Los Angeles Dodgers Under 96.5 +103

The National League is all about pitching, which is why the Los Angeles Dodgers could be in some trouble this season. Julio Urias is a legit ace.

The issue is that Clayton Kershaw backs up Urias. No doubt, Kershaw still has great stuff, but Clayton is 35-years-old. Eventually, he’s going to start slowing down.

Also, without Walker Buehler, the Dodgers are down to a 2-man ace rotation, not a 3-man ace rotation. In addition, the Dodgers struggled to score runs at the tail end of last season. LAD doesn’t win more than 96 games.

Los Angeles Angels Over 81.5 -110

The Los Angeles Angels should win 82 games no problem. Last season while playing for the Dodgers, starter Tyler Anderson went 15-5 and posted a 2.57 ERA.

Opponents must manage around both Ohtani and Anderson this season, which means the Angels will be way scarier. Patrick Sandoval, the third starter, landed a 2.91 ERA for 2022.

If Sandoval is nearly as good this season, the Halos will have three aces in the rotation. Ohtani bats every day and Mike Trout is healthy.

Miami Marlins Over 75.5 -125

At first glance, it doesn’t look like the Miami Marlins are going to come close to winning 76 games. A deeper dive reveals Miami could blow by the 75.5 total.

The reason? Sandy Alcantara won the NL Cy Young in 2022 as the lone ace. If 25-year-old Jesus Luzardo improves upon the 3.34 ERA he produced last season, he would be the Marlins’ second ace.

Also, Miami signed Luis Arreaza away from the Minnesota Twins. Arreaza’s presence can change the entire lineup. Everybody will start hitting better if Arreaza has great success as the leadoff man.

Houston Astros Over 95.5 -116

Framber Valdez and Christian Javier are both legit Cy Young contenders. Javier dominated the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series.

Jose Altuve is out for a while but the team is deep at the plate. Also, Luis Garcia could emerge as another great Houston pitcher. The Stros are a great play to win at least 96 games.

Minnesota Twins Over 82.5 -132

Sonny Gray, Joe Ryan, and Pablo Lopez make for a strong top of the rotation in the Minnesota Twins.

Carlos Correa makes the batting lineup more than solid. Not only that, but Cleveland and the Chicago White Sox seem a tad overrated, which might explain why money keeps landing on Minnesota over 82.5 games.

Philadelphia Phillies Over 89.5 +102

The defending National League Champions are pretty much the same team from last season except Taijuan Walker joins the rotation.

The reason for the lack of love has to do with Bryce Harper’s injury. The thinking is that without Harper, Philadelphia will struggle to score runs. There’s some truth to that, but Philadelphia has more bats than just Bryce.

San Francisco Giants Over 80.5 -105

The San Francisco Giants tend to surprise when we least expect them to. If Logan Webb improves upon a decent 2022, he will be a legit Cy Young contender.

81 games is a lot, but it’s not so many that the Giants can’t get to the number. The odds suggest SF has a big shot to win at least 81. 90, if things come together, isn’t out of the question.
