NFC Rivalry Top Games: 2024/25 Season Preview & Expert Analysis

NFC Rivalry Top Games: 2024/25 Season Preview & Expert Analysis

The new NFL season is upon us, with Week 1 getting started with the Thursday night game between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.

You can’t really ask for a much better opening game of the season, as both of these teams are considered to be among the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season.

My Analysis

While both of these teams are very good, does this matchup actually count as a rivalry?

Some will say that it does, but there are plenty of other games that might be better suited to that type of billing.

That is what we are going to look at here, as we have scoured the regular season schedule to find the NFC rivalry games that jump out for us this coming season.

Green Bay Packers vs San Francisco 49ers

NFC Rivalry Game: 24/11 4:25PM ET | FOX | Week 12

The 49ers look like a team that is very much on the brink of doing something very special indeed. I have them in as my pick to win the Super Bowl this season, but they will have some tough games along the way.

Their meeting with the Packers is one that a lot of us have circled on the calendar, based in large part on their meeting in the playoffs last year.

We all know that the 49ers went to the Championship game last season, but it was by the skin of their teeth, as they needed a real battle to get past the Packers.

Minnesota Vikings vs Atlanta Falcons

NFC Rivalry Game: 8/12 1:00PM ET | FOX | Week 14

The Vikings have been one of the better teams in the league over the last decade or so, but they essentially failed to live up fully to expectations.

They have decided to move on from the Kirk Cousins era in favor of a rookie QB, although they will not have JJ McCarthy in the lineup this season due to an injury picked up in preseason.

It is still going to be fun to watch how Cousins performs against his former employer as the starter for the Atlanta Falcons this season.

Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers in Thursday Night Football

NFC Rivalry Games: 3/11 4:25PM ET | FOX | Week 9 // 5/12 8:15PM ET | Prime Video | Week 14

It was a breakout year for the Detroit Lions in 2023, as they won 12 games to take the NFC North and make it into the playoffs.

They are expected to do something similar this season, but the Green Bay Packers might well have something to say about that.

Jordan Love and the Packers had a mediocre first half of the season last year, but they seemed to put it all together in the second half, going on a late run that got them into the playoffs via the Wild Card.

The two meetings between these teams could well decide the division in 2024.

Washington Commanders vs Chicago Bears

NFC Rivalry Game: 27/10 1:00PM ET | CBS | Week 8

One of the quickest ways to affect a complete turnaround is to land a franchise QB through the draft.

Just look at what CJ Stroud did with the Houston Texans last season.

Both the Commanders and Bears will be hoping they follow a similar trajectory to the Texans this season, as both will be fielding QBs that went #1 and #2, respectively, in the draft.

The Bears will have Caleb Williams, while the Commanders will have Jayden Daniels. That alone makes this matchup feel like must see TV.

Upcoming Rivalry Games, June 4, 2024

Now that the schedule for the upcoming NFL season has been released, we probably all have our own ideas as to which games are the ones we really want to see.

Of course, those games are probably dependent upon the team that you follow, with the big rivalry games sitting at the top of the list.

My NFC Rivalry Games this season Analysis

There are, as always, a bunch of big games that fall outside of the traditional rivalries in the league that are going to garner a lot of attention, but for most of us, it’s the divisional battles against regular foes that getting the competitive juices flowing. The good news is that there are plenty of those to look forward to. Those are the games that we are going to look at here, starting with the big rivalry games in the NFC.

Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles

The battle between these two AFC East teams last season was fantastic, with the Cowboys winning the division after a late run that saw them leapfrog the Eagles and into the top spot. There are some who are suggesting that the Cowboys might be about to take a backward step this season, but I’m not so sure that is the case. I believe we are in for another close battle for bragging rights in the East, and it may well come down to the two games between these big rivals.

Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears

Perhaps it’s the history attached to these two teams that makes this matchup the most intriguing in the NFC North. You would be excused for picking the Lions against the Packers or Bears given that Detroit is on the rise, but I feel that this is the better matchup for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is the QB duel that we might be about to witness. Jordan Love seemed to have things click into place in the second half of last season, leading the Packers to the playoffs and almost getting to the Conference Final. Then we have Caleb Williams about to enter his rookie season with the Bears. This is one to watch.

Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

You might also consider the Falcons against the Minnesota Vikings as the NFC rivalry game to watch now that Kirk Cousins is in Atlanta and going against his old employer. Still, we are focusing on divisional rivalries here, so with that in mind, it’s the Falcons against the Buccaneers that gets the nod. Atlanta certainly made an upgrade in acquiring Cousins, and the Bucs will be more than aware that it will take more than 9 wins to take this division in 2024 after they won it with a 9-8 record last season.

San Francisco 49ers vs LA Rams

The 49ers may well be coming into this season with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder after losing in the Super Bowl last season. For my money, the 49ers are the team to beat this season and I like them to get the ultimate revenge by winning it all this coming season. I think they are a lock to win the West, but the LA Rams might well have something to say about that. If the Rams can get past the reigning division champs, we might just have a battle on our hands.

Best 2022 NFL Rivalry Games to Bet On: Top NFC Conference Matchups for the Season

Previous Betting News

The new NFL season is almost upon us and there are a handful of teams in each conference who you could potentially feel pretty good about making a deep run this season. That said, we usually see a dark horse or two emerge, as well as an early season favorite underperform. In terms of the NFC, the question is whether the LA Rams can make another great run and win another championship. It’s tough to do and there are a few teams in the conference who are going to have a big say on how things go. Let’s look ahead to the season schedule to find the biggest games involving NFC rivals so you can get ready to make your bets against their NLF Betting Lines.

Biggest NFC Rivalry Games in the 2022 Calendar | NFL Betting

Week 1 – Buccaneers at Cowboys

We all thought that this season would be one without Tom Brady, but just 40 days after announcing his retirement, he made it known that he was in fact coming back. The Buccaneers will have a tough test in the opening week of the season, heading on the road to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

Week 3 – Rams at Cardinals

Over the past couple of seasons, we have seen the Arizona Cardinals get off to a fast start, only to fade in the second half of the season and the playoffs. This, though, is a good team and they will almost certainly be pushing to knock the Rams out of the top spot in the division and the NFC,

Week 4 – Rams at 49ers

This was the matchup that we saw in the NFC Conference Championship Game last season, with the expectation being that both of these teams will be in the hunt to make another deep run this time around. This season, though, expect to see Trey Lance under center for the 49ers, as Jimmy G is still expected to move on.

Week 7 – Saints at Cardinals

Last season, the Saints looked good with Jameis Winston as their QB, but an injury saw his season come to an early end. He will be back and trying to lead the Saints to the promised land. They will get a stern test in Week 7 when they hit the road to go and face the Arizona Cardinals.

Week 9 – Rams at Buccaneers

Could we potentially be looking at a Conference Championship preview with this one? The Rams are loaded again, and this might well and truly be the final season for Tom Brady. We know that Brady will want to go out as a winner, so this should be an entertaining one to watch and wager on.

Week 11 – Cowboys at Vikings

There are a couple of teams in the NFC who look as though they are going to be the class of the conference, but there are a bunch who are not that far off the pace. The battle for playoff spots is going to be crazy, with both of these teams expected to be in the hunt. Good teams are going to miss out, so these rivalry games are important.

Week 15 – Packers at Rams

This is another one that could potentially be a Conference Championship Game matchup. We know all about the Rams, and while there are some concerns about the receivers group in Green Bay with Davante Adams gone, they do still have Aaron Rodgers under center.

I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
