Cavaliers vs Clippers Best Bets, Prediction, Odds, Pick, Spread – MyBookie NBA

The late game on a light four game-NBA schedule Tuesday features two playoff teams as the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers visit the likely West Play-In-bound Los Angeles Clippers, with the Cavs as favorites on the NBA betting lines in their first meeting of the season.

A Finals’ matchup isn’t impossible. Cleveland definitely could win the Eastern Conference for the first time 2018 as it will finish with the best record in the East and thus have home-court advantage throughout those playoffs.

Spread/Total Subject to Change: Cavaliers -4.5 (total 229)
Expert Prediction: Cavs 120, Clippers 116

The Cavs, also battling Oklahoma City for the best overall record in the NBA, are +210 second-favorites behind defending NBA champion Boston in the East and +600 third-favorites to win the NBA title behind the Thunder (+175) and Celtics (+235).

As of this writing, the Clippers sit eighth in the Western Conference, and they almost surely will not slip to ninth but could get as high as sixth and avoid the Play-In entirely, but that’s not super likely with good teams Minnesota and Golden State to pass in that regard.

To make the full-field West playoffs, Los Angeles is -150 and Now is +330. That is the books expecting the Clippers to advance out of the Play-In at worst.

The First Meeting

Even though we are nearing the end of the 2024-25 NBA regular season, this marks the first meeting of the season between the Cavaliers and Clippers, with L.A. visiting Cleveland on March 30. They split last season with the Clippers, winning 120-118 at home.

Los Angeles overcame a 26-point deficit for the third-largest comeback victory in franchise history. Paul George scored 39 points and James Harden added 22 to lead the Clips.

George is of course now with the 76ers. Six Cavs were in double figures, including all five starters. Darius Garland led with 28 points.

Cavaliers Look For New Streak

Cleveland’s 15-game winning streak was snapped on Sunday in a 108-103 home loss to Orlando, as the Cavs lost for the first time since Feb. 4. They missed five shots — three by All-Star Donovan Mitchell — in the final minute. It was only Cleveland’s fifth defeat on their home floor this season.

Mitchell, back from a groin injury, scored 23 points with six rebounds and five assists. He averages 23.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in March. Allen contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds, but the Cavs fell short of a 17-game winning streak. Allen’s March stats include five double-doubles.

Cleveland was without All-Star big man Evan Mobley, as he missed just his second outing since Jan. 25 due to a right foot contusion. He’s questionable Tuesday. Coach Atkinson said the loss might not have been the worst thing ahead of a road trip.

Kenny Atkinson

“We did not have our normal ball movement tonight, got iso-heavy,” Atkinson told reporters. “And they kept us out of transition. So, I think they, again, huge credit to them. That’s their identity. But this league is humbling, and if you think you’re like, you’ve won 16 in a row, whatever, right around the corner is, obviously, this is a playoff team and a tough team to play. … I think, especially going on to this West Coast trip, like, little appropriate, you know wake-up call is not the right phrase. I just sometimes think it’s, like, okay, you know, this league is, it’s a tough league. A lot of you know, great teams out there.”

Clippers Are 6-1 In the Past 7

The Clippers won their third straight game and for the sixth time in the past seven on Sunday, routing the visiting Charlotte Hornets 123-88 in a rescheduled game from Jan. 11 due to the California wildfires – each win during this three-game run has been by at least 15 points. The Clippers took control with a 17-6 run, turning an 11-9 deficit into a 26-16 lead off a layup from James Harden with 1:43 left in the first quarter.

James Harden

Harden was terrific with 31 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, notching at least 30 points for the ninth time this season. Across his last eight contests, Harden has averaged 29.0 points, 10.0 assists, 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 3.9 three-pointers in 37.7 minutes. Kawhi Leonard added 23 points, six rebounds and five assists. Harden (four 3-pointers) and Kawhi Leonard (three 3s) combined to make more than Charlotte. Which shot 6 of 33 (18.2%) from behind the arc.

Los Angeles welcomed back leading scorer Norman Powell after his injury absence. In his return, he had a rusty performance with seven points in 23 minutes, shooting 3-for-13. Powell has recorded 35 games with 20+ points this season.

Ivica Zubac

Center Zubac is having his best season and nearly had his first career triple-double with 17 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. “The year Kawhi was out the whole year and PG missed all those games, we were just trying to generate points. So, we started posting Zu more. He got more and more comfortable,” Clippers (and former Cavs) coach Ty Lue said. “Our players trust him now.”

Cavaliers vs Clippers Expert Prediction

Donovan Mitchell of Cleveland made 211 3-pointers this season, second in Cavs history and eighth in the NBA. He is four away from 1,600 career 3-pointers and is on track to become one of six players to average at least 24 PPG under 32 MPG, with 24.2 PPG this season.

Jarrett Allen has a team-leading 37 double-doubles and is shooting a career-best .702 from the field, the 2nd-highest field-goal percentage in the NBA this season. Allen is on pace to be the only player in NBA history to finish a season shooting 70% from the field and free throw line.

Cleveland boasts an 18-3 record against Western Conference teams, with five consecutive wins, and holds a 26-6 (.813) road record, the best in the NBA. They lead the East with 122.5 points per game, nearing the 11th-highest scoring average in NBA history.

Opponents are shooting 75.3% at the free throw line against “The Wall” this season at the Clippers’ new Intuit Dome. If these stats were for a team, it would rank 28th in the NBA in free-throw percentage. It’s the fourth lowest free-throw percentage % for road teams in an arena this season. LA has held opponents under 100 points in 16 games overall this season, which is third most in the NBA. Cavs 120, Clippers 116.
