Betting Week 6 NFL Games

NFL Week 6 could end up a turning point in the season.

The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks get things started on Thursday in a match that will catapult one team to the top of the NFC West.

On Sunday, Detroit takes on Dallas and in one of the top QB matchups of the season so far, the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson throws down against Washington’s superstar rookie Jayden Daniels.

Check out NFL QB matchup analysis and picks for the top quarterback throwdowns in NFL Week 6.

Writer’s NFL Quarterback Picks for the Week 6 Matchups

San Francisco Brock Purdy at Seattle Geno Smith

Thursday, October 10th, 2024

San Francisco’s 24-23 home loss to the Cardinals was a huge blow.

Brock Purdy tossed 2 interceptions which tells us he could lose this battle with Geno Smith.

Ah, but Smith and the Seahawks also lost.

Still, Geno threw for 284 yards and a TD with no INTs.

Since this is in Seattle, Smith posts the better stats.

NFL Week 6 QB Pick: Geno Smith

Washington Jayden Daniels at Baltimore Lamar Jackson

Sunday, October 13th, 2024

Jayden Daniels is going to post monster stats.

The man is a Lamar clone with the ability to both run the football as well as sling 60-yard darts.

But as good as Daniels is, he’s against the reigning MVP.

Jackson is on fire.

Lamar has thrown for 1,206 yards and 9 TDs to a single interception.

He’s rushed for 363 yards and a couple of TDs.

Put over in all your parlays and back Lamar to throw for more yards and possibly run for more as well.

NFL Week 6 QB Pick: Lamar Jackson

Detroit Jared Goff at Dallas Dak Prescott

Sunday, October 13th, 2024

Prescott orchestrated a final minute drive to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The victory was nice and the Boys do take on the Lions at home, but Goff has the advantage in this matchup.

Detroit’s defense is one of the best in the league at stopping the rush.

Because Dallas can’t rush the football, Detroit could sit in a Cover 2 and pressure Dak all day.

It worked for Pittsburgh but the Steelers didn’t have the offense to help their excellent D.

The Lions will move the ball versus the Boys.

Goff gets the QB win.

NFL Week 6 QB Pick: Jared Goff

Tampa Bay Baker Mayfield at New Orleans Derek Carr

Sunday, October 13th, 2024

Mayfield versus Carr should be a great throw down.

But although Carr has the ability to light up the scoreboard, Baker is having a special season.

Mayfield and the Bucs were an OT away from remaining undefeated.

Tampa will get back on the winning side of things.

Lest we forget, the Buccaneers beat the Saints in New Orleans last season.

A repeat of that, with Baker outplaying Carr, is more than probable given the Saints must prepare for the Buccaneers after a Monday night game in Kansas City.

NFL Week 6 QB Pick: Baker Mayfield

Arizona Kyler Murray at Green Bay Jordan Love

Sunday, October 13th, 2024

Kyler Murray is one of the most electrifying quarterbacks in the NFL but the Arizona offensive system doesn’t always flatter his abilities.

One of the reasons is because the Cards want to protect their franchise quarterback.

Murray posted terrible stats and the Cards beat the 49ers.

So we can assume that the Cardinals could be competitive with Green Bay even if Love outplays Murray on the stat sheet.

This isn’t a slam dunk win for Green Bay but Love does get the QB matchup victory.

NFL Week 6 QB Pick: Jordan Love

Monday, Oct 14

Buffalo Josh Allen at NYJ Aaron Rodgers

Sunday, October 13th, 2024

A few weeks ago this was one of the most anticipated quarterback matchups of the season.

Heading into NFL Week 6, though, it’s obvious that Aaron Rodgers and the Jets don’t have it.

The Jets are 2-3 and can’t move the football.

Rodgers has thrown 4 picks, he’s thrown 4 picks in an entire season before, and isn’t on the same page as his receivers or running back Breece Hall.

The Jets’ offense is in a quagmire.

The Bills almost rallied against the Texans.

Allen wasn’t his usual take over the game self, which means Josh dominates in this.

Bills win straight up and Allen wins the QB matchup.

NFL Week 6 QB Pick: Josh Allen

What are the Point spread for NFL games?

Understanding NFL Point Spreads

NFL point spreads are a popular betting option that levels the playing field between favored and underdog teams.

