As we’re nearing the month of September, we know that the Major League Baseball season is winding down. Teams that are out of the playoff hunt are bringing up their youngsters, while teams that are fighting for playoff spots and positioning know that every game is very important. In looking at this weekend’s Major League Baseball action, we’ve found some games that we think are worth placing a wager on. Let’s take a look at some of those games so you can bet against their MLB Lines.
Must-Bet Major League Baseball Games for the Upcoming Weekend (Aug. 27 – 28th)
Colorado Rockies @ New York Mets
The Mets have been struggling as of late, so one of the best ways to get over your struggles is to host the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are one of the worst road teams in baseball, coming into New York with a 18-39 mark away from Coors Field. The Rockies are in last place in the NL West and have no shot at a playoff berth.
These two will start off their four-game series on Thursday, and Colorado will see Jacob deGrom. On Friday, Chris Bassitt will take the hill. Bassitt has been tremendous in his last five starts, only giving up one run. Saturday’s starter has yet to be determined, but Sunday will be tough for Colorado, as Max Scherzer will throw in the series finale.
We think the Mets will take at least two of the three weekend games. With Bassitt and Scherzer on the bump, things should go smoothly for the Metropolitans.
Tampa Bay Rays @ Boston Red Sox
With the New York Yankees struggling and the Rays winning 8 of 10 heading into Thursday’s action, Tampa Bay is now just 7.5 games behind the Yankees for the top spot in the East. Tampa will head to Boston for a three-game weekend set.
On Saturday, Tampa will send Jeffrey Springs to the hill. Springs is 6-3 on the season with a 2.46 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. Springs has been Tampa’s best pitcher down the stretch. With the Red Sox virtually out of the playoff chase, this one looks like a winner for the Rays.
Sunday will see Corey Kluber take the mound for the Rays. Boston has yet to announce their starter for Sunday’s game. Kluber has been a reliable veteran presence throughout the season. We’ll see what he has in store for Boston. This one looks good for the Rays as well.
Arizona Diamondbacks @ Chicago White Sox
In Sunday’s series finale, we should see a very good pitching matchup where runs could be limited. Merrill Kelly has been the top starter for the Diamondbacks this season. He brings a 10-5 record to Guaranteed Rate Field for this one. He very rarely gives up more than 3 or 4 runs, and he’ll be up against a White Sox lineup that has struggled to score for most of the season.
Kelly will be opposed by Dylan Cease. The Cy Young candidate owns a 12-6 record. Although he struggled in his last outing against Baltimore, Cease has been great this season. His ERA is 2.27 and he has struck out 182 hitters in 139 innings pitched.
We like the Sox in this one, and as we stated earlier, runs could be at a premium in this one.
