Series History

This concludes the season series with Chicago leading 2-1. They last played on Jan. 18 in Toronto and the Bulls prevailed 116-110. Nikola Vucevic had 24 points and 14 rebounds, and DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points against his former team. Coby White added 23 points to help the Bulls snap a four-game losing streak in Toronto. Why Bet on Toronto Raptors?

Playing without injured starters Jakob Poeltl, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley (all in question Tuesday), the Raptors lost their fifth game in a row Sunday, 125-125 in Atlanta as Saddiq Bey dunked in Trae Young’s miss with 1.1 seconds left. The Raptors had taken a one-point lead when a turnover in the backcourt led to a dunk by Scottie Barnes with seven seconds remaining. Barnes finished with 24 points, eight assists and four rebounds.

He has scored 20+ points in five of his last six games averaging 21.5 points, shooting .485 (47-97) from the field in that span. He has collected 29 games of 20+ points this season which is fourth most in a season by a Raptor age 22-or-younger behind Chris Bosh (48, 38) and Damon Stoudamire (37). Barnes has also now scored 10+ points in 10 fourth quarters this season which marks a career-high (recorded nine last season). He has scored 290 points in the final frame this season which is fourth best in the NBA.

“When I turned it over, I knew I was going to get a chance to help my team,” Hawks star Trae Young said. “I felt bad. I was dumb for making a mistake at the end. I should have called timeout when I didn’t have anywhere to go. It is nobody’s fault but mine.”

Young had 30 points and 12 assists as the Hawks overcame a night where they shot just 6 for 27 (22%) from 3. Atlanta finished with a 76-52 advantage in points in the paint and outrebounded the Raptors 51-46.

Jordan Nwora had 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists off the bench for the Raptors in his third game since being acquired in a trade with the Pacers. He only scored three points in his first two games with the Raptors. Toronto’s bench outscored the Hawks bench by 46 points (56-to-10) on Sunday marking the largest point differential for the Raptors since Apr. 10, 2022 at New York (+48; 55-to-7). The nine three point field goals recorded by the Raptors’ reserves against the Hawks also matched a season high (last: Nov. 19 vs. Detroit).

“When this situation arises (with three starters out), it is an opportunity for another player,” Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said of Nwora. “I look at it that way. We will try our best to compete in every game.”

Toronto enters Tuesday having dished out 25+ assists in 29 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak in the NBA and ties the Portland Trail Blazers for the second longest streak in a single-season in NBA history. The 1984-85 Los Angeles Lakers own the league record at 30 consecutive games. Toronto is shooting .500 (125-250) over the three games against the Bulls this year. Barnes is averaging 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.3 steals, while shooting 58.1% (25-43) from the field in the series.

Why Bet on Chicago Bulls?

The Bulls snapped a two-game skid on Sunday with a 104-96 win in Portland to finish a road trip while playing without the injured Zach LaVine and Patrick Williams. Neither is expected Tuesday. The Bulls, who were never able to extend their lead by more than 11 points and made just eight of 32 3-point attempts, relied on defense for the victory.

“I really thought we tried to share the ball,” Bulls coach Billy Donovan said. “I think 27 assists on the number of threes that we generated, that we just didn’t shoot the ball very well. But I give the guys credit, we hung in there defensively.”

DeMar DeRozan shot 8-of-14 from the field and 3-of-3 from to finish with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists. DeRozan’s one 3-pointer was the 500th of his career. Coby White shot 7-of-19 from the field and 0-of-1 from the foul line to finish with 15 points. White was 1-of-9 from three, but he was also responsible for a team-high nine assists. He’s shooting 28.9% from deep over the past two weeks but has scored 20 or more points in 21 games this season, a career high.

Andre Drummond (4,504) became the fifth active center and the 37th center of all-time to reach 4,500 field goals made Sunday with six against Portland. Drummond connected on 6-of-11 (.546) shots and finished with 15 points. Guard Alex Caruso has recorded one or more blocks in a career-best 13-straight games (12/30–1/28). This marks the longest such active streak in the NBA and the longest by any NBA guard or forward this season.

Chicago currently ranks tied for sixth in the NBA in steals (364), tied for 11th in steals per game (7.7) and second in total deflections (725). The Bulls are one of the best teams in the NBA in creating points off their opponents’ mistakes, ranking fourth in total points off turnovers (824) and tied for fifth in points off turnovers per game (17.5).

LaVine hasn’t played since Jan. 18 due to an ankle injury. He has now missed 21 of Chicago’s last 28 games, and the Bulls are 12-9 without him during that span. When he has been healthy, he hasn’t been as effective as he once was, as his average of 19.5 points over his 25 appearances this season is his lowest since 2017-18.