Here’s how they work:

  • The favorite:
The team expected to win is given a negative point spread, indicating how much they are favored to win by.
For example, a favorite of -7 points needs to win by more than 7 points for you to win your bet.
  • The underdog:
The team expected to lose is given a positive point spread, representing the number of points they can lose by and still cover the spread.
For example, an underdog of +7 points can lose by 7 points or fewer (or win) to cover the spread.

Point spreads are designed to make the game more competitive and offer equal betting opportunities for both teams.

NFL Week 6 QB Matchups Lines, Analysis & Predictions for Every Game

Previous Betting News

Now that Week 5 of the NFL season is behind us; it’s time to take a look at the Week 6 matchups. Let’s take a look at the quarterback matchups in each game, and we’ll give you our NFL Betting predictions for each game as well.

Week Six Quarterback Matchups | NFL Betting Predictions

Washington Commanders @ Chicago Bears (-1)

This could be another Thursday night clunker. Ron Rivera has blamed Carson Wentz for the poor play of the Washington offense. The Bears offensive coaching staff won’t seem to turn Justin Fields loose. Something’s gotta give here. We like the Bears to win a low-scoring affair at home and cover the spread.

San Francisco 49ers (-5.5) @ Atlanta Falcons

Jimmy Garoppolo is going to need to play well, as the Niners defense was hit hard by injuries in their win over Carolina. Marcus Mariota has been average at best, and if the Falcons continue to lose, we could see Desmond Ridder at some point. The Niners win, but won’t cover.

New England Patriots @ Cleveland Browns (-3)

Bailey Zappe has looked decent after taking over for the injured Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer. Jacoby Brissett has been serviceable for the Browns. Cleveland gets the win in this one, covering the spread.

New York Jets @ Green Bay Packers (-7)

Zach Wilson has looked good since coming back from injury. The Jets are relying heavily on the running game. Aaron Rodgers will be mad after losing to the Giants last week. The Jets are playing over their heads, and they’ll come back down. Green Bay wins by 10.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts (-2)

Trevor Lawrence was getting rave reviews until last weekend’s clunker. Matt Ryan hasn’t looked good in Indy blue as of yet. The Colts are eventually going to start playing well. Jonathan Taylor could be back next week. The Colts win by a touchdown.

Minnesota Vikings (-3) @ Miami Dolphins

After the Jets took it to the Dolphins, the Vikings are the road favorites. Kirk Cousins has done some nice things this season. We’re not sure who’ll be under center for the Dolphins. It could be any of the three quarterbacks, depending on the concussion protocol. Until we know who’s under center, it’s hard to make a prediction. However, we like Miami right now.

Cincinnati Bengals (-1.5) @ New Orleans Saints

The Cincinnati offensive line isn’t as nearly improved as many thought they’d be. Joe Burrow hasn’t lived up to expectations. We’re not sure whether we’ll see Andy Dalton or Jameis Winston under center for the Saints. This could be a breakout game for Cincinnati. Take the Bengals and the cover.

Baltimore Ravens (-5) @ New York Giants

Daniel Jones has been hobbled by a bum ankle, but the running game has led the Giants to a 4-1 record. Lamar Jackson is one of the most dynamic players in the game. The Giants are riding high, but they’ll come back down next week. Baltimore leaves Jersey with a big win and a cover.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8) @ Pittsburgh Steelers

At some point, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are going to have to wake up, right? Well, the Steelers have been the team to play when your offense is struggling. The Tampa Bay defense should have its way with Steelers rookie Kenny Pickett. While Tampa wins, we’re not confident in them covering.

Carolina Panthers @ Los Angeles Rams (-11)

Baker Mayfield is out. Matt Rhule is out. PJ Walker is in. Steve Wilks is in. The Panthers are a mess, and will the coaching change fix things? Only time will tell. The Rams offensive line is also a mess. The Rams can’t run the ball. Matthew Stafford just hasn’t gotten going, but the Panthers could be just what he needs. The Rams win by 10 and don’t cover.

Arizona Cardinals (-3) @ Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith has been one of the biggest surprises in the league, as the Seahawks haven’t missed Russell Wilson at all. Kyler Murray has been one of the league’s biggest disappointments. Seattle is better than people give them credit for. They beat the Cardinals on Sunday.

