As the NHL Playoffs progress, the intensity becomes greater.
You need only look at the brawl that erupted in Game 2 of the Panthers/Bruins series on Wednesday night to see just how much this means to everyone involved. But for today, let’s take a look at the analysis that pertains for the games in hand: Rangers vs Hurricanes, and Avalanche vs Stars.
My Analysis
That is definitely going to be a series to keep an eye on to see if the bad blood continues. That is a conversation for another day, though, as our focus now turns to the 2 series that are back in action on Thursday night. We have been on a bit of a roll with our predictions and have now gone 4 for 4 with our picks over the past couple of nights. We hope to keep it rolling this evening, but the playoffs tend to be unpredictable, so keep that in mind before you place your NHL bets. We have a pair of huge games on tap tonight, so let’s break them down.
^New York Rangers +123 at Carolina Hurricanes -150
We head off to Carolina for Game 3 of this series, and while it is not quite do or die for the Hurricanes, it is quickly getting to that point. Every team starting on the road hopes to get a split that will give them home ice advantage, but that’s not how things went for the Hurricanes. They lost 4-3 in Game 1 and had a chance to level the series in Game 2, but it was the Rangers who won that one in double overtime.
The Hurricanes are probably happy to get out of The Big Apple and back into their own building, but they cannot afford to be too comfortable in their cozy confines. A loss in Game 3 would not see their Stanley Cup dreams come to an end, but it would certainly put them on the brink.
The Rangers al absolutely rolling right now, winning 6 in a row to start the playoffs. They made it look easy in a sweep of the Capitals in Round 1, but this has been more of a slog. The results, though, are the same, but can the Rangers make it 7 in a row? I don’t think so, as I like the Hurricanes to get one back on home ice.
Stanley Cup Bet: New York Rangers 2, Carolina Hurricanes 4 |
Colorado Avalanche +100 at Dallas Stars -123
No series is won or lost after just 1 game, but the Colorado Avalanche will be feeling a whole lot better about their chances of moving on after stealing Game 1 in Dallas with a 4-3 OT win over the Stars. The nature of that win tells you that this series looks to be tight, which is exactly how we predicted in prior to the start of Round 2.
The pressure is now squarely on the shoulders of the Dallas Stars, as they cannot really afford to go on the road down 0-2 in the series. Even if that happens, though, there will be no panic, as the Stars lost both home games to open their Round 1 series against the Vegas Golden Knights before going on to win it in 7. That is playing with fire, especially as we get deeper into the postseason and the competition gets tougher.
While the Stars can’t win back home ice advantage until they head to Colorado, they can get back in the series with a Game 2 win, which is exactly what I believe will happen.
Stanley Cup Bet: Colorado Avalanche 3, Dallas Stars 5 |
