2024 MLB Season

Outside of Paul Skenes against Corbin Burnes on Tuesday for the MLB All Star Game, there are going to be plenty of pitchers throwing over the weekend.

The Major League Baseball All Star Break is here.

No games until Friday, outside of the All Star Game.

Let’s take a look at the Top MLB Pitchers to follow for Week 16:

Writer’s Pitchers Picks for MLB Week 16

Justin Steele, Chicago Cubs

Friday, July 19th, 2024

Steele has been pretty strong this season.

Early on in the season, the 29 year old has gotten his groove back a bit as of late.

Now, Steele will look to regain the form that had him in consideration for a Cy Young award a season ago.

The lefthander from Mississippi is the Cubs first starting pitcher out of the gate.

Chicago has some catching up to do in the second half of the season.

We will see if Steele can jump start the wins.

We like Steele, and suggest keeping an eye on his start Friday!

Aaron Nola, Philadelphia Phillies

Friday, July 19th, 2024

Aaron Nola gets the start for the Phillies, who will get the Pittsburgh Pirates out of the shoot.

The Pirates will need to make a decision on when they want to throw Skenes in this series.

It may depend how long he goes Tuesday in the All Star Game.

Nola is 11-5 on the season, with a 3.38 earned run average.

The right hander has struck out 116 batters this season.

The 31 year old is going to be ready to keep the Phillies at the top of the MLB standings right out of the gates.

Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees

Friday, July 19th, 2024

The Yankees ace used his first few starts back to get him ready for the stretch run.

Now the 33 year old is ready to ramp it up and keep the Yankees in the mix in the American League East.

Cole is 2-1 on the season with a 5.40 earned run average.

That number will get better as the season goes along.

Cole gets the Tampa Bay Rays to start the second half of the season.

That game will be played in New York on Friday.

We like Cole and the Yankees on Friday!

Zach Eflin, Tampa Bay Rays

Friday, July 19th, 2024

Eflin is a professional, and will get the first start for the Rays in the second half of the season.

The 30 year old from Orlando is 5-6 on the season, with an ERA of just shy of 4.00.

Eglin will look to lead the Rays back into the mix, as they are trying to get back to the postseason.

It will be quite a climb for Tampa Bay, playing in such a talented division.

This is a big second half game to start on Friday.

Look for Eflin to be sharp as well.

Nick Pivetta, Boston Red Sox

Friday, July 19th, 2024

Pivetta gets a chance to set the tone for the Red Sox right away in the second half.

THe 31 year old is 4-6 on the season, with a 4.18.

The British Columbia native needs 12 strikeouts to reach 100.

WHile he will not get it in this game, he will get very close.

Pivetta gets the Dodgers in Los Angeles to start the second half.

We like his chances, as a solid veteran to keep the Red Sox afloat.

Look for a betting underdog here!

MLB Pitchers to Back after Week 16

Previous Betting News

Week 17 of the MLB season is underway, and while the battle for playoff spots rages on, all eyes are on the trade deadline, which is now just a week away. Teams are going to start making moves soon, with the teams out of the postseason race looking to offload players in return for prospects that might help them to rebuild and move in the right direction. While the trade deadline may be on the minds of many, we are looking ahead at the games coming this week and trying to pick out the pitchers you may want to put your money on. With that in mind, let’s look at the next few days and pick out some pitchers who might make an impact in your MLB betting odds.

MLB Top Pitchers after All-Star Break in the middle of the season | MLB Lines by MyBookie

MLB Week 16: Monday July 24 – Sunday July 30, 2023

Blake Snell

San Diego Padres | #4
Bats: Left / Throws: Left

When you look at the win/loss record of certain pitchers, the numbers don’t always tell the story. Snell heads into Tuesday night with a 6-8 record, which, at first glance, does not look great, but this is also a player who has the best ERA (2.67) in the league. What his overall record tells you is that he does not always get the run support required to rack up wins, which is no surprise given how the Padres have underwhelmed this season. That said, I think he can get the W on Tuesday night against the slumping Pittsburgh Pirates.

Zach Elfin

Tampa Bay Rays | #24
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

July has been a bit of an up and down month for Elfin, who has gone 2-2 in his 4 starts this month. The Rays in general have had a tough time of things, relinquishing the lead in the AL East to the Baltimore Orioles, a lead that looked to be safe for so long. Elfin, though, is coming off a spectacular outing against the Orioles in his last start, pitching 7 innings and surrendering 0 runs in a winning effort. That took him to 11-5 on the season, and I like him to improve on that record on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins.

Tanner Bibee

Cleveland Guardians | #61
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

It is a quiet night on Thursday, with just 4 games on the schedule, but we still have a pitcher that we like from those games. That would be Bibee, who is coming off a brilliant outing last time out. That one came in a 1-0 win over the Phillies, where Bibee pitched 7 scoreless innings before handing the ball over to the bullpen to finish the job. His overall record now sits at 6-2, with his ERA at 3.04. The Guardians have won 6 of the last 8 games he has started, so I think he is a good bet against the White Sox on Thursday.

Spencer Strider

Atlanta Braves | #99
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

As we head into the weekend, the Atlanta Braves look to maintain the best record in baseball and have a very good shot at doing so with Spencer Strider on the mound, Strider is having himself an outstanding season, sitting at 11-3 and a 3.78 ERA. While that ERA is a little higher than he would probably like, the Braves always seem to win when he is on the mound. This has been especially true of late, with Atlanta winning 8 of the last 9 games that Strider started.
