Heading into the season’s final stretch, a few players have become NBA MVP odds favorites. Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers center, is the outright favorite followed by 2021 winner Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee Bucks player Giannis Antetokounmpo. See below for odds, analysis, and free picks for the 2022 NBA MVP so you can keep planning your bets against the NBA Regular Season MVP odds.
Updated NBA Regular Season MVP Odds | March 9th Edition
2021-2022 NBA Regular Season
- When: Oct. 19, 2021 – April 10, 2022
Updated NBA Regular Season MVP Odds
- Joel Embiid -120
- Nikola Jokic +200
- Giannis Antetokounmpo +750
- Ja Morant +1200
- DeMar DeRozan +1800
- Luka Doncic +2500
- Steph Curry +3500
- Devin Booker +4000
Top Pick: Joel Embiid -120
Nobody likes to back chalk, but there isn’t a more deserving player than the 76ers’ fantastic center. Embiid averages 29.7 points per.
But it’s not just his points per average that makes him the player to back. He also averages 11.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
Almost as important? James Harden and Embiid have already proven they can work together. The Beard knows that if Joel is open, his fist job is to get Embiid the ball. If Embiid sees the double-team, he’ll pass to Harden, which means Embiid’s assists per average should rise from now until the end of the regular season.
Second Pick: Giannis Antetokounmpo +750
Nikola Jokic most definitely has a chance, but we like Giannis as the second choice. Antetokounmpo has boosted his points scored, rebounds, and assists averages since the start of the second half of the season.
Giannis now averages 29.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per. The Bucks, like the 76ers, are 3 games behind the Heat for the Eastern Conference’s best record.
3 games is nothing for a team like Milwaukee, which has won 5 straight heading into a March 9 game versus the Atlanta Hawks and is close to one-hundred percent healthy.
Heading into the final month of the season, expect Antetokounmpo to ratchet up his scoring and rebounding production. He’s like to also dish more assists per in the final month.
By the time season ends, Giannis might lead the league in rebounds and points per game and be in the top three in assists each contest.
Third Pick: Nikola Jokic +200
Jokic is unreal. The dude averages close to 14 boards, over 8 assists, and over 25 points per. But the odds are light on a player that doesn’t get a ton of press.
Also, the Nuggets are a borderline play-in tournament team. They may not hold the sixth-seed, which means Denver could end up fighting for a playoff spot.
If the odds were higher, he’d be the second choice. But at +200, Giannis, by far, is the better play.
Top Underdog Pick: Ja Morant +1200
We thought about going with DeMar DeRozan, but Morant means more to his team. Also, the Grizzlies are a legit Western Conference contender because of Morant.
It’s difficult envisioning the Chicago Bulls beating Miami, Philadelphia, or Milwaukee and winning the Eastern Conference. Memphis can upset the Jazz, Warriors, and Suns and win the West.
Morant’s numbers make him a worthy MVP. He averages 27.5 points, 5.8 boards, and 6.7 assists per. As of March 8, the Grizzlies have the second best record in the NBA. So give Morant a look if you want to back an underdog.
