Favorite: Iga Swiatek +210

The 2023 French Open winner is hoping to score her second major title of the year. Iga Swiatek is the defending U.S. Open winner.

So although the odds are low, Swiatek, for sure, can make it back-to-back. This week, her Western & Southern Open form, the prep for the U.S. Open, has been fantastic.

Second Choice: Aryna Sabalenka +440

Sabalenka has won three of the top tournaments this season, including taking the first major of the year, the Australian Open. Aryna beat Elena Rybakina in the final of the Aussie Open.

The second odds choice beat Iga Swiatek in the final at the Mutua Madrid Open. So if it comes down to Sabalenka and Swiatek, Aryna does have a victory over her rival.

Third Choice: Elena Rybakina +520

Elena Rybakina versus Aryna Sabalenka was one of the stories earlier this season. Sabalenka took the final victory over Rybakina in the Australian Open.

But in the BNP Paribas Open, Rybakina turned the tables, beating Sabalenka in the final. At the odds, Rybakina is the more attractive play over Swiatek and Sabalenka, but can she turn it around after falling in the third round at the Western & Southern Open?

U.S. Open Women Singles Favorite Betting Analysis

Among Sabalenka, Rybakina, and Swiatek, it’s difficult to choose. All three have the talent to win the U.S. Open. Rybakina, though, didn’t play well at the Western & Southern Open.

So among the three, she’s the least likely to lift the trophy. Between Sabalenka and Swiatek, it comes down to which player has geared up the best to take the title.

But there’s also another factor. Aryna Sabalenka almost offers a double payout compared to Swiatek. The odds are too high to ignore. Aryna Sabalenka is the choice among the chalk to win the U.S. Open Women’s Singles title.

Men’s Singles Favorite: Carlos Alcaraz +119

Alcaraz is on fire this year. Carlos has won six singles titles, including turning the tables on tennis’ GOAT, the great Novak Djokovic, in the finals at Wimbledon.

But although Carlos has played great tennis, he’s not unbeatable. He fell to Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals at the Omnium National Bank a few tournaments ago.

Djokovic beat Alcaraz in the finals at the French Open earlier in the year. So Carlos will have to be focused to win the final major of the season.

Men’s Singles Second Choice: Novak Djokovic +148

Djoker had his sights on a Grand Slam. Carlos Alcaraz ended those ambitions in the final at Wimbledon but that doesn’t mean Novak isn’t fired up to win the U.S. Open.

In fact, we should expect a more motivated Novak Djokovic at this year’s U.S. Open then, well, ever. Djoker refused the COVID-19 jab, which means this is the first U.S. Open for Djokovic since before the pandemic.

When asked, Novak says he doesn’t regret his decision. Djokovic, for sure, will be at his best to beat his younger foe and take home his third major title of the year.

Men’s Singles Third Choice: Daniil Medvedev +480

The 2021 U.S. Open winner has won five singles titles this season. The highlight win was taking the title over Carlos Alcaraz in the final at the BNP Paribas Open.

However, like the third choice on the women’s singles side, Medvedev isn’t heading to Flushing Meadows playing his best. Daniil lost in the third round at the Western & Southern Open. So he’s not the sharpest he’s been this season.

U.S. Open Men’s Singles Favorite Betting Analysis

Daniil is showing signs of wear and tear. Medvedev appears too tired to take his game to the level required to win the U.S. Open.

Alcaraz, for sure, can win back-to-back U.S. Open titles. Carlos is the most athletically gifted tennis player in the world. When he’s one-hundred percent, he’s close to unbeatable.

But even Carlos Alcaraz wills struggle to beat the most motivated player at this year’s tournament.

Novak Djokovic is on a mission to win another U.S. Open title. He feels slighted because of a personal decision, which he believes was the right one. Djoker will be at his best. Also, Alcaraz had to dig deeper than he ever has to get by Novak in the Wimbledon Final.

Can Alcaraz do it in two straight major finals? Not likely. Novak Djokovic is the pick among the favorites to win the U.S. Open.

