Brewers get Burnes to Start Series

The Brewers will start the series on Monday with veteran Corbin Burnes. In game two on Tuesday, Milwaukee will send Colin Rea to the hill. Finally, to finish the series, Julio Teheran will get the nod.

Burnes has had another nice season for the Brewers, with 83 strikeouts in 83.2 innings pitched. The right-hander is 5-4 with a 3.44 earned run average. Rea has been up and down for the Brewers, with a 3-4 mark and a 4.71 earned run average. Teheran has only made four starts but allowed just 5 runs in those games.

The Brewers bats picked up four huge 8th-inning runs to come from behind and sweep the Pirates on Sunday. Milwaukee has been wildly inconsistent with the bats, as they are near the bottom in runs scored and batting average as a team.

Christian Yelich continues to put up solid numbers, as he leads the team with a .271 batting average. Rowdy Tellez is the power supply leader with 12 home runs, while Brian Anderson has 9, and 34 runs batted in.

Nelson, Tuesday’s pitcher for the Diamondbacks, is 3-4 on the season with a 5.30 earned run average. Gallen is the Arizona ace, with an 8-2 record and a 2.96 earned run average. Gallen has struck out 100 batters and walked 19 over 91 innings this season.

The Diamondbacks have seen solid starting pitching this season, as they have 26 quality starts, and opponents are hitting .254 against them. So far in 2023, the bullpen has been a little shaky but has shown signs of improvement.

Offensively, rookie Caobin Carroll continues to shine, leading the team with a .307 batting average and 15 home runs.
