In the world of professional football, things rarely stand still, with teams constantly making moves to try and get better. Every player, save for a few superstars, in the league knows that they could be on the move at any given time, as soon as they are deemed surplus to requirements by their current team. It can be a cruel business, but everyone knows that going in and expects that a move or a cut will come sooner rather than later. Last season, the Las Vegas Raiders had a disappointing season, one that prompted them to cut ties with QB Derek Carr and make the move to Jimmy Garoppolo. Whether that move pays off remains to be seen, but while we wait for that question to be answered, we can take a look at the teams the Raiders will face, home and away, in 2023, so let’s get to it.
2023 Analysis of Team-By-Team Opponents without calendar: Las Vegas Raiders – Home/Away
Home
As we mentioned at the top of this piece, 2022 was not the season the Raider brass had hoped it would be. They ended up finishing the season at 6-11, ending the year the same way they started it, with 3 straight losses. The Raiders were better at home than on the road, going 4-4 in their own building. The good news is that they will have 9 home games this season, so let’s look at who will be visiting Sin City, as well as the overall and road records of those teams in 2022.
Of course, the Raiders will have a trio of home games against their divisional foes. They went 3-3 in divisional play against the Chiefs, Chargers, and Broncos last year, which they will need to improve on if they want to challenge KC.
Beside that group of teams, they will also host the New York Jets (7-10, 4-5), the Green Bay Packers (8-9, 3-5), and the New England Patriots (8-9, 4-5), which is not a terrible schedule. There are some tougher ones, too, with visits from the Minnesota Vikings (13-4, 5-3) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (9-8, 5-4), as well as the New York Giants (9-7-1, 4-4).

Away
The Raiders were not particularly great on the road last season, going just 2-7 away from home. One fewer road game this year will help their cause, but they still need to be a whole lot better. As always, they will visit Kansas City, San Diego, and Denver, but let’s look at where else they will be headed. They will travel to Chicago to face the Bears (3-14, 2-7), as well as a trip to face the Buffalo Bills (13-3, 7-1). Rounding out the Raiders road games this season will be visits to the Miami Dolphins (9-8, 6-2), the Detroit Lions (9-8, 5-4) and the Indianapolis Colts (4-12-1, 2-6), who are in full rebuild mode.
All told, this looks to be a fairly favorable schedule for the Raiders, assuming that Garoppolo settles in and does a better job than the departing Derek Carr.
The road to the Super Bowl is never an easy one, but the Chiefs know exactly what it takes to go on that run and be successful. It’s a tough schedule, but again, you would expect this team to still win the division and get into double digits in terms of wins.
