When it comes to the Stanley Cup, bettors often fall into one of two categories. There are some who pick their winner before the season begins, while others wait to see how things play out before making their wager. In the end, it often comes down to perceived value, as the odds to win are going to change throughout the season for every single team. Knowing when to pull the trigger to maximize your winnings is a real skill when betting against the NHL Odds. For now, we are just looking at games to bet this week, so let’s get right to it.
NHL Betting | Must Wagers Games This Week (Mar. 1st – 3rd)
Calgary Flames at Minnesota Wild – Tuesday
This is the second game of a doubleheader between these teams, and you can bet that fans with no do in the fight will be hoping for a more even game this time, with the Flames winning 7-3 a couple of days ago. The Flames hit the road with a 16-10-2 record away from home, while the Wild have gone 16-4-1 in their own building. On the downside for the Wild, they are coming into this one on a 3-game losing skid, while the Flames are about as hot as it gets, winning 11 of their last 12. Will the Minnesota Wild exact revenge for their loss to Calgary, or will the Flames continue to roll?
St. Louis Blues at New York Rangers – Wednesday
In terms of the schedule, Wednesday night is a bit of a slow one, with just 4 games set to go in the NHL. It’s slim pickings for sure, but this game really stands out. The St. Louis Blues have been quietly making their way up the standings in the Central Division, and while the Avalanche look to be well out of reach, the Blues 4-game winning streak has them sitting in 2nd. Over in the Eastern Conference, the New York Rangers have cooled off a little and are losers of 2 in a row. That said, they are still in a very good position when looking at the overall playoff picture, so a sold matchup here.
Pittsburgh Penguins at Tampa Bay Lightning – Thursday
There are a couple of huge Eastern Conference games set for Thursday night and we will get to the 2nd one in a moment. The Pittsburgh Penguins have dropped out of the top spot in the Metropolitan Division, but they are winners of 2 in a row and looking to climb their way back. The Lightning, meanwhile, are winners of 4 straight and back within a single point of the lead in the Atlantic Division. This is arguably one of the most exciting looking games of the week.
Carolina Hurricanes at Washington Capitals – Thursday
The Metropolitan Division has one of the best races in the league going at the moment, with the Carolina Hurricanes currently leading the way. They are winners of 5 in a row and still have 3 games in hand to the 2nd place Pittsburgh Penguins. Carolina will be in the road to face a Washington team that had dropped off considerably of late, but who are still very much in the playoff conversation. This is one of those games that has divisional and playoff implications, so definitely one to watch and wager on.