For Tuesday, Nikola Vučević has recorded a double-double in eight of his last 10 games versus the Raptors, averaging 18.3 ppg and 11.8 rpg during this stretch. DeRozan is averaging 22.7 ppg in his last 10 matchups with Toronto. The Bulls are looking to win their seventh-straight home game versus Toronto. The last time Chicago won six or more consecutive home games versus the Raptors was between the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons.

Season Series

Toronto leads 2-1. The last meeting was Feb. 28 in Toronto and the Raptors prevailed 104-98. Pascal Siakam scored 20 points, and Gary Trent Jr. had 19. Toronto had 94 field goal attempts to Chicago’s 71 and outrebounded the Bulls 47-35, including a 19-6 advantage on the offensive glass. Nikola Vucevic led the Bulls with 23 points and Zach LaVine had 17. DeMar DeRozan scored 13 points against his former team. The Bulls shot 37 for 71 overall and went 10 for 25 from 3-point range, but had 20 turnovers that led to 21 points for Toronto.

Why Bet on Chicago?

Chicago finished 10th in the East and competes in the play-in tournament for the first time. This could be the last game in a Bulls uniform for center Nikola Vucevic as he’s up for free agency. He had 51 double-doubles this season, becoming the fourth Bulls player with 50-plus double-doubles in a season (Artis Gilmore, Pau Gasol, Charles Oakley). His total is the second highest of his career (60, 2018-19).

His 24 games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds are the most by a Bulls player since 2014-15 (Gasol, 29). He is the 10th player in team history with 20-plus such games. Vucevic was the only player in the NBA this season with at least 900 rebounds and 120 three-pointers.

The Bulls are 9-5 this season when DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Vucevic each score 20 or more points in the same game. Since joining forces with the Bulls, the trio has accomplished this feat 25 times, recording an 16-9 mark across these occasions. After the All-Star break, LaVine averaged 27.0 points on 53.2% shooting (39.4% from 3) to help the Bulls secure a spot in the play-in tournament.

The Bulls (.490) were one of the best shooting teams in the NBA this season, finishing tied for third in field goal percentage. Chicago led the NBA with 24 games shooting at least .500 FG% and .800 FT% – which is also a franchise record in games of this sort in a single season. The Bulls (.809) were one of the best free-throw shooting teams this season, hitting 1,446-of-1,788 attempts, which tied for fifth in the NBA in FT%.

From Jan. 1 until the end of the regular season, the Bulls ranked first in defensive rating (110.3) and finished the season ranked fifth overall (111.5).

Why Bet on Toronto?

This could be the final game in a Raptors uniform for guards Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. as both are set to become free agents this summer. Toronto finished the regular season at 41-41, including 26-26 vs. the East and 15-15 vs. the West. It is just the second time in franchise history that the Raptors finished with a 41-41 record (last: 2007-08 season). Toronto secured a 27-14 record at home which represented the most home wins since the 2018-19 campaign where the team went 32-9.

Since the All-Star break, Toronto led the NBA in the fewest opponent field goal attempts (82.3). Toronto ranked second in fewest opponent points per game (108.6) in that span, while Chicago ranked first (107.9). The Raptors finished 31-6 this year when holding opponents to 110 points or fewer. Toronto also led the league in fewest turnovers per game (11.7) this season and finished with less than 1,000 turnovers (956) for just the second time in franchise history (959; 2007-08) in an 82-game campaign.

Toronto also led the NBA in points off turnovers per game (21.0) and recorded a +967 (1701-to-734) advantage in that category through 82 games. The Raptors hold a +23 (36-to-59) advantage in turnovers in three games against the Bulls this season. Toronto averaged a league-best 9.4 steals per game this year thanks in large part to defensive stalwart O.G. Anunoby who led the league in steals per game (1.91) and total steals (128). He became the first player in franchise history to finish as the NBA’s total steals leader.

The Raptors finished as the only team in the NBA this season to have five players average 15-or-more points (Pascal Siakam – 24.2, VanVleet – 19.3, Trent Jr. – 17.4, Anunoby – 16.8 and Scottie Barnes – 15.3). Toronto became just the second team over the last 48 years to finish the season with five players averaging 15+ points, joining the 2019-20 Raptors finished with a 19-8 record this season when six-or-more players scored in double figures and were 5-0 when seven-or-more players scored double figures.

Anunoby was one of two players in the NBA this season to record 120+ steals and 50+ blocks (joining Anthony Edwards). He is shooting .519 (139-268) from the field, including .424 (56-132) from three-point range post All-Star break. Siakam led the league in minutes per game (37.4) this season and for the second consecutive year. He was one of four players in the NBA to average 20+ points, 7+ rebounds, 5+ assists, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic & Nikola Jokic.

Among teams that reached the postseason, Toronto ranks last in points per play in half-court offense. The Raptors compensate by getting out into transition more often than anyone else.
