The NBA is back in action this week, starting on Thursday after a great All-Star Weekend. Players should be well rested, and cohesion and comradery should start to form after the NBA’s 2023 trade deadline.
With that being said, there are some great chances to cash in this week, and we’ll dive into some of our favorite Over/Under wagers below. Let’s examine a few matchups and provide you with the NBA top picks for this coming week.
NBA Over and Under Betting Picks of the Week 18 | NBA Lines
Denver Nuggets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers OVER
When: Thursday, February 23, 2023
Where: Rocket Mortagage Fieldhouse
Time: 7:00 PM ET
TV: NBA TV
The NBA kicks off an excellent schedule in the second half with two of the top teams in the Eastern and Western division. The Denver Nuggets (41-18) hold the top spot in the Western Conference and open up against the Cleveland Cavaliers (38-23), who hold the fourth overall spot in the East.
For the Western Conference’s top team, Nikola Jokic averages a triple-double of 24.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 10 assists while shooting an astounding 63.2 percent from the floor. He may very well be the first player to win back-to-back-to-back NBA MVPs, and you can expect the Nuggets to come out firing in their first game.
The Cavaliers, on the other hand, finished off the year strong and won seven of their last eight contests while also going over the total in three of their last four. In addition, they play their best basketball at home, where they hold a second-best 25-6 record.
Expect both of these teams to come out firing, as this total is bound to go over the number.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks OVER
When: Thursday, February 23, 2023
Where: American Airlines Center
Time: 8:30 PM ET
TV: NBA TV
Also on Thursday, two Texas teams clash as the San Antonio Spurs (14-45) and the Dallas Mavericks (31-29) duke it out at American Airlines center.
The new-look Dallas Mavericks should come out with something to prove as both Luka Doncic, and Kyrie Irving look to make a run in the Western Conference to situate themselves nicely into a tightly contested Western Conference playoff battle. Both players can flat-out score and the Mavericks saw their team go over the total in five of their last seven games.
Meanwhile, the Spurs continue to struggle, and defense seems optional for them at this point. I don’t think Greg Popovich can fix this San Antonio team over night that is conceding a league-worst 122.6 points per game.
Lock in this game as one that should easily go over the total.
Miami Heat vs. Charlotte Hornets Under
When: Saturday, February 25, 2023
Where: Spectrum Center
Time: 7:00 PM ET
TV: NBA TV
The Miami Heat (32-27) and the Charlotte Hornets (17-43) battle it out on Saturday in Week 18 of NBA action. This is an interesting matchup as the have struggled to really find their identity up to this point in the season.
The one thing Miami does well is defend the basketball, Miami ranks second in opponents points per game conceding just over 108 points per game. Be that as it may, they have struggled to put the ball in the hoop as they come into this matchup dead last in total offense (108.3). Additionally, the majority of the important role players for the Heat could miss the opener, so expect this one to be a stinker.
The Hornets have been a strong under team finishing off the second half with seven games under the total out of their last nine. In addition, they struggle to score the basketball ranking 23rd in points per game, and they’ll have to play a second straight game after playing one on Friday, so they should be a little tired.
