MLB Betting Rangers vs. Diamondbacks Series

The Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks are set to square off in a real quick two games series at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Arizona is coming off back-to-back wins over the Padres and has moved to 64-61 on the season. Coming into Sunday, the Diamondbacks were fifth in the National League Wildcard picture, tied with Miami.

Both Arizona and Miami were just half a game behind the Cubs and Reds for that spot. For Arizona, after these two games against the Rangers, they will host the Cincinnati Reds for four before going to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers.

The Rangers are coming off getting swept at home by the Milwaukee Brewers, and things have gotten tighter in the American League West. Texas is 72-52 and just two games up on Houston and 3.5 in front of Seattle.

This series is the first of nine straight road games for the Rangers, as they head to Minnesota and New York to take on the Mets after this.

On Monday, the Rangers will get their lefthander they picked up from St. Louis at the trade deadline.

Jordan Montgomery is 8-10 on the season, with a 3.30 earned run average. The lefthander is making his 25th start and 4th with Texas. In his first three starts, he has struck out 20 batters in 18 innings.

Slade Cecconi is getting the nod for Arizona here. The 24-year-old is making just his second career start. Cecconi threw four innings on August 16th at Colorado, allowing four hits and two runs.

Jon Gray (8-6), 3.53 vs. Zac Gallen (13-5), 3.17

This should be an excellent pitching matchup. Gray is a 31-year-old right-hander that will be making his 22nd start of the season for Texas.

He is coming off back-to-back outings of seven innings, allowing a total of eight runs and just one earned run. He has been very consistent for Texas this season through the ups and downs of the season.

For Arizona, Zac Gallen, a Cy Young candidate out of the National League, will get the start.

Gallen has been the ace of the staff. In 162 innings thrown this season, Gallen has struck out 168 batters. He is coming off an appearance on August 17th at San Diego, where he allowed just three hits and a run over 6.1 innings pitched.

MLB Offensive Units

Both teams have guys that can rake on offense. The Rangers certainly have been more consistent, but the Diamondbacks can get hot quickly. Texas 2nd in all of Major League Baseball in runs scored, batting average, on-base percentage, and Slugging percentage.

Adolis Garcia leads the team with 30 home runs, and he is eight RBI shy of 100 on the season. Marcus Semien has the top batting average on the team at .278. The Rangers, in their last four losses, have scored less than three runs per game.

With seven wins in their last ten games, Arizona has started to heat up offensively as well. The Diamondbacks, over their last five wins, have scored seven runs per game. In the latest win for Arizona, Tommy Pham hit a home run and also tripled in Game 1, while Gabriel Moreno crushed a grand slam in Game 2.

Christian Walker is the top hitter for Arizona this season. Walker is hitting .274, with 28 home runs and 84 runs batted in on the season.

Solid Interleague Series

We expect this to be a great series. Both teams are in need of wins to either improve their playoff spot or get to a spot in the postseason picture. We are really looking forward to the pitching matchup on Tuesday.
