There are a lot of things that go into deciding how a team will perform in any given season. You have to look at the players that each team has available to them, how strong their division is, and what their strength of schedule looks like. It is that latter component that can very often make or break whether a team is able to surpass the win total the bookies given them prior to the start of the season. There is absolutely no doubt that the AFC West looks to be one of the toughest divisions in football this year, with a case to be made for all 4 teams potentially coming out on top. For the purposes of this piece, we are going to be looking at the Las Vegas Raiders, whose win total has been set at 8 ½ for the coming season. They have the 3rd toughest strength of schedule, so it’s no surprise that the Sportsbook see them taking a step back this year. With all that in mind, let’s jump right into our analysis so you can plan your bets against the NFL Team Totals odds.
LA Raiders Win/Loss Total Prediction for the 2022 Season | NFL Betting
Raiders 2022 Schedule
The Raiders won 10 games last season and made it into the Wild Card Game, where they lost to the Cincinnati Bengals. Given the Gruden drama last season, it was a good showing, but things will be tougher this time around, starting with the Chargers on the road, followed by a home game versus the Cardinals, and then a road trip to Tennessee. They will do well to go 2-1 in September.
October begins with a road trip to KC, after which they have a winnable home tilt against the Houston Texans. You would also like the Raiders to win on the road versus the Saints. Definitely should be at least 2-1 in October.
The Raiders should start November with a road win against the Jaguars, and while their next game is a tough one, they have the home field edge versus the Colts. They close out November with a pair of games on the road versus the Chargers and Seahawks, from which you would expect them to get at least 1 win.
The month of December begins with a home game against the Chargers, which really could go either way. A road trip to face the defending Super Bowl champions looks like a loss, but a home game versus the Patriots looks winnable, as does a trip to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers.
The Raiders will close out the season in January with a pair of games at home. They will face the 49ers in Week 17 before closing things out against the Chiefs. It’s a tricky couple of games to be sure, but playing at home suggests that they should be able to get a win in one of them.
Win Total Prediction
The Raiders have been busy this offseason, with the signing of Davante Adams considered one of the best moves made by any team in the NFL. They are going to need all the help they can get to navigate what is truly a difficult schedule, but I do think they might be able to cross the 8 ½ win mark, albeit only just. Whether that is enough to get them into the playoffs again remains to be seen.
