It’s a 2024 Eastern Conference playoff rematch and potential 2025 preview on Tuesday night when the New York Knicks visit the Indiana Pacers. Talking about the Knicks vs Pacers Picks, New York comes out as a slight favorite on the NBA odds — but that could change depending on a few injuries.

Knicks vs Pacers Series History
The teams have split two games this season and last met on Nov. 10 also in Indianapolis and the Pacers won 132-121. Bennedict Mathurin scored a career-high 38 points, including a career-best seven 3-pointers, and Tyrese Haliburton added 35 points. Myles Turner finished with 26 points for the Pacers, who drained 21 3-pointers and outscored New York 63-21 from beyond the arc. That said, the Knicks still led 61-58 at halftime and 94-92 entering the fourth quarter. Jalen Brunson had 33 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for the Knicks, who beat Indiana in last year’s playoffs.
Why Bet on New York?
The Knicks had a two-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 131-104 home defeat to Boston in a possible Eastern Conference Finals preview. Jalen Brunson was a rare Knick to play well with 36 points and five assists in 36 minutes. He scored 30-plus points for the 18th time this season and has scored 30 or more points in three of his last five appearances, averaging 30.6 points and 8.4 assists in that five-game span.
“I mean, I said that playing them, it’s always to see where we are. We see where we are,” Brunson said. “Not where we want to be. Today as a whole was unacceptable.”
Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart, who both had landed on the injury report before the game with nagging knee issues, and fellow starter Mikal Bridges, had largely ineffective games as the Knicks were outrebounded 28-18 in the first half and 48-30 overall. Towns managed a season-low nine points on 3-for-8 shooting in 28 minutes, while Hart finished minus-31 with three turnovers in 38 minutes.
“The rebounding was problematic to start,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. “It was problematic throughout.”
Towns was listed questionable before the game with a knee injury, tied his fewest attempts in a game this campaign, finished with fewer than 10 rebounds for just the eighth time this year, and admitted afterward that he wasn’t 100 percent. New York remains without starting forward OG Anunoby, who won’t return from his toe issue until after the All-Star break. Anunoby had been averaging 16.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals over 36.3 minutes per game.
Center Mitchell Robinson, who has been sidelined since undergoing ankle surgery last summer, hopes to return to action by March 1. He recently received medical clearance to practice without restrictions and is expected to begin participating in five-on-five scrimmages soon. There were several trade rumors involving Robinson over the past month, but the Knicks reportedly didn’t have any substantial talks about moving him. Instead, they sent backup big Jericho Sims to Milwaukee as part of a four-team deal that has left the team somewhat short-handed in the middle.
New York ranks second in the league in offensive rating (119.6). Brunson is ninth in the NBA in both scoring (26.3 points per game) and assists (7.5), while Towns is 18th in scoring (24.0) and second in rebounding (13.5). Both are efficient scorers, with Brunson shooting 49 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from 3-point range, while Towns is at 53.1 percent from the field and 42.8 percent from beyond the arc.
The Knicks are 23-6 against sub-.500 clubs, but just 11-12 against teams with records .500 or better. They’re 0-3 against the Cavaliers and Celtics, who sit in first and second place, respectively, in the East. And the Knicks dropped both of their contests against the Thunder, who own the league’s best mark.
^Why Bet on Indiana?
Indiana was upset at the Lakers on Saturday, 124-117, to conclude a four-game road trip at 2-2. Los Angeles jumped to a 25-point lead in the first half despite playing without Luka Doncic and LeBron James. Indiana lost for only the fourth time in 17 games.
Saturday was one of the Pacers’ worst starts of the season, but they had issues in all four games of that trip. They were down 42-22 at the end of the first quarter to the Clippers on Thursday in Inglewood. They also lost the first quarter 27-18 to Portland — falling behind by as many as 11 points. In Utah last Monday, they fell behind 28-13 to start the game and had to rally to finish the first quarter down 32-24.
If those four first quarters had amounted to a full game, the Pacers would’ve lost it 145-86. Before the road trip began, the Pacers had a +5.4 net rating in first quarters for the season which was its best net rating in any quarter. But this week their first quarters were so bad the net rating edge has nearly disappeared and is now down to +0.3.
“We had big deficits in Utah, we had big deficits in Portland, had a huge deficit in the first quarter against the Clippers … and then again today. You cannot survive doing this, and having these kinds of poor starts. We’ve got to look in the mirror. I’ve got to look and consider everything. We have to be better at the beginning of the game. We have to go harder, we have to fight harder,” Coach Rick Carlisle on the loss.
Tyrese Haliburton had 19 points and nine assists in a losing effort, just missing his 16th double-double of the season. Haliburton hasn’t reached double-digit assists since Jan. 10, a stretch of 11 straight appearances in which he’s averaging 15.2 points and 7.2 assists. Pascal Siakam led the team with 23 points while adding six rebounds and four assists. It was the sixth time in the last seven games that Siakam has scored 20-plus points. He has scored at least 15 points in every game since the calendar flipped to 2025, averaging 22.5 points and 7.7 boards over the past 17.
Siakam last week became the 16th player in franchise history to be named an NBA All-Star as he was selected as an Eastern Conference reserve. He’s 20th in the NBA in field goal percentage (.531) and 27th in 3-point percentage (.411).
Center Myles Turner missed it with a cervical strain after taking an inadvertent blow to the face from teammate Bennedict Mathurin in last Thursday’s win over the Clippers. Turner, who is day-to-day, is averaging 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game this season. He’s also shooting a career-best 39.8% from 3-point range with a career-high 2.0 3-point field goals per game. Turner needs three rebounds to pass Reggie Miller (4,182 career rebounds) for ninth place in franchise history.
With a win on Tuesday, the Pacers would take the season series with the Knicks for the second straight year. Counting the playoffs, Indiana has won its last five games against New York at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Pacers forward Obi Toppin’s younger brother, Jacob, is in his second season on a two-way contract with the Knicks. Obi Toppin was drafted by New York with the eighth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and spent his first three seasons with the Knicks.
