The salary cap setup in the NFL makes it difficult for teams to be dominant for extended periods of time. There are some teams that are able to stay competitive for long stretches, but there inevitably comes a time when money gets in the way and a rebuild is essential. For that reason, you will often hear football experts talk about a team having a window of opportunity to win a Super Bowl. It’s no secret that this window usually coincides with said team having a great QB under center. The Indianapolis Colts have had a very decent team for a few seasons now, but they have been missing a QB to take them on a deep playoff run. They think that they might have solved that problem in the short term by picking up Matt Ryan, but will he be the man to lead them to the promised land? It’s too early to tell, but we can look at their upcoming schedule and make some predictions as to whether or not they will pass the 9 ½ win total put in place by the Online Sportsbook. See below for an analysis as well as a NFL Team Totals Betting prediction for the Houston Texans.

Colts 2022 Schedule
If the Indianapolis Colts had been given the opportunity to create their own schedule for the coming season, the opening couple of weeks would probably have looked a lot like the hand they were delivered. They will open the season with a pair of road games, but trips to Houston and Jacksonville look more than manageable. Their first home game of the season comes against the Chiefs, who look set to perhaps take a backward step this season. This should at least be a 2-1 start to the season.
Moving into October, the Colts will once again be at home against the Titans in what should be a tough game. They then hit the road to face the Broncos before getting the Jaguars on home field. It’s then the Titans again and the Washington Commanders. It looks as though October could be another big month for Indy.
They will start November with a pair of road games versus the Patriots and Raiders, where you would expect the Colts to at least get a split. They then have home games versus the Eagles and Steelers, both of which are very much winnable.
November begins with a road trip to face the Cowboys, followed by another game on the road, this time against the Vikings. They should win at least one of those, but I would not be surprised to see them take both. They close out December versus the Chargers in what is a tough one before closing out the regular season against the Giants and Texans in January. They should come away with the win in both of their January games.
Win Total Prediction
The jury is still out on whether Matt Ryan can come into Indianapolis and make a difference, but you do have to say that, for the most part, the Colts have a very manageable schedule to work with. The 9 ½ wins looks like excellent value and I would be all over that right now, as this looks to me like a team capable of picking up 12 wins this season.
