We are at the stage of the NBA regular season when the items that make the news are often bad for the teams looking to make it into the playoffs. By that, we mean that this tends to be the time when injuries can make or break a season for the teams still in the hunt. It’s the injuries that keep player out for extended periods that do the most damage, which is perhaps why most of the headlines making the news right now is about injuries. We have several of those to report on this week, although what those mean to the teams involved remains to be seen. Without further ado, let’s dive into the latest news, rumors and betting analysis in the world of the NBA.
Latest NBA 2023 Betting News and Rumors that can influence your Basketball Betting Odds
LeBron Out for Weeks?
News coming out of LA suggests that LeBron James may have sustained an injury that will keep him out of the Lakers lineup for a few weeks. He picked up the foot injury on Sunday night against the Mavericks, and while the rumor is that the injury to his right foot could sideline him for weeks, he is also in the midst of more tests. The Lakers are sitting below the play-in in right now, but also close enough to still be in the conversation. If LeBron is indeed out for as much time as reports suggest, is the season essentially over for the Lakers?
Ball Out Through Injury
The injury sustained by LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets is perhaps not as newsworthy as the one picked up by James, but it is still bad news for his team. The Hornets are not anywhere near the playoffs, but they have been playing well of late and have won 5 in a row. Ball turned his ankle while dribbling against the Pistons on Monday night before hobbling off the court. What looked like an innocuous play turned out to be a whole lot worse, as Ball actually has a fractured ankle that will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Good News for the Warriors
Not all injuries automatically spell doom and gloom, and that is certainly the case for Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors. Green has missed a pair of game with a bruised knee, but his most recent MRI came back clear, so he should be back in the lineup sooner rather than later. He is considered questionable for the Tuesday game against Portland, but the expectation is that he will sit that one out and return later in the week. It’s better to be safe than sorry, especially at this late stage of the season.
Haslam’s to Buy Share of the Bucks
Marc Lasry, co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, is looking to sell, and it appears as though he might have a buyer for his 25% stake in the team. Word is that Jimmy and Dee Haslam, who own the Cleveland Browns, are in a buying mood, and all to the tune of $3.5 billion, according to sources close to the deal. There has been no approval on a deal from the league as of yet, but the belief is that the sale will go off without a hitch.
