On Sunday, we crowned the two conference champions for the 2022 season, and now just one game remains. The Super Bowl.
But it’s never too soon to look ahead to next year and the teams that are early NFL Betting favorites to win the AFC and NFC in 2023.
Conference Betting Favorites for 2023-24 | NFL Lines
AFC Odds
- Kansas City Chiefs (+275)
- Buffalo Bills (+325)
- Cincinnati Bengals (+450)
- Los Angeles Chargers (+1100)
- New York Jets (+1250)
- Baltimore Ravens (+1500)
- Miami Dolphins (+1500)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (+1750)
Leading the way for the AFC is the team that has won the conference in three of the last four years, the Kansas City Chiefs. This was supposed to be a re-tooling season for the Chiefs, but Patrick Mahomes is the MVP, and they are off to the Super Bowl. No reason to think they can’t do it again next year.
The preseason favorites in 2022 are paying the second shortest odds in 2023. The Bills have a number of roster issues to deal with this offseason, but with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs on the team, they are still one of the favorites to win it all.
The last of the big three in the AFC, the Bengals, are third in the 2023 conference betting odds. Joe Burrow is going to get a big contract this offseason, and that may change their roster going forward. But Burrow is still great, and this team will still be great in 2023.
The Jets are an interesting fifth place on this list. They have a great defense, but nobody knows who is going to be the quarterback in 2023. And the Jaguars, the darlings of 2022 and a participant in the Divisional Round, still only eighth in the 2023 odds.
NFC Odds
- San Francisco 49ers (+350)
- Philadelphia Eagles (+400)
- Dallas Cowboys (+650)
- Green Bay Packers (+1500)
- Detroit Lions (+1500)
- Los Angeles Rams (+1750)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2000)
- New York Giants (+2000)
The San Francisco 49ers are the favorites in the NFC as we look ahead to 2023. But which of their two young quarterbacks, Trey Lance or Brock Purdy, will be the starter is still to be determined. However, we know the defense is going to be a great going forward, even if defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans leaves for a head coaching job.
The Eagles will enter next season as the defending NFC champions and with an MVP candidate in Jalen Hurts. That’s good enough to have them just behind the 49ers in the betting odds for 2023. We’ll see if those odds change after they play the Super Bowl.
The Dallas Cowboys have parted ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, and Tony Pollard will be coming off a broken leg suffered in the playoffs. But the defense will once again be great, and there are enough weapons on offense to keep them in the mix.
Interesting to note that the Minnesota Vikings do not make the top-eight, but two other NFC North teams do, the Packers and Lions. Oddsmakers also believe the Rams will return to relevance in the new season.
