Betting 2025 NFL Divisional Round Games

Most of the NFL Divisional Round field is set.

The Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams throw down in Arizona on Monday night to determine the team that will play against Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

But other than Eagles versus Rams or Vikings, we know the matchups for the three other games.

In the AFC, Houston travels to Kansas City to take on Mahomes and the three-peat searching Chiefs.

In the other AFC Divisional Round matchup, the two best quarterbacks in 2024, Josh Allen with the Bills and Lamar Jackson with the Ravens, throw down in Buffalo.

The NFC game pits the Washington Commanders on the road versus the Detroit Lions.

Writer’s NFL Quarterback Picks for the AFC Divisional Round Games

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs -4.5

AFC Divisional Round QB Matchups / Sunday, January 18th, 2025

The Chiefs are -7.5 spread line home favorites.

So the prediction is that KC is a -4.5 first half chalk to win the two quarters over C.J. Stroud and the Texans.

Stroud looked sensational when throwing darts to Nico Collins in the Texans win over the L.A. Chargers.

The Bolts had a 6-point lead but managed to blow it by committing turnover after turnover.

Justin Herbert, who had thrown 3 INTs throughout the entire season, produced 4 in the game.

Joe Mixon was fantastic as Stroud and Collins.

That will change in this game starting in the first quarter.

Kansas City isn’t close to being the same team as the L.A. Chargers.

The Chiefs got a full week of rest.

Not only that but three time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes has a full arsenal of weapons of which to exploit the Texans sometimes awful secondary.

DeAndre Hopkins, Travis Kelce, pass catching running back Isaiah Pacheco, and Hollywood Brown are all healthy.

So is Mahomes’ offensive line.

The defense is also healthy, which should scare Texans fans.

Steve Spagnuolo’s D was one of the top units in the league this NFL season.

The 1-seed covers the first half and the second.

NFL Divisional Round First Half Pick: BKansas City -4.5

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills Even

AFC Divisional Round QB Matchups / Sunday, January 19th, 2025

Buffalo is a -1.5 home chalk.

Based on this past weekend’s games, the Bills should have no trouble getting it done at home even if Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry play for the Baltimore Ravens.

While the Bills blasted Denver 31-7, Baltimore won a ho-hum 28-14 game versus rival Pittsburgh.

But let’s put things in perspective.

Josh Allen and his mates got to beat up Bo Nix, a rookie quarterback, and a Denver Broncos squad that although on the path to potential greatness isn’t quite there.

Not only that but Nix and the Broncos moved the ball against the Bills only to falter after a stunning 43 yard TD pass from Nix to his college teammate, Troy Franklin.

Buffalo’s defense is going to have a much, much tougher time not only holding Derrick Henry at bay but also Lamar Jackson.

Lamar rushed for over 80 yards.

Henry had his usual ridiculous line of 186 yards and 2 TDs.

If you’re a Bills fan, worry.

Bo Nix rushed for 46 yards but he averaged close to 11 yards per rush.

Javonte Williams averaged 4.1 yards per rush.

The Bills had trouble stopping the run even though the scoreboard doesn’t imply they did.

Lamar and Henry are going to go wild.

If Buffalo puts extra men in the box, it won’t matter because Henry and Jackson can plow over or out juke the eight defender.

Also, there’s the improving Rashod Bateman and future hall of fame tight end Mark Andrews to deal with.

Also, Isaiah Likely is as good of a second string tight end that has ever played in the NFL.

Baltimore is going to make a statement.

Expect a nice Ravens lead as they head into halftime.

NFL Divisional Round First Half Pick: Baltimore Even

Writer’s NFL Quarterback Picks for the NFC Divisional Round Games

Washington Commanders at Detroit Lions -5.5

NFC Divisional Round QB Matchups / Saturday, January 18th, 2025

Jayden Daniels is proof that although you don’t need a top quarterback to win in the NFL, man, it sure helps.

Daniels is the reason the Commanders are marching to Detroit and Tampa isn’t.

Tampa’s QB is good.

Baker Mayfield threw 41 TDs during the regular season.

But Mayfield made some major mistakes, especially the fumble that led to the Commanders taking the lead with a TD, that caused his team the win.

Daniels threw for 268 yards and 2 TDs.

But the dream should end and will this weekend.

The problem JD and his Commander mates has is that the Lions’ defense rediscovered its mojo in the 31-9 NFL Week 18 win over the Vikings.

Detroit held Sam Darnold to 166 yards passing.

The Lions contained both Justin Jefferson and Jordin Addison.

In every phase, the Lions D dominated a fantastic Vikings’ defense.

Daniels and his mates got lucky versus the Buccaneers.

If not for Baker’s gift, Tampa would have won the game.

The Lions won’t give any gifts.

Starting from the first kickoff, Detroit gets on the path to a second straight NFC Championship.

Lions roar in the first and second halves.

The Eagles win the first half if they face the Vikings.

NFL Divisional Round First Half Pick: Detroit -5.5

LAR/Minnesota at Philadelphia Eagles -3

NFC Divisional Round QB Matchups / Sunday, January 19th, 2025

Minnesota is favored versus the Rams on Monday Night Football.

So a Vikings win wouldn’t surprise.

If Minnesota does beat L.A. and heads to Philly, the Eagles win the first half and the entire game.

The reason is because Minnesota’s defense won’t stop Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles have too much firepower, ala the Detroit Lions, for the Vikings’ D to deal with.

But if the Rams win, a first half and potentially game upset could happen.

Matthew Stafford has enough weapons to go mano y mano with Hurts.

Almost as important is the fact the Rams D is playing lights out and Sean McVay will limit the Eagles’ possessions by utilizing Kyren Williams and throwing short passes to Puka Nucua and Coooper Kupp.

The guess here is that either team, the Rams or Vikings, will be a -4.5 to -5.5 favorite.

So a first half line of Philly -3 makes sense.

The Rams win the first half.

The Eagles win the first half if they face the Vikings.

NFL Divisional Round First Half Pick: Rams +3 or Philly -3
