Miami 105.
