Super Bowl XXXII: Denver Broncos (+11) vs Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers headed into Super Bowl 32 as 11 point favorites as people expected this to be another addition to the Super Bowl collection.

However, the Broncos were able to win 31-24. Brett Favre vs John Elway was a battle of two Hall of Fame quarterbacks but running back Terrell Davis was the difference for the Broncos as he had 30 carries for 157 yards and three touchdowns to keep the Packers at bay.

Super Bowl XXXVI: New England Patriots (+14) vs St. Louis Rams

The Rams were two-touchdown favorites as they faced the New England Patriots that survived the playoffs thanks to the “Tuck Rule”. This game kickstarted the Patriots dynasty as it would be the first of six Super Bowls the team would win in the next 20 years.

The Rams managed to go up early 3-0 with a field goal but Ty Law returned an interception for a touchdown and Tom Brady threw an eight-yard touchdown to David Patten right before halftime to go up 14-3. Adam Vinatieri put the nail in the coffin with a field goal late in the third and the Patriots managed to upset the Rams and win this game 20-17 after St Louis tried to make it a game with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Super Bowl IV: Kansas City Chiefs (+12) vs Minnesota Vikings

The Chiefs were 12 point underdogs in Super Bowl 9 but were able to look like the favorites as they crushed the Vikings 23-7. They began with three straight field goals by Jan Stenerud to take a 9-0 lead and then a five-yard rushing touchdown by Mike Garrett to put Kansas City up 16-0 at the half.

The Vikings scored a touchdown in the third but it was all the offense could muster up. Both teams were 14-3 but the talent of the Chiefs was inferior in the sportsbooks but not on the field for this game.

Super Bowl XLII: New York Giants (+14) vs New England Patriots

The Giants were the last team in the way of the New England Patriots and an undefeated season. However, the Patriots were not able to cover a 14 point spread as they lost 17-14. In this game, Justin Tuck cemented his legacy with a pair of sacks and gave Tom Brady his first Super Bowl loss. Randy Moss found the end zone but the prolific Patriots offense was held to 14 points and 274 total yards.

Super Bowl III: New York Jets (+18) vs Baltimore Colts

The Jets were not supposed to win and everyone knew it except for Jets quarterback Joe Namath, who guaranteed a victory. However, the spread was 18 points and the Colts were the vastly superior team.

New York took a lead in the second quarter with a four-yard Mat Snell run and then three consecutive field goals to take a 16-0 lead before Jerry Hill ran in a one-yard touchdown. Johnny Unitas was just 11-of-24 for 110 yards and an interception while Joe Namath went 17-of-28 for 206 yards. The Jets played well behind wide receiver George Sauer’s eight catches for 133 yards and had the biggest upset in Super Bowl history.
