For most fans, this is the worst part of the NFL season, as we don’t really get any more action for a couple of weeks. Yes, the Pro Bowl will be coming this weekend, but I don’t believe there are too many fans out there who are that interested in that game. All eyes are on the Super Bowl, with some bettors getting in on the action as soon as the bookies posted their odds for the big game. Others will wait to see how the lines shift, which they almost certainly will, over the next couple of weeks. We will keep you updated on all the Super Bowl Betting options, but for now, let’s take a look at the path the Philadelphia Eagles took to get to the Super Bowl, where they will face the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFC Champions Philadelphia Eagles Betting Insight On their Road to the Super Bowl
Regular Season
It seems hard to believe now, but the Philadelphia Eagles started the season in the middle of the pack on the betting board, starting at +2000 to win it all. They now come into the big game as a modest favorite at odds of -125. If you took the Eagles prior to the start of the regular season, you are probably clutching that betting slip pretty tightly right now. Let’s now take a look at how Philly made it to the championship game.
The Eagles started the season with some fans still doubting Jalen Hurts ability to be an elite QB. He started well enough, leading his team to a 38-35 win over Detroit. He was outstanding in the final 2 games in September, throwing for a combined 673 yards in comfortable wins over Minnesota and Washington.
The good times continued into the month of October, with the Eagles scoring wins over Jacksonville, Arizona, and Dallas before heading into their bye week. They came back from that and blew out the Steelers in a 35-13 victory and maintaining their perfect record through the opening 2 months of the season.
They had one more win over Houston before falling to their first loss of the season versus Washington. The Eagles bounced back from that to win 5 in a row, with their final win in that stretch ending with Hurts going out with a shoulder injury.
December continued with back-to-back losses to Dallas and New Orleans with Hurts on the sidelines, but he returned in time for a Week 18 won over the New York Giants.
Playoffs
Securing the #1 seed was huge, as it gave Hurts time to rest and recuperate that shoulder injury. Even better was the fact that he did not need to throw a ton in either the Divisional or Championship Rounds, with the defense stepping up and allowing just 14 combined points over those wins against the Giants and 49ers. That is not to say the offense was poor, as they still racked up a total of 69 points in those two outings.
Quick Betting Breakdown
Playoffs included the Eagles out together a 16-3 record, with only 1 loss coming with Hurts under center. They were an impressive 7-1 SU away from home this season. Overall, they went 10-9 ATS, but covered just twice in 8 road games, which is a concern. As far as the point total goes, the Eagles were 10-9 O/U, which included being 4-4 O/U in games away from home.
