The biggest upset of the Week 7 schedule may well have been the Vikings taking out the 49ers in primetime on Monday night. While the outcome of this one was certainly a surprise, it once again proves just how difficult it is to go on the road and get a win in this league. All of this makes handicapping games very tough, but we are looking ahead to Week 8 to see if we can pick out some SU winners. As always, we are not going to go with the obvious, easy NFL picks, choosing instead to focus on the games that the bookies have as being close, so let’s get to it.

Tennessee Titans over Atlanta Falcons

When: Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN
TV/Streaming: CBS

It was the Atlanta Falcons who hurt us last week, beating the Buccaneers to stop us from having a perfect week with our SU picks. I may well be tempting fate by betting against them again, but that is the way I am leaning here. The Falcons have routinely struggled in their previous meetings with the Titans, winning just 2 of the last 8. That includes the Titans winning 4 of their last 5 games when Atlanta comes to town. I don’t expect to see a ton of offense in this one, but I do like Tennessee to do just enough to get the home win in Week 8.

Pittsburgh Steelers over Jacksonville Jaguars

When: Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh, PA
TV/Streaming: CBS

This is another game that the bookies see as close, putting the Jaguars in as a 2 ½ point road favorite over the Steelers. I am going with the underdog here, although I do have to say that this is a pick that makes me a little nervous. The Steelers are finding ways to win sitting at 4-2 on the season despite having some serious issues on the offensive side of the football. Their defense, though, is keeping them in games long enough for them to create something on offense. The Jaguars have been tough to figure out at times this season, plus they have had struggles against teams from the AFC North, winning just once in the last 6 against those teams. I’m with the Steelers in a close one.

Minnesota Vikings over Green Bay Packers

When: Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
TV/Streaming: FOX

As I mentioned at the top of this piece, the Vikings are on a bit of a high after knocking off the 49ers in a MNF upset. They don’t have time to rest on their laurels, though, as they now have to hit the road for a big divisional game against the Green Bay Packers. This is a huge game for both teams as they look to try and keep pace with the Lions in the NFC North. Catching them might be a chore, but there is still the Wild Card to consider if the Lions do continue to excel. The Vikings have been solid on the road, winning 7 of their last 10, and I like them to take advantage of the struggling Packers in Week 8.
