Now, down 1-0 against the underdog Dallas Stars, the prohibitive favored Tampa Bay Lightning will look to even the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Finals when Game 2 gets underway on Monday night. With both cubs going all-out for the win, let’s find out which team is offering the best betting value against their Stanley Cup odds.

Stanley Cup Finals Game 2 Analysis | NHL Betting

Why Bet On Dallas

The Stars just keep finding ways to beat teams they aren’t ‘supposed’ to beat this postseason. After shutting down Vegas, the No, 1 seed in the Western Conference, in five games, the Stars jumped all over Tampa Bay in Game 1 on Saturday by recording an emphatic 4-1 win on Saturday.

Dallas Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin continued his stellar play this postseason by stopping 35 of 36 shots attempts. Dallas went up 1-0 on Joel Hanley’s series-opening goal before Tampa Bay tied it on Yanni Gourde’s goal later in the opening period.

Jamie Oleksiak and Joel Kiviranta scored second period goals while Jason Dickinson closed out the game’s scoring by adding a third period goal. Dallas has won four straight games and six of their last seven games overall while limiting the opposition to one goal or less four times along the way.

Why Bet On Tampa Bay

Despite getting stunned in Game 1, there’s still plenty of reasons to believe the Lightning can get their act together to get past Dallas. The Lightning have won seven of their last 10 playoff games while scoring at least three goals five times during the span. Tampa Bay erupted for eight goals in their Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 matchup against the New York Islanders and can pretty much score on any team in the league after finishing the regular season ranked first in scoring (3.5 gpg).

Tampa Bay could also see captain Steven Stamkos return in this series after missing the vast majority of this season with an injury. Coach Jon Cooper said Stamkos “is inching his way closer” but declined to comment on whether Stamkos would suit up Monday’s Game 2.

“I guess there’s always a chance, but as of now, I don’t think so,” Cooper said. “But that’s why you’ve got to tune in and find out.”

Expert Analysis and Prediction

While Dallas has gone 4-0 in their last four games and 4-1 in their last five games following a win, Tampa Bay has gone  9-4 in their last 13 playoff games as a favorite.Tampa Bay has won five of the last seven meetings against Dallas and I believe they’ll win Game 2 out of sheer desperation, if nothing else.