The famed Torrey Pines will be the host for this year’s US Open Championship. This will be the second time that Torrey Pines has hosted the US Open. The only other time was in 2008 when the famous Tiger Woods-Rocco Mediate marathon playoff took place. The South Course at Torrey Pines is a lengthy par-71 course. The lengthy, narrow fairways will make it tough for the golfers this week. The wind could also play a huge part in the tournament results. Torrey Pines will make for a very tough US Open. A Closer Look at the Upcoming US Open Tournament

Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka are three of the top favorites to win this year’s US Open. All three of these golfers hit it long off of the tees. Accuracy can be an issue for these three at times, as they’ve all struggled with driving accuracy in the past. If their drives aren’t hitting the fairways, it could make for a long week for them.

Jon Rahm is coming off of a short layoff. While up six shots at the Memorial at Muirfield Village, the PGA Tour notified him that he had tested positive for COVID-19, and was forced to withdraw from that tournament. Rahm has one career victory at Torrey Pines, winning there in 2017. He doesn’t have the best history at the US Open, but he does have a third-place finish under his belt. If Rahm can keep his drives in the fairway, and can control his temper when things don’t go his way, he has a great shot at winning this tournament.

As for Bryson DeChambeau, he is one of the longest hitters on the tour. Winged Foot, where DeChambeau won his US Open, is much like Torrey Pines. The narrow fairways and rough brush didn’t seem to bother him there. However, DeChambeau doesn’t have the best history at Torrey Pines. DeChambeau has missed his last two cuts in tournaments that he has played there. If he can keep the ball in the fairway, he should be around to challenge for the title on Sunday.

Brooks Koepka knows what it takes to win US Opens. He has two US Open title victories. The main question with Koepka this weekend will be his health. His right knee still isn’t 100%, but he has shown that he can fight through the injury. Koepka has missed the last two cuts at Torrey Pines, so he’ll really want to play well to show everyone that he can win here. 

After a brief analysis on Rahm, DeChambeau, and Koepka, the million-dollar question is, who will win this year’s US Open? We’re leaning towards Jon Rahm. Rahm has yet to win a major, but we feel that he has a great shot at solving Torrey Pines. Even though he’s coming off of a short layoff, he was playing great golf prior to having to take time off. If he can drive well and handle the pressure of being one of the favorites to win, we feel that Rahm can outlast this field to win his first major title.

The third major of the year will be one of the toughest tests this season at The Country Club, the site for this year’s tournament. Who will be the one to walk away at the end of the week with the U.S. Open trophy?

+1100 Odds

Scottie Scheffler has since cooled off from his outrageous run of wins, including The Masters earlier this season. He did lose in a playoff recently to Sam Burns at the Charles Schwab Challenge, but he is tied for the best odds for the U.S. Open. 

Scheffler set the golf world on fire at the beginning of the season when he won four tournaments in six starts. He had a poor performance at the second major of the year, the PGA Championship when he missed the cut. Scheffler will be looking for a bounce-back performance and for his fifth win this season. 

+1200 Odds

Jon Rahm knows a thing or two about raising up the U.S. Open trophy as he won his first major last year at Torrey Pines. Rahm is currently the second-best player in the world and could reclaim the number one spot with a win next week. Rahm would be the first back-to-back winner since Brooks Koepka at the 2017 and 2018 U.S. Opens. 

Justin Thomas, the two-time major winner, is tied with Rahm for the second-best odds in the tournament. Thomas is coming off a big win at the PGA Championship earlier this year and would love to add to his major championship resume. He has played in just one tournament since his big win, which would allow his game to be in good shape for next week. 

+1400 Odds

You can get a lot of bang for your buck at +1400 odds. Both Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa share the third-best odds in the tournament. McIlroy, the seasoned veteran, and Morikawa, the rising start within the PGA Tour, both could use a big win to boost their status and points this season. 

Collin Morikawa is a two-time major winner but is looking for his first U.S. Open victory. His best finish in the U.S. Open was a T-4 finish last year at Torrey Pines. A win could boost Morikawa up the world ranking board as well. 

