It’s Christmas time, and the oddsmakers have just released their most updated odds to win this year’s NBA championship. Although we’ve seen a lot of strange things this season, we have a pretty good idea of who will be around at the end of the postseason.
Let’s take a look at some of the favorites to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy at the end of the NBA season so you can bet against their NBA Championship odds.
Updated NBA Championship Odds | December 20th Edition
Brooklyn Nets +250
At 21-9, the Nets are sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings. The Nets’ chances of winning an NBA title improved this week as the team announced that Kyrie Irving would be returning on a part-time basis. Irving will be able to play in road games. That was the good news.
The bad news is that just as soon as he returned, Irving was placed in the league’s health and safety protocol. He, along with Kevin Durant and eight other Nets, are now in the protocol.
They even had one of their games postponed. We’ll see how long this affects the team. When they’re all healthy, the Nets are one of, if not the best team in the league.
Golden State Warriors +600
Steph Curry is the league’s MVP thus far. He has been putting up huge numbers in leading the Warriors to a 24-6 record. With Klay Thompson’s return on the horizon, the Warriors are primed for a long playoff run.
They’ll be missing Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins for a few games due to being in the COVID protocol, but as long as they’re ready for the playoffs, the Warriors will be very hard to beat.
Milwaukee Bucks +700
The Bucks have quietly crept back up to near the top of the Eastern Conference. Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing better, and Khris Middleton is getting back into form.
The Bucks miss Brook Lopez, but the return of Donte Divincenzo has sparked them. With much of last year’s title team still together, Milwaukee knows what it takes to win in the postseason.
Phoenix Suns +800
The Phoenix Suns know that they blew their chance of winning a title last year, and they want another shot. Chris Paul and the squad have the best record in the NBA and are looking to go into the playoffs with the top seed in the Western Conference. If they continue to play at this pace, they’ll be hard to beat.
Utah Jazz +900
Now that Rudy Gobert has become much more assertive on the offensive end of the floor, many teams fear the Utah Jazz a lot more than they did last season.
The Jazz have numerous scoring threats and are good on the defensive end as well. As long as Mike Conley can stay healthy, the Jazz should be a playoff threat.
Los Angeles Lakers +1200
The oddsmakers just can’t give up on the Lakers. Even though Father Time is starting to win the battle with LeBron James, and Anthony Davis can’t ever stay healthy, Vegas seems to think that the Lakers will be there at the end.
Unless something changes, we just can’t see the Lakers being able to get to the finals.
