Betting 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship | Know the Basics

Now that the President’s Cup has come and gone, it’s time for a more traditional PGA Tournament.

This time the tournament will be the Sanderson Farms Championship, and there is a unique format that will be used for the action.

This tournament is not for the biggest players in the world, but will instead give some of the up and coming golf stars a chance to prove their worth.

That should create plenty of excitement, and it will lead to some great betting options to explore as well.

The odds for this tournament suggest that everything is wide open, and there will be plenty of value to be had.

Here is a look at the top three contenders to watch at the Sanderson Farms Championship and a pick to win.

Writer’s Picks for the Next Sanderson Farms Championship

Mackenzie Hughes (+2200)

Mackenzie Hughes is coming into this tournament as the betting favorite, and he is looking to take the next step in his career.

Hughes has had a solid season so far on the PGA Tour, but he needs to find a way to get near the top of the points standings.

There were a couple of instances a year ago in which Hughes really stood out among the rest of the young golf stars.

That doesn’t mean that he will easily come away with a win in this event, but the odds suggest that he will at least be in the mix.

Keith Mitchell (+2200)

Keith Mitchell is another player that always seems to be on the cusp of breaking out, but he just hasn’t been able to go on a big run.

This could be the year in which Mitchell is able to take the next step, and this will be a great first opportunity.

The odds for Mitchell have him right up with Mackenzie Hughes, but those odds could always change in a big way after the first round.

If Mitchell is able to get off to a good start, that would be a good time to jump on him.

Nick Dunlap (+2800)

Nick Dunlap is a young player with a ton of potential, and he can get hot in a hurry.

It’s been hard for Dunlap to find any consistency throughout his career, but his best golf is typically among the best in the game.

These odds show that Dunlap still has some work to get done, but he is also firmly in the mix.

Picking a Winner

When looking to make a bet on the winner of the Sanderson Farms Championship, you should be focusing on the top three contenders.

There will be some other players that have a chance to come away with a win, but they are underdogs for a reason.

This should be a tournament in which all of the players are able to score well, and that will lead to some excitement all weekend long.

Hughes might be the favorite, but he is going to come up just a bit short.

Jump on Nick Dunlap at +2800 as the odds and his talent match up in a perfect way.

Previous Betting News

The PGA Tour picks back up this week as the Fall Series rolls on with the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship. Held in Jackson, Mississippi, at the Country Club of Jackson, the tournament is the only PGA Tour event played in the state of Mississippi. The four-day individual stroke play event begins on Thursday, October 5th, and concludes on Sunday, October 9th.

Canadian golfer Mackenzie Hughes returns to the South to defend his 2022 title. Hughes picked up his second PGA Tour victory, and first since 2016, by firing a four-day total of 271 (17-under) and defeating Sepp Straka in a playoff.

Historically played as an opposite field event, the tournament has been a part of the PGA Tour schedule since 1968. The event has been played at different times throughout the year, but since 2015, it has been played since October.

Tournament play begins on Thursday, September 14th, and concludes on Sunday, September 17th. That said, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Sanderson Farms Championship tournament so you can bet against the PGA betting lines.

Thursday, October 5th – Sunday, October 8th, 2023
Country Club of Jackson, Jackson, Mississippi

Country Club of Jackson

The Country Club of Jackson was established in 1914 with 27 championship holes on the property. In 2008, 18 of the holes were re-designed by golf course architect John Fought. Fought’s layout used many of the late Donald Ross’ staples, with parkland-style routing and small, undulated green complexes.

The course reaches just under 7,500 yards in length and plays as a par-72 for the pros. CC of Jackson sets up well for elite ball-strikers and puts an emphasis on approach shots and putting.

Sanderson Farms Championship Field

The tournament has regularly been passed up by the world’s best, given its spot on the Tour schedule, but five of the top 50 ranked golfers during FedEx Cup play are teeing it up this week. Leading the group is Emiliano Grillo, who finished tied for 29th.

