MLB Week 10: Who Will Win? Expert Picks & Predictions

MLB Week 10: Who Will Win? Expert Picks & Predictions

As always, the Thursday MLB schedule is a little lighter than we like, but the good news is that it gives us time to look ahead to the weekend, which is always jam-packed with games.

The problem that some of us have been that there are so many games to choose from that narrowing them down to a handful can be tough.

My Analysis for the Weekend MLB ATS Picks

This is why we try and do our best to help ahead of every weekend, as we look to pick out games that could prove to be good wagers against the spread. As we do every week, we will be picking out 4 games that we really like over the next few days, so let’s dive in to see if we can pick some winners.

Houston Astros over LA Angels

After something of a nightmare start to the season, the Houston Astros are beginning to head in the right direction, although they are still 7 games out of the lead in the West. This weekend, the Astros will have a divisional series against the LA Angels, who are in the cellar in the West but who are also on a 3-game winning streak. The Angels took 2 of 3 from the Astros in their earlier meeting this season, but I think we see the script flipped this weekend, starting on Friday night. The Astros have the edge in the pitching matchup on Friday, so I am on them to take this one.

Toronto Blue Jays over Oakland A’s

Neither of these teams has much of a shot at being in the Wild Card picture this season, although you do have to say that the A’s have been a little better than expected. They are both bleeding runs this season, so we can perhaps expect some fireworks over the weekend. In terms of the Friday game, we are still waiting on confirmation as to who will start for Oakland, but I do like who Toronto is sending to the mound. Chris Bassitt is playing well right now, picking up the W in his last 3 starts, as well as in 4 of his last 5.

Baltimore Orioles over Tampa Bay Rays

The Orioles came close to pulling the sweep over the Rays earlier this week, winning 2 of 3 in Baltimore. The series shifts to Tampa this weekend as the Orioles loom to close the 3 ½ game gap that the New York Yankees have built at the top of the AL East. Even with that loss to the Rays, the Orioles have still won 7 of their last 10 games. The Rays seem to have been buoyed from that win over Baltimore, as they have now won 2 in a row. The Orioles get the edge in the Saturday game by having Grayson Rodriguez (6-2, 3.28 ERA) on the mound.

Atlanta Braves over Washington Nationals

This season has not gone as expected for the Braves, as they now find themselves 8 games out of the lead in the NL East. They have gone 5-5 over their last 10 games and have a weekend series on the road against the Washington Nationals, who took 3 of 4 from the Braves in an earlier series this season. Despite all of that, I still like the Atlanta Braves to win the Sunday matchup, thanks in large part to the pitching matchup. The Braves will have Max Fried (6-2, 2.93 ERA) on the mound for this one.

Expert MLB Picks Week 9

All good things must come to an end, even if only temporarily.

After a great couple of weeks when we hit 7 of out 8 ATS weekend picks, we had a poor showing last weekend, going just 1 for 4.

My Analysis for the Weekend MLB ATS Picks

The great thing about the baseball season is that the games come thick and fast, so there are always plenty of opportunities to rebound and get back to winning ways, which is what we will be looking to do this weekend. There are some great matchups coming our way over the next few days and we have done our best to pick out the games that might deliver the results that will go in our favor. As we always do, we have selected 4 games over the coming weekend that look like good ATS bets, so let’s get right to them.

Philadelphia Phillies over St. Louis Cardinals

Friday, May 31, 6:40 PM | It may be surprising to some that the Philadelphia Phillies currently have a 6-game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East in what was expected to be a much tighter race. A big reason for the Phillies success has been their play at home, where they are a rather dominant 22-8 at this stage of the season. They have a home stand against the St. Louis Cardinals, who have suddenly come to life with 8 wins in their last 10 games. I like the Phillies with Aaron Nola (6-2, 3.04 ERA) on the mound on Friday. They have already taken 2 of 3 from the Cards this season, so let’s go for another win.

LA Dodgers over Colorado Rockies

Friday, May 31, 10:10 PM | The LA Dodgers appear to be pulling out of something of a rough patch, winning 3 in a row ahead of their weekend matchup with the Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers are 6 ½ games clear at the top of the West and well on their way to another division title, which won’t surprise anyone. The Rockies are 14 ½ games back already and could be in trouble on Friday. They will have Dakota Hudson (1-7, 5.54 ERA) on the mound. If the Dodgers get to him early, this could go south very quickly.

Atlanta Braves over Oakland As

Saturday, June 1, 4:10 PM | Things have not gone according to plan for the Braves this season, as they are 6 ½ games out of the lead in the East and without the services of Ronald Acuna Jr. for the rest of the season. The Braves are playing .500 ball over the last 10 games, but I think they have a real shot at snapping out of their slump against the As this weekend. Their best shot at a comfortable win, in my opinion, comes on Saturday, when they will have Chris Sale (8-1, 2.12 ERA) on the mound.

Toronto Blue Jays over Pittsburgh Pirates

Sunday, June 2, 1:37 PM | Neither of these two teams are having a very good season to this point, but I think the Blue Jays are a little better off than Pittsburgh at the moment. They appear to be rounding into a little bit of good form as they prepare to head into the weekend, winning 3 in a row ahead of this one. They are also hosting a Pirates team that has a losing record on the road, and while this could be a tight series, I like the Blue Jays on Sunday.