Buffalo Bills (-1) @ Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes vs. Josh Allen. What a game this will be. The Bills haven’t been able to beat the Chiefs, until now. Buffalo wins on a late field goal.

Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles (-5)

Could we see the return of Dak Prescott, or will Cooper Rush continue to lead the Cowboys. The Eagles are the league’s only undefeated team. Jalen Hurts has done a great job thus far. Philly shows that they’re the class of the NFC East. They beat Dallas by a touchdown.

Denver Broncos @ Los Angeles Chargers (-5.5)

We don’t know the status of Russell Wilson yet. Justin Herbert has had injury problems in his receiving corps. Austin Ekeler has kicked it into gear over the last couple of weeks. The Denver defense is good, and will keep this close. The Chargers win, but won’t cover.

A couple of important division games, Dallas at Philadelphia and Chargers at Broncos, also happen in week 6. Check out analysis and early NFL Betting picks for seven terrific contests in NFL Week 6.

Must Bet Games in Week 6 of the 2022-23 NFL Season

2022 NFL Week 6

When: Thursday, Oct. 13 – Monday, Oct. 17

New England Patriots at Cleveland Browns | Sunday, Oct. 16

Deshaun Watson might still be on the bench waiting out an 8-game suspension. If that’s case, Mac Jones and New England should do enough for the road win.

Even if Watson plays, the Patriots could be difficult to beat. If Deshaun does put on the cleats, the Patriots may offer overlay odds against the spread.

NFL Week 6 Pick: New England Patriots

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts | Sunday, Oct. 16

Jacksonville should be a much better team than people believe. By week 6, we’ll know for sure. If you believe the Jaguars are a decent team, they won’t get as many points versus Matt Ryan and the Colts than we might think. Still, Jacksonville can cover whatever the spread, even if they’re a 1 or 2 point favorite. The Jags have a good defense and Trevor Lawrence will be a much better quarterback in 2022.

NFL Week 6 Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars

Minnesota Vikings at Miami Dolphins | Sunday, Oct. 16

Week 6 is early, but it’s not too early for teams like the Vikings and Dolphins to play for a wildcard spot. Both teams will struggle to win their respective division, Minnesota is in the NFC North and Miami is in the AFC East, but both can make the playoffs via a wildcard.

In this game, the Dolphins have the edge. Unless Tua Tagovailoa doesn’t take the next step, the Fins should play well enough to win and cover.

NFL Week 6 Pick: Miami Dolphins

Cincinnati Bengals at New Orleans Saints | Sunday, Oct. 16

Barring injuries, Bengals versus Saints will be a great game. New Orleans is tough to beat at home and the Saints will have one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Cincinnati improved their offensive line and has a good defense. Because the Saints play in the Superdome, they get the nod against the spread.

NFL Week 6 Pick: New Orleans Saints

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs | Sunday, Oct. 16

If Kansas City and Buffalo have both dominated in their first 5 games, this could be a battle for the best record in the league. KC has a big edge because this happens at Arrowhead Stadium, but Buffalo should be the slightly better team.

In last season’s KC versus Buffalo game, the Bills’ Josh Allen dominated. Kansas City’s defense is going to have a tough time containing Allen. Bills win and cover.

NFL Week 6 Pick: Buffalo Bills

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles | Sunday, Oct. 16

Dallas coach Mike McCarthy feels the Cowboys can win the Super Bowl. The roster is deep with talent, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb will be a force, and the defense should be one of the best units in the NFL.

The Eagles feel they’re the class of the NFC East. This game could go a long way in determining which team wins the division. In this head-to-head, the Boys are the play. Dallas has a huge edge at quarterback.

NFL Week 6 Pick: Dallas Cowboys

Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos | Monday, Oct. 17

Chargers versus Broncos is a division game that could determine which AFC West team is in the best position for either a division title or a wildcard spot.

This game should come down to which quarterback can beat the opposing defense. Russell Wilson is good enough to beat the Bolts’ D. But the Chargers’ defense should be better than Denver’s this season.

Justin Herbert could torch the Broncos’ D. LAC has a real shot to grab an SU win. The Chargers should definitely cover.

NFL Week 6 Pick: Los Angeles Chargers
