The Washington Commanders and Denver Broncos both find themselves on extended losing streaks, with their hopes of making the playoffs in serious jeopardy as a result. This week, both teams have a chance to end their respective runs of poor form against one another. But to do that, both teams will have to elevate their games on the offensive side of the ball as they look to get back into the win column at Mile High.
NFL Betting Preview for Washington vs Denver
Washington Football Team
Washington enters this game on a three-game losing streak, with the Football Team’s last win coming on the road in Atlanta four games ago. Since then, they have been defeated by the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. This week, Washington gets a much more winnable game against an opponent in Denver that is also struggling to find their footing after a fast start.
For Washington to come away with a win this week, Taylor Heinicke is going to need to deliver a better performance than he has over the last three weeks. Heinicke has thrown two touchdown passes and four interceptions during the Football Team’s three-game losing streak.
Washington is 1-6 against the spread this season, which is the worst record against the number in the NFL, with Heinicke’s recent performances being a big reason why. But the defense of the Washington Football Team has also been a problem, with Washington allowing 30 or more points in five of their last six games.
Denver Broncos
It has been a tale of two halves of the season for the Denver Broncos so far this year. After beating up on the lowly Giants, Jets and Jaguars, Denver has lost four straight games to the Ravens, Steelers, Raiders and Browns. All four of the teams that the Broncos have lost to this season have records of .500 or better, while all three of the teams they have beaten are sub-.500 clubs on the year.
This week, the Broncos take on another team that has a record below .500, which bodes well for them based on the start to their season. But Denver will need to deliver offensively if they want to get back into the win column for the first time in over a month. The Washington defense is allowing 7.5 yards per pass attempt this season and is very beatable, with the question being whether or not the Broncos’ offense is good enough to take advantage.
Washington Football Team vs. Denver Broncos Pick: Broncos -3
This game is going to be decided by the passing attacks of these two teams, as the team who is best able to elevate its below-average aerial attack should come out on top here. At home, with a unique home-field advantage, the Broncos should be the team that fits that billing, as they are the best choice when backing a side in this matchup. Washington’s unimpressive defense should have trouble with the high altitude in Denver, which will swing things in the Broncos’ favor late on.
