There are now just 8 teams remaining with a shot at winning the Super Bowl this season, which means that there are a limited number of NFL betting opportunities remaining.
For those of us who love to make the majority of our bets on football, there is a sense of sadness that it is all close to coming to an end.
Props for the Divisional Round Analysis
Even those who tend to play a limited number of games feel the need to up the ante a little bit before the season comes to an end, but it is still important to stay disciplined when placing those wagers. While there may not be a lot of games to wager on at this late stage of the season, there are bets that you can play which add a little more excitement to all the matchups. We are, of course, talking about props for the Divisional Round, so let’s get into that.

What they Are
While most of you are probably aware of prop bets, I’m sure that there are some people out there who have never played them, and who may not be up on what they are all about. Prop bets are essentially wagers within the game that don’t always have anything to do with the final outcome of the game. Rather than betting on the winner and loser, you are betting on individual team and player performance, such as the number of yards that a QB will throw for, when the first points will be scored, and the team that will put up the most points in the Divisional Round. There are a ton of these bets available, and while they are all very tempting, I do recommend that you pick and choose the ones that you play, while also not blowing a ton of money on them.
Stats Information
The great news for those of you interested in prop bets is that there is a ton of statistical data online that can help you make an informed bet. You can look at how players have performed historically against their opponent this weekend and measure that with the numbers on offer within the props. For example, you look at the Baltimore Ravens ground game this season, and you get a sense that they might run the ball more often than throwing it, which could lead you to wager on Derrick Henry going off against the Buffalo Bills. That said, if the Bills have been stout against the run, you might wager that Henry will fall under the projected total yards gained in his prop bet.
With all of that said, let’s take a look at the upcoming NFL Divisional Round and the prop bets that are on the board for the games this weekend, with a few predictions tossed in for good measure.
^NFL Divisional Round Game Props
With the individual player props, which we will get to shortly, you can get your wagers in before the start of each matchup, but with the many of the game props, you need to place them before the first game starts. Here are some examples of those props:
^Lowest Scoring Game in the Divisional Round
Are we going to get shootouts or defensive battles in the four Divisional Round Games? There is likely to be a mixture of both, and much will depend on how things play out over the course of each game. A team that relies on the run might well eat up the clock, causing the points total to be low. On the flip side, you might also get a team that is behind and has to resort to slinging the ball all over the field. The Chiefs/Texans matchup has the lowest point total on the board, so the bookies expect a low scoring affair, and I tend to agree. I would play this one at odds of +109.

Highest Scoring Game in the Divisional Round
Assuming that we are correct with the lowest scoring game, then you have a one in three shot at getting the highest scoring game correct. The bookies have the Lions/Commanders game as the most likely to be high scoring, but I am not so sure that Washington can hold up their end of the bargain in terms of putting points on the board. For me, I like the Bills and Ravens to get into a bit of an offensive tussle. With that in mind, I am taking that matchup as the highest scoring in the Divisional Round at odds of +186.
These wagers are a bit easier to predict than some of the others, so if you are looking at things like the exact score in each game or the margin of victory, you might want to go with some smaller wagers as opposed to playing a huge chunk of your bankroll. The same rules apply with props like the nature of the first score in each game, as well as the timing of those first points. There are a lot of things that can affect those outcomes, so they are certainly a good deal riskier than the highest and lowest scoring.
^NFL Divisional Round Player Props
As mentioned earlier, there are a ton of individual player props that you can wager on in the NFL Divisional Round, as well as in every playoff game. These props tend to focus on the number of yards a player will pass or throw for, total sacks, tackles, and a host of other stats for each player. These tend to be of the OVER/UNDER variety, and they are a ton of fun, but we are going to focus on individual player props across all 4 games. Again, you are going to need to get those wagers in before the opening kick in the first game of the weekend.
^Most Passing Yards in the Divisional Round
For this prop, you can look at the stats from the regular season to get an idea of which QB might rack up the yards in the Divisional Round, but it really isn’t that straightforward. In terms of regular season passing yards, there is only one QB who finished in the top 5 in passing yards that will be playing this weekend. That would be Jared Goff of the Lions, who is the favorite to throw for the most yards at odds of +240. Then again, you have CJ Stroud of the Texans, who could be a tempting bet, given that he threw for the most yards in the Wild Card Round. Patrick Mahomes (+460) is always a threat to go off and rack up some yards but is he worth taking a risk on considering that the bookies see his game as being low scoring, which would then potentially count Strouf out, too. While I am not a fan of betting on the chalk, Goff looks like the logical bet here.
^Most Rushing Yards in the Divisional Round
We have a very interesting wager here, as the top two running backs from the regular season will be playing this weekend. Saquon Barkley (+156) was the only RB to surpass 2,000 yards on the ground this season, while tallying 119 more in the Wild Card Game versus the Packers. In his career against the Rams, he has averaged close to 10 yards per carry.
We also have Derrick Henry (+330) in the mix. He ended up just shy of 2K yards in the regular season and added 186 more versus the Steelers last weekend. The issue here is that he is potentially going to be sharing a lot of the runs with Lamar Jackson, who we all know is a dual threat QB, plus the Bills are going to be a tough team to run on. There are, of course, other options, but I think it will come down to one of these two men, and my money is on Barkley.
There are a ton of other props available besides the ones we discussed here, so be sure to check them out and give yourself time to do some research. These prop wagers are a fantastic way to add some extra money to your bankroll before the season comes to an end.