This has not been the best of seasons so far for Morikawa, as he has only managed four top 10 performances with two missed cuts. The rising star has collected at least one win in each of the last three years but is still looking for his first this season. 

Lastly, Rory McIlroy is looking for his second U.S. Open Championship with a win this week at The Country Club. McIlroy has had a successful season in the last four tournaments, which includes three top 10 finishes. 

McIlroy previously won the U.S. Open in 2011 at Congressional Country Club. It was his first major title when he had the eight-shot victory over the field.

McIlroy will be chasing his second U.S. Open win just eleven years after winning his first at the Congressional Country Club which was also his first major win. Look for him to stay hot during this impressive season.

+1050 Justin Thomas

Like McIlroy, had a strong showing at the RBC Canadian Open with a third-place finish and now finds himself with the second-best odds to win the U.S. Open. Thomas is looking for his second major win of the season as he previously won the PGA Championship in May. He followed up this win with a surprising cut at the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge but has since got right back on track. 

Thomas has finished in the top five in three of his last four tournaments and in the top ten in four of the last six. Look for Justin Thomas to sustain this form heading into the U.S. Open.

+1200 Scottie Scheffler 

Prior to the RBC Canadian Open, Scottie Scheffler was the favorite for the U.S. Open and now finds himself with the third-best odds. That shouldn’t trouble fans as Scheffler still has a great chance of winning this tournament as he looks for his fifth win of the season. Although he missed the cut at the PGA Championship, Scheffler has been impressive this year with four tournament wins (including The Masters), a second-place finish at the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge and T18 in the RBC Canadian Open.

Scheffler finished T7 in the previous U.S. Open and looks for his second major win of the season. He has eight top 20 finishes and looks to add another for the win.

2022 U.S. Open – Other Names To Consider

+1325 John Rahm – The 2021 U.S. Open winner, John Rahm, enters the week with three top-10 finishes in his last five tournaments including a win in the Mexico Open in May. Looking to defend his title, Rahm also looks for his second major win of his career. 

+1800 Cameron Smith – The Australian native has been impressive this season with the win in The Players Championship and a T3 finish in The Masters. Lately, he has struggled a bit as he hasn’t cracked the top ten in his last six tournaments, including missing the cut in the RBC Heritage. He will be looking for a bounce-back heading into the U.S. Open as he finished T48 in the RBC Canadian Open.

+1950 Xander Schauffele – Following a seventh-place finish in the 2021 U.S. Open, Xander Schaufele looks to continue his great play as he looks for his fourth straight tournament with a top 20 finish. In his last five tournaments, Schauffele has one top-five finish and has qualified for weekend play in three straight. 

With all the interesting news of the LIV and players leaving/getting suspended, this U.S. Open is really wide open for anyone to take. The names above are just some of the names flying around for potential winners. With strong play from many golfers this season, this has a chance to be the most entertaining major tournament of the year. The last US Open championship for McIlroy came all the way back in 2011, and he is looking for his first major win since the 2014 PGA Championship. That is too long of a drought for a golfer that is one of the best in the world. 

Xander Schauffele +2100

Xander Schauffele might hold the dubious distinction of being the best player on the PGA Tour to never have won a major, and that’s going to change at some point. It’s almost hard to believe that Schauffele has never won a major, and he has odds at +2100 to get the job done this weekend.

The US Open is always a tournament that really challenges the players with tough shots, and few are able to make tough shots like Schauffele. He did finish in third place in this event back in 2019, and he should have some confidence heading into this game. 

Brooks Koepka +4400

There was a point in time when Brooks Koepka was always considered a favorite in golf tournaments, especially at majors. Injuries have sort of derailed his career a bit, but he is also starting to bounce back and turn things back around.

Koepka just hasn’t been able to find a ton of consistency in 2022, but his best rounds are still better than most on the Tour. The fans in Brookline are expected to have an impact on the outcome, and Koepka will be a fan favorite all weekend long.
