Sacramento Kings @ Golden State Warriors – Monday, December 20th
The Golden State Warriors are one of the best teams in the league this season. They’re currently sitting in second place in the Western Conference standings with a 24-6 record. They’ll take on the Sacramento Kings, who, with a 13-18 record, are sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference.
Saturday night, the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors. Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Otto Porter, and Andrew Wiggins didn’t make the trip to Toronto, so the Warriors were short-handed. They’ll be short-handed on Monday as well, as early on Sunday evening; the Warriors announced that Andrew Wiggins had been placed in the league’s health and safety protocol.
Wiggins will join Jordan Poole in the protocol. Since both are fully vaccinated, they shouldn’t miss too much time. That’s the bad news. The good news for the Warriors is that Curry and Green should be ready to go on Monday night.
The Kings are used to bad news, and bad news is what they’ve had over the past few days. Sacramento is dealing with its own COVID issues, as De’Aaron Fox, Davion Mitchell, Terence Davis, Marvin Bagley III, Alex Len, and Louis King are all in the health and safety protocol. We can’t forget that starting center Richaun Holmes may not play due to an eye injury.
While both teams will be missing some key players, it is obvious that the Warriors will have the better personnel for this one. If the spread isn’t too high, we’d go big on the Golden State Warriors as the Kings will be missing way too many key players. Davion Mitchell is a defensive stopper, and without him, they don’t have anyone that can come close to holding Steph Curry at bay.
Phoenix Suns @ Los Angeles Lakers – Tuesday, December 21st
The Phoenix Suns have the best record in the NBA. After losing in last year’s NBA Finals, the Suns have come back with a vengeance. At 23-5, the Suns are showing everyone that they are gunning for the Larry O’Brien Trophy,
As for the Lakers, they’re in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 16-14 record. However, they received some bad news a couple of days ago, as it was announced that Anthony Davis will miss at least a month with an MCL sprain in his knee. That is huge for a Lakers team that was already struggling.
The way the Phoenix Suns have been playing, unless they have numerous key players sit out, they should be favored in this one. Without Anthony Davis, we can’t see the Lakers being able to beat them.
