NBA Championship Odds, Betting Favorites, Picks Heading Into Week 17

We’re 50 games into the NBA season, and teams are starting to gear up for the playoff run. The All-Star Break, along with the trade deadline are coming up, and once those have come and gone, things will really heat up. The oddsmakers have released their newest set of NBA Championship Odds. Let’s take a look at those, and we’ll give you a couple of favorites, the smart pick, and a long shot.

A Quick Look at Some Futures Picks for the 2022-23 NBA Championship

The Favorites

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are leading the Celtics towards another long playoff run. They have one of the deepest teams in the league, and they have one of the best offenses and defense. With Marcus Smart as their defensive stopper, they’ll be able to contain a guard. If Robert Williams can stay healthy, they’ll have a very good interior defender. We’ll see if Brown and Tatum can stay hot in the playoffs.

Giannis Antetokounmpo can be an unstoppable force. With a surrounding cast of Brook Lopez, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday, the Bucks look to be one of the top teams in the league. Middleton’s health has been an issue this season, and the Bucks aren’t as deep as they once were, but this is still a team built to win in the postseason.

When Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons are all on their game, this team is very difficult to stop. Durant has missed some time due to injury, but when he has been healthy, he has looked like the best player in the league. Simmons may not always contribute on the offensive end, but he is one of the best defensive players in the league. He along with Nick Claxton, give the Nets two very good defensive threats.

The Smart Pick

Doc Rivers seems to have figured out the right formula for the Sixers. With Joel Embiid playing well, and James Harden getting things done, the Sixers look like a team poised to make a long run. They have won seven straight, and are playing well at both ends of the floor. Embiid is a matchup nightmare for anyone, as he can score on the inside and from beyond the arc. As long as Harden continues to play well, this team will be very dangerous come playoff time.

The Long Shot

The Kings are currently sitting in the third spot in the Western Conference playoff standings. They have one of the best offenses in the league, and can put up points in bunches. Keegan Murray looks to be the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year, as he has been a huge boost to this offense. Kevin Huerter is the shooter that the Kings needed, and Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox have been leading the way. This team is going to be real good defensively, but they can outscore anyone on any given night. We’re looking forward to seeing what the Kings can do come playoff time.
