These teams played a very entertaining game on April 9 with the Knicks winning 133-129 in OT. RJ Barrett scored 20 points, making a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:15 left in overtime. Alec Burks had nine of his 19 in overtime and Julius Randle recovered from a scoreless first half to finish with 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. The Knicks had a 3-1 lead, then never led again in regulation. They were down double digits for much of the night and still trailed by 13 points midway through the fourth quarter. Ja Morant scored 26 points, and Dillon Brooks had 23 for the Grizzlies. Memphis leads the all-time series 24-23.

Why Bet on New York? | NBA Betting Lines

It’s the second of a back-to-back for the Knicks, who had no trouble in a 122-97 victory at Houston on Sunday. It was the 11th victory in 12 games for the Knicks and the seventh loss in eight games for the Rockets, who have the NBA’s worst record at 16-49.

New York also beat Houston in the first meeting this season on Feb. 13 to win the season series for the first time since 2002-03. It’s just the second win for the Knicks in Houston in 16 trips, with the last one coming on Nov. 21, 2015.

Derrick Rose tied his season-high of 24 points along with six rebounds and four assists off the bench. Rose was ultra-efficient at 8-of-11 from the field and only turned it over once as well. All-Star Julius Randle finished with 31 points, seven rebounds, six assists, a steal and four 3-pointers in 30 minutes. It’s the 13th time this season that he’s finished with 30 points or more. RJ Barrett played a team-high 40 minutes and finished withs 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The news wasn’t all good as big man Nerlens Noel left with an ankle injury that’s going to cost him at least a game or two. X-rays were negative, however. Coach Tom Thibodeau has some options other than Norvel Pelle as the backup. With Obi Toppin starting to emerge the past two weeks as a two-way force, he can switch to center and play alongside Randle.

Sixth man Alec Burks, who is out of COVID-19 protocol, was held out of Sunday’s contest but has a chance of suiting up in Memphis. The Knicks have not made Burks available for comment since his return to the team. He has missed eight straight games.

Why Bet on Memphis? | NBA Betting Lines

Memphis was upset 112-111 in Orlando on Saturday. Cole Anthony hit a contested 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds remaining. Anthony, a rookie who hit a game-winning shot earlier in the season against Minnesota, drilled the high-arching shot over the outstretched arm of Memphis guard Kyle Anderson. Memphis led by 20 points in the third quarter before Orlando’s furious rally in the fourth.

Grizzlies star Ja Morant had 22 points, seven assists, three rebounds and a block. Morant was coming off two straight underwhelming performances in which he scored a combined 18 points, but he bounced back to post his sixth game with at least 20 points across his last eight appearances. He’s averaging 23.3 points per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from deep during that eight-game stretch.

Dillon Brooks had 23 points in the loss. Brooks has now scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games and hasn’t scored fewer than 18 points in five of his last six contests. Jonas Valanciunas notched his 43rd double-double of the season with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Grayson Allen missed his second straight game with a hand injury. Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said Allen is trending toward returning by Monday. He’s listed as questionable.

Memphis is playing its final 10 games of the season over a 15-day stretch but has the league’s second-easiest strength of schedule (.408) over this period after taking on the NBA’s most-difficult strength of schedule before April 30 (.514). When the Grizzlies have an offensive rating of 119 or higher, they are 16-1 (14-27 when scoring fewer than 119 points per 100 possessions).
