NFL Week 2 SU Picks | MyBookie Regular Season Preview

2023-24 NFL | 104th season of the National Football League
Regular Season: Thursday, September 14th, 2023 – Monday, January 18th, 2024

Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons

SU: Packers -121
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 1:00 PM | FOX
Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA

Green Bay’s 38-20 victory over Chicago doesn’t impress because of the offense. For sure, Jordan Love showed he can get it done and is a legit starting quarterback.

But Chicago’s D is a disaster. So there’s no reason to read too much into the win. However, holding what many believed was one of the top offenses in the league heading into the season to 20 points speaks to how good Green Bay’s defense is. ATL starting QB Desmond Ridder will struggle.

Las Vegas Raiders at Buffalo Bills

SU: Raiders +350
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at1:00 PM | CBS
Highmark Stadium, Orchard Park, NY

Buffalo has zero excuses versus the Jets. The Bills knocked out Aaron Rodgers and then failed agianst Zach Wilson.

The Raiders have a real quarterback piloting their team, one who knows Josh McDaniels’ system inside and out. Las Vegas’ D is much better than advertised. Expect the odds to go lower, but no worries. Vegas is still the play.

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

SU: Ravens +144
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 1:00 PM | CBS
Paycor Stadium, Cincinnati, OH

Cincinnati is likely to bounce back with a nice victory. But, sometimes, we must take a swing on overlay odds.

The Ravens have a dynamite defense and a great offense. Rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers had a great first game. Odell Beckham got involved in the passing game. We know Lamar will get it done and the Ravens’ defense is solid. The SU odds make Baltimore an overlay.

Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

SU: Buccaneers -156
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 1:00 PM | FOX
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL

Tampa’s D held the Minnesota Vikings to 17 points. Chicago’s offense isn’t much better if it is better, which is a big question.

Baker Mayfield is, like we predicted in blogs during the offseason, an upgrade over Tom Brady. Chicago’s D is god awful. So Baker leads TB to a second straight victory.

Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars

SU: Jaguars +133
Thursday, September 7th, 2023at 1:00 PM | CBS
EverBank Stadium, Jacksonville, FL

KC’s best defensive player, end Chris Jones, will play, which is why the odds have risen on the Jags to get it done. But even with Jones back, KC could struggle versus a Jacksonville offense that can go mano y mano on the scoreboard.

If it comes down to which team plays better on D, there’s no comparison. The Jags’ D has a much deeper and talented roster. Jacksonville hands KC a second straight loss.

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans

SU: Colts -127
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 1:00 PM | FOX
NRG Stadium, Houston, TX

Colts versus Texans should be an intriguing matchup. The Colts boast one of the most talented young quarterbacks in a long time in Anthony Richardson.

C.J. Stroud is also talented. But Stroud doesn’t have the same level of skill players around him that AR 2.0 does. Michael Pittman Jr., especially, is a great WR1.

Also, the Colts’ D is better than the Texans’ defense. Colts offer excellent odds to win this straight up.

New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys

SU: Jets +365
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 4:25 PM | CBC
AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

The Jets were +149 straight up dogs to beat the Dallas Cowboys. But since Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles tendon tear in the fourth play of Monday night’s game, the odds on NYJ have risen to +365.

The Jets have a solid defense, one of the best units in the NFL. So Dak Prescott could struggle in this. If NYJ keeps the offense simple and doesn’t ask too much of Zach Wilson, who knows? There’s also the bounce factor. It will be hard for Big D not to believe they dominate, which means Dallas could underperform. Jets remain the SU pick.

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots | Sunday Night Football

SU: Patriots +112
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 8:20 PM | NBC
Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA

Miami is a good football team. But on Sunday, Tua and the Fins travel to a rival stadium to go up against one of the better defenses in the league.

The Patriots had a chance to upset the Eagles, which tells us New England is a legit playoff contender. Mac Jones looked like a different player from 2022 in the Pats’ first game of the season. Patriots get the victory.

2020 NFL Betting | Week 2 Straight Up Picks

Previous Betting News

If Week 1 is anything to go by, we are in for a fun season in the NFL this year. It was not a successful start for new head coaches, with Ron Rivera in Washington the only one to get a win for his team. It was a similar story with big name QB’s who changed address this offseason, with Cam Newton the only one to pick up the W on his debut. It is, as it always is, very easy to overreact after the opening week of football, but we are probably going to need to see a couple of more weeks of action before we can start to pass serious judgement on every team in the league. Making picks in the early going is still a rather hazardous task, but we are going to try and do just that. Besides our SU picks, we will have O/U and ATS selections coming your way. These can be played as singles, as a parlay, or as selections to be added to your own. Let’s get right to it so you can bet against their NFL odds.

2020 NFL Betting | Week 2 Straight Up Picks

Chicago Bears over New York Giants

With the picks that we make here, we are going to try and find some value plays as opposed to simply picking an overwhelming favorite. The Chicago Bears found a way to win in Week 1, with QB Mitch Trubisky coming to life late in a 27-23 win over the Detroit Lions. I am still not 100% sold in the Bears this season, but this pick is more about what the Giants do, or don’t do, on the road. The Giants are actually 4-2 SU in their last 6 meetings with Chicago, but it is their road form that concerns me. They are 1-5 SU in their last 6 games played away from home, while also going 1-8 SU in their last 9 road games versus teams from the NFC.

LA Rams over Philadelphia Eagles

I am going against a very solid trend with this one, but from what I saw in Week 1, it is a risk worth taking. The Philadelphia Eagles looked to have a rather straightforward opening game, going against a Washington Commanders that is expected to struggle this season. The Eagles jumped out to a 17-0 lead before falling apart and losing 27-17. They have won 6 in a row versus the Rams, but I saw enough out of LA in Week 1 to suggest that they might be able to halt that skid. They were efficient on offense and defensively tight against a potent Dallas Cowboys offense in a 20-17 win. I might also take the Rams ATS, so watch for that.

