As we prepare for the final week of the regular season, the bookies are doing the same by posting their updated odds for the Super Bowl. We have been tracking these odds for the past few weeks and breaking down the teams still in the playoff picture into different categories. Week 17 was a wild one, especially on Monday night, when we saw the pivotal game between the Bills and the Bengals postponed after a player collapsed on the field. No word on when that game will be made up, which is important given that the teams involved could both be in the favorites category. That aside, let’s break it all down as best we can so you can continue making your bets against the Super Bowl Betting Lines.
Who’s Going to Win It All? | Updated Super Bowl LVII Betting Lines After Week 17
Favorites
The Buffalo Bills are still in as the favorite to win it all, but with the outcome of the Bengals game still up in the air, not to mention their mindset after seeing a comrade go down, their odds have slipped from +340 to +370. While that is all going on, the Chiefs continue to win and now look to be catching the eye of the bookies, with their odds shortening from +440 to +390. Whichever of these teams nabs the #1 seed in the AFC may well end up as the favorite once the regular season ends. The Philadelphia Eagles have lost 2 in a row with Jalen Hurts on the sideline and have seen their odds slip to +550. The good news is that Hurts might be back this weekend to help stop the skid.
Smart Picks
I still think it’s fair to suggest that the team who lands the #1 seed in the AFC will prove to be the smart pick. They will get a week off, which means time to rest, plus they will have home field advantage. You automatically think of either the Chiefs or Bills as the smart pick in the AFC, but it is hard to look past the Bengals, who were 7-3 up on the Bills when the game was called on Monday night. They also seem to have the number of the Chiefs and look like a very good bet at odds of +720.
There are sure to be some who are a little concerned about the form of the Eagles, but I think they will be find once they get Hurts back into the lineup. That said, getting the #1 seed is critical, as it will give their QB another week to get back to full fitness. If not the Eagles, then you have to say that the Cowboys (+1050) or the 49ers (+580), who are the hottest team in the league, look like the smart alternatives.
Longshots
Besides the teams we have already mentioned, there are a few teams who might be worth taking a gamble on. In the AFC, you have to look at the Baltimore Ravens, who hope to have Lamar Jackson back in time for the playoffs. The Ravens (+3100) look anemic at the moment, but that might change with Jackson back in the fold. Over in the NFC, are the Green Bay Packers (+3000) back in the Super Bowl conversation? They have won 4 in a row and will punch their ticket if they win this coming weekend. They might just be getting hot at the right time.
