The trade deadline is approaching fast, with teams looking to make some moves that could turn them into a playoff force. Of course, you also have teams writing off the season looking to dump players and salaries in favor of looking ahead at a potential rebuild. On top of all that, you have the ongoing battle for those precious playoff spots happening on a nightly basis, so there really is a lot going on with the NBA at the moment. As we do every week at this time, we’re going to take a look at the latest headlines and rumors to help you stay up to date on the betting lines of what’s happening in the NBA, so let’s get to it.
Lakers Trade for HachimuraThe Lakers may be sitting below the play-in line at the moment, but the nature of the Western Conference has them very much in it, as they are just 3 games out of the #6 seed. The Lakers proved that they are still serious about doing something this season, as they traded to acquire the services of Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards. Hachimura has been unhappy with his contract situation for a moment and is essentially playing second fiddle to Kyle Kuzma. Kendrick Nunn went to Washington in the trade in a move that seems to suit all parties.
Miles McBride Staying PutAs you expect this time of year, there are a lot of rumors swirling about players that might potentially be on the move. One player that has been getting some attention is Miles McBride of the New York Knicks. Despite not playing anywhere near his best of late, several suitors were reported to be in touch with the Knicks about swinging a potential trade, but New York has made it clear that he will not be going anywhere. Yes, they expect more from McBride, but they also believe he is a player with a ton of upside.
Could Hernangomez Be on the Move?Hernangomez of the New Orleans Pelicans has missed the last couple of games due to injury, but prior to that, he saw his minutes begin to steadily decrease. There are rumors of discontent, which is something that a couple of teams are reportedly monitoring. Two teams that are believed to be in the mix to trade for the services of Hernangomez are the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. Will either one of those teams be able to dangle the type of trade carrot that the Pelicans might be interested in nibbling on? Certainly, trading to a non-conference team does make more sense.
Porzingis Out with an Ankle InjuryThe Washington Wizards are out of the playoff picture at the moment, but with back-to-back wins, they are slowly creeping back into the mix. One thing that could derail that momentum is losing Kristaps Porzingis to an ankle injury. Reports suggest that the injury is not of the serious variety, but the timeline for his return is still set at a couple of weeks. That is more than long enough for the losses to start piling up again and the play-in line getting a little further away than is comfortable.