Hughes looks to become just the second golfer to win this tournament in back-to-back seasons, joining Dwight Nevil (1973-74). The 32-year-old entered the week ranked 51st in the FedEx Cup standings, aiming to hold onto his spot in The Next 10 (51-60), which would earn him entry into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational.

Other notable players in the field this week include Kevin Kisner, Tom Hoge, Eric Cole, Lucas Herbert, and European Ryder Cup participant Ludvig Aberg.

Sanderson Farms Championship Betting Favorites

Six of the last nine winners of the event have been first-time champions, so don’t be surprised if that trend continues this week.

Aberg (+1100) is the pre-tournament betting favorite, holding an edge over Stephan Jaeger (+1800). Both golfers are looking to become first-time winners on the PGA circuit.

Cole (+2000) trails behind the top two golfers as the 35-year-old late bloomer looks to build on a solid 2023 year that includes 11 top 25 finishes in 33 events played.

Rounding out the top favorites are Grillo (+2000), Lee Hodges (+3000), and Beau Hossler (+3000). Grillo won his second career PGA Tour tournament earlier this year with a victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May. Hodges also won earlier this season with a triumph at the 3M Open in July.

Keith Mitchell (+2800), S.H. Kim (+3000), Lucas Herbert (+3300), Adam Svensson (+3500), Callum Tarren (+4000), Davis Riley (+4000) are past champions in the field teeing it up this week.

Joaquin Niemann, Sungjae Im, and Brandt Snedeker lead the field for he 2019 PGA Sandersons Farm Championship golf tournament this week. The tournament takes place at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi. What chances do the favorites have of taking the tournament? Are their viable longshots and is their a massive underdog with a chance? Check out the golf odds and a preview of the 2019 Sandersons Farm Championship!

Odds to Win the 2019 PGA Sandersons Farm Championship

Among the favorites, Joaquin Niemann, Sungjae Im, and Brandt Snedeker, which golfer deserves the most attention to win the 2019 Sandersons Farm Championship?

Niemann dominated the course at the A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier last week. He shot a 65-62-68-64 on his way to a 259, -21. Not only did Niemann win, but he became the first Chilean to ever take a PGA Tour trophy. Can he make it two in a row? He can versus this field. Neimann had made 21 cuts from 28 events with 4 Top 10 finishes. The chalk deserves a long look here.

So do Sungjae Im and Brandt Snedeker. Im tied for nineteenth at the Old White Course with a -9 at the Greenbrier, well off Neimann’s winning score. However, if Sungjae returns to his previous form, he should be in the mix.

Snedeker finished fifth at the Northern Trust and sixth at the BMW Championship. Both those tournaments took place in August. If Brandt has his sticks working this week, he could be the play ahead of both Sungjae and Joaquin. Consider backing Snedeker because of the odds. Don’t sleep on Niemann to get it done again, though. So, if you like backing chalk, go for Joaquin.

Which golfers at the odds of +2500 to +4000 can win the 2019 Sandersons Farm Championship?

Both Brian Harman and Scottie Sheffler are playing well enough to have a say on Sunday. Harman shot a 266, -14 to finish third behind Niemann at last week’s PGA Tournament. He had some moments over the spring and summer. He finished eighth at the Travelers Championship and sixth at the Wyndham Championship.

Sheffler shot a -13 to finish 8 strokes off Neimann. The 23-year-old just turned pro last year. So, there’s plenty of upside here. Who knows? Like Niemann at the Greenbrier, the Sandersons Farm could be the tournament where Scheffler makes a mark.

Which underdog golfer at +5000 odds or higher who can win the 2019 Sandersons Farm Championship?

Ryan Armour is at +8000 while Chesson Hadley is at +10000. Both have a shot at winning the Sandersons Farm Championship. Armour won this tournament last year after shooting a -19. Hadley shot a -14 to finish second.

Neither are in great form right now. But, they weren’t exactly tearing it up before the 2018 Sandersons, either. If you want to back a serious dog, you could do worse than going for either Ryan Armour or Chesson Hadley.