Minnesota Vikings over Indianapolis Colts

This is another one where we are taking a little bit of a shot when you consider previous meetings between these two. The Colts have won 5 straight versus the Vikings, as well as 6 in a row when facing them at home. Indianapolis did not look good in a 27-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, plus they are beginning to see the injuries begin to pile up. The Vikings were hammered 43-34 by the Green Bay Packers, butt his seems like a much easier task for them. I think they rebound with the win in Week 2.

2019 NFL Week 2 Odds & SU Picks

Previous Betting News

Once the new NFL season begins, we don’t really get a lot of time to reflect on the week that just finished, as it’s quickly on to new business on Thursday night. For the teams that lost in Week 1, a victory is almost a must in the second week of the season. The odds of making the playoffs decrease dramatically for teams that get off to an 0-2 start, which makes this week must win territory for some teams.

We bare going to look at several different NFL Week 2 Betting angles, but for the purposes of this piece, we are going to look at SU picks.

2019 NFL Week 2 Odds & SU Picks

San Francisco 49ers over Cincinnati Bengals (-2)

Last season, the San Francisco 49ers were brutal on the road, failing to pick up a single win in 8 attempts. In fairness, they operated the majority of the season without their starting QB under center, so those losses can be somewhat excused.

They started out this season with a win on the road against Tampa, where they also covered the spread. This week they will be in Cincinnati to face a Bengals team that should still be without star WR A.J. Green. I like the 49ers to make it 2 in a row on the road in a close one.

Tennessee Titans (-3) over Indianapolis Colts

With Andrew Luck announcing his retirement prior to the start of the season, the AFC South became a little more wide-open. The Colts lost in Week 1, but Jacoby Brissett looked good enough at the QB spot, leaving Colts fans believing that this season might not be a total wash.

The Tennessee Titans finished Week 1 with a stunning 43-13 win over the Browns on the road in Cleveland. The Titans will be home this weekend, and while they are 1-6 SU in their last 7 home games versus the Colts, I like them to get the win in this one.

New York Giants over Buffalo Bills (-2.5)

There were times in Week 1 when the New York Giants looked good on the offensive side of the football, but they ended up being totally overpowered by a Dallas Cowboys team that very much looks like the real deal.

It was more of the same for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, with their offense sputtering yet still managing to somehow outlast the New York Jets in a 17-16 win. The Giants are not a very good September team, going 1-8 SU in their last 9 in that month, but they are 4-2 versus the Bills and have the home edge here.

LA Chargers (-3) over Detroit Lions

If you take a loss in Week 1, it’s always important to try and bounce back with a win the following week. The Lions ended up tying their opening week game with the Cardinals, but it was a result that will feel like a loss given that Detroit gassed a big lead in the 4th quarter.

The Chargers were made to work hard for their opening week win, outlasting the Indianapolis Colts for a 30-24 victory. With that win, the Chargers have now won 13 of their last 16 games. Better yet, they are 6-1 SU in their last 7 games versus teams from the NFC, all of which adds up to a win in this one.

2018 NFL Week 2 SU Betting Picks

Previous Betting News

There were some big surprises in Week 1, not the least of which was the Cleveland Browns picking up a tie at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s not very often that we see a tie in the NFL, which makes you wonder if we are about to see a bit of a surprise season in 2018. While there are still a couple of games to come in the opening week, we need to start looking ahead to NFL Week 2. We will have separate articles where we make predictions ATS and O/U, but for now, let’s take a look at some SU picks for the coming week.

2018 NFL Week 2 SU Betting Picks

Washington Redskins over Indianapolis Colts

The Washington redskins made a big move in the offseason to get the QB that they wanted, and while there are still a lot of games to be played, the investment in Alex Smith is already paying dividends. Smith was on fire in the season opener against Arizona, going 21-30 for 255 yards and 2 TD’s. The return of Andrew Luck was a good one in terms of stats, but it still ended up being in a losing cause, with the Colts falling to the Bengals in their season opener. This could well be a bit of a shootout, but I think it will be the Redskins who come out on top in a close one.

LA Chargers over Buffalo Bills

The Chargers didn’t play that poorly in their opening week loss to the Chiefs, but were just outgunned by a very good looking Kansas City Chiefs team. The Chargers have made a habit of getting off to a slow start, but I don’t see them losing 2 in a row to start this season. The Bills were absolutely hammered by the Ravens in their season opener and showed nothing to suggest that they might be able to turn thigs around in Week 2. If Philip Rivers plays as well as he did in the season opener, this could be another heavy loss for the Bills.

Pittsburgh Steelers over Kansas City Chiefs

Every team has that one opponent that they always seem to struggle against. For the Kansas City Chiefs, that team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Chiefs have just 1 win in their last 7 meetings with Pittsburgh and will be facing a Steelers team still sure to be smarting after an opening week tie with the Cleveland Browns. It was a game that the Steelers looked to have well in hand before turnovers and untimely penalties gave the Browns a lifeline that they didn’t necessarily deserve. The Steelers head home in Week 2, and while the Chiefs looked good in their opener, I think they are in trouble here.

LA Rams over Arizona Cardinals

The Rams don’t open their regular season schedule until Monday night when they face the Oakland Raiders, but we still essentially know what we can expect from this group. The Rams have gone all in to build a team that should be competing for the Super Bowl this season. The Cardinals are very much in a rebuilding phase this season and were quite soundly beaten by the Redskins in Week 1. They look to be in some serious trouble again this weekend, as this one could get ugly quite quickly.
