Writer’s Breakdown and Pick for the Seahawks vs 49ers Game

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks enter this game having lost five of their last six matchups.

Despite their struggles, Seattle has shown flashes of potential, particularly on offense.

Quarterback Geno Smith has been productive, averaging over 275 passing yards per game, but turnovers have been a problem, with Smith throwing six interceptions in his last five games. (Check out: Week 11 Quarterback Matchups)

Seattle’s defense, ranked 27th against the run, has been a major issue.

In their last meeting with the 49ers, they allowed 228 rushing yards, including big performances from backup running backs.

This week, they face an even tougher challenge with Christian McCaffrey back in the lineup.

The Seahawks will need their defense to step up and find a way to slow down San Francisco’s ground game.

Additionally, wide receiver DK Metcalf’s potential return from injury could provide a much-needed boost to their offense.

Key Players for Seattle

  • Geno Smith: The Seahawks’ quarterback needs to limit turnovers and make smart decisions to keep his team competitive.
  • DK Metcalf: If he returns, Metcalf’s ability to stretch the field will be critical for Seattle’s passing attack.
  • Boye Mafe: As a key linebacker, Mafe will play an important role in stopping San Francisco’s rushing attack.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers have found their groove after a rocky start to the season.

With the return of Christian McCaffrey, their offense looks more dynamic, and quarterback Brock Purdy has been able to lean on his star running back in critical situations.

Last week, McCaffrey totaled over 100 yards of offense in his season debut, showing why he is one of the league’s most dangerous players.

San Francisco’s defense continues to be a strength, ranking eighth in yards allowed per game.

Led by Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, the 49ers’ defense excels at pressuring quarterbacks and shutting down opposing run games.

This will be a key factor against Seattle, as the 49ers aim to control the tempo and limit Geno Smith’s opportunities.

However, injuries remain a concern.

Key players like George Kittle and Nick Bosa have missed practice time this week, and their availability could have a significant impact on the game.

Key Players for San Francisco

  • Christian McCaffrey: The star running back will be a focal point of San Francisco’s offense, both as a runner and receiver.
  • Brock Purdy: The young quarterback has shown poise under pressure and will need to continue making smart decisions.
  • Nick Bosa: As a dominant pass rusher, Bosa’s ability to disrupt Geno Smith will be a key factor for the 49ers’ defense.

Pick and Prediction

The 49ers have the edge in this matchup, thanks to their strong defense and the return of Christian McCaffrey.

San Francisco’s ability to control the game with their ground attack and pressure on defense should prove too much for a struggling Seattle team.

While the Seahawks may put up a fight, their inconsistent defense and turnover issues could make it difficult to keep pace with the 49ers.

Look for San Francisco to extend their win streak and solidify their position in the NFC West standings with a convincing victory.

Prediction: 49ers 30, Seahawks 20

NFL ATS Pick: -6.5
NFL SU Pick: -319

We have a pair of NFC West teams getting together on Sunday. This is a rematch of the Thanksgiving Night game where the 49ers beat the Seahawks. The Seattle Seahawks are on the road at the San Francisco 49ers. Seattle comes into the game reeling a bit. The Seahawks are 6-6 on the season, and have dropped three straight games. The Seahawks are coming off a Thursday Night Football loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. The Seahawks in 12 games have been outscored by 26 points this season. Seattle is 2-4 on the road.

For the San Francisco 49ers, they are red hot. After the bye, the 49ers have won four straight games. The win last week was a blowout over the Philadelphia Eagles on the road. San Francisco is 9-3, and tied with Detroit for the second best record in the NFC. The 49ers come into this game big favorites. The 49ers are listed at -10.5 over the Seahawks, with a total of 46.5 points.

Purdy in Charge of Offense

Brock Purdy has moved up the odds to win the Most Valuable Player list and done it in a hurry. The former Iowa State Cyclones signal caller, and final pick in the draft has been fantastic. Purdy has over 3,100 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. Purdy has done a great job of taking care of the football as well, with just six interceptions on the season.

While Brandon Aiyuk leads the team in receiving yards, the other name seems to get more of the attention. George Kittle and Deebo Samuel are those names. Kittle, out of Iowa has 50 receptions, 735 yards and five touchdowns. Samuel has 590 yards and three receiving touchdowns, with another four touchdowns via the ground. Aiyul settles in as the team leader in receiving yards, with six.

We have gone through some great 49ers offensive names, with no mention to the best of the bunch. Christian McCaffrey has been fantastic. The running back has 12 touchdowns on the ground in 12 games. He also has five via the pass game. McCaffrey has 1,032 yards rushing and 429 on the ground. His back-up Elijah Mitchell has just 44 carries all season.

Bosa on the Attack

Nick Bosa is one of the leaders on an incredible defense. The 49ers defensive end has 8 sacks this season. Fred Warner has also been great, as he is a tackle away from 100 on the season. Dre Greenlaw is next, with 86. Warner also has three interceptions, along with Talanoa Hufanga. The 49ers have not scored a defensive touchdown all season.

49ers Preparing for Postseason

Following this game, the 49ers are on the road at the Arizona Cardinals next week. The 49ers then will play on Christmas Day at home against the Baltimore Ravens. The final two games for the 49ers are on the road at the Commanders, and at home against the Rams.

Geno Looking to Stay Hot

Despite the loss, Geno Smith was terrific in the loss to the Cowboys. On the season, Smith has been pretty up and down. The signal caller has 15 touchdowns via the pass, and 9 interceptions. In the loss to the Cowboys, DK Metcalf had a season high three touchdown receptions from Smith. Metcalf now leads the team with six on the season. Tyler Lockett is next with 622 yards and four touchdowns.

The run game has been anchored by Kenneth Walker III for Seattle. But, the former Michigan State star missed last week, and is questionable for this week. Taking his place has been Zach Charbonnet. The former UCLA running back has 368 yards on 68 carries this season. Geno Smith is third in rushing for the Seahawks, with 92 yards and a touchdown.

Defensive Effort for the Seahawks

Linebacker Bobby Wagner leads the Seahawks in tackles. He has 127 on the season. The next most for Seattle is Jordyn Brooks, with 85. The sack leader for Seattle this season has been linebacker Boye Mafe, with 7. Darrell Taylor and Brooks have 4.5, while Jarran Reed sits at 5 on the season. The Seahawks  have been solid on defense, with three touchdowns coming via an interception. The three guys with pick 6’s on the season are Jordyn Brooks, Devon Witherspoon and Tre Brown.

Seattle Finishing up 2023

Things do not get any easier for the Seahawks following this game at San Francisco. The Seahawks host Philadelphia on December 18th. After that, the Seahawks are in Tennessee, then host Pittsburgh on New Year’s Eve. The final game for Seattle is at Arizona.

Seahawks vs 49ers Final Betting Prediction | 49ers Top Seahawks in Week 14

The San Francisco 49ers are just on another level right now. If the 49ers play the way they have played over their last four games, it will be tough to beat them in the postseason. The 49ers are shooting for home field advantage, as they would love to spend a month in lovely San Francisco, as opposed to going on the road to cold, wet Philadelphia in January or even Dallas.

The 49ers are going to win this game, and basically put an end to any hopes the Seahawks had of making the postseason. Sure, at 6-7, they are technically still alive, but it will be a struggle. Pete Carroll and his Seahawks struggle in this one. San Francisco wins big. Take the 49ers -10.5 over the Seahawks on Sunday! We really are looking forward to this big game in the NFC West. This should be a fun game, but in the end, one team is just that much better than the other.
