MLB Power Rankings Betting Analysis Heading Into Week 17 of the 2022 Season

The trade deadline is almost upon us, which means that teams in the MLB are now at the point where they are split into 3 distinct categories. There are a few who will feel that they have the squad they need to go out and win the World Series, then there are teams that are a move or two away from making a serious run. The last group are those who are long since out of contention and who may be looking to move some big-name players in an effort to start building toward next season. It’s going to be fun to watch how it al plays out, but for now, let’s take a look at the MLB Power Rankings after Week 16 of the season so you can continue making your bets against the MLB Odds.

2022 Season Week 17 Power Rankings | MLB Betting Picks

Top 5

  1. LA Dodgers – After a period where it looked like the New York Yankees would not fall out of the #1 spot, we finally saw it happen. The Dodgers are 7-3 in their last 10 games and now have just 1 less win that the Yankees.

  1. New York Yankees – What we have discovered now is that it’s impossible for a team to maintain the pace that the Yankees have been setting over the course of a 162-game season. They have been playing .500 ball of late, but still in total control of the East.

  1. Houston Astros – The Astros are continuing to cruise and making things look easy in the West, as they now have a 12-game lead at the top. They have gone 6-4 in their last 10 games and are very close in wins t the Dodgers and the Yankees.

  1. New York Mets – After faltering a little at the end of the first half, the Mets have rebounded nicely since the All-Star Break. They are 7-3 in their last 10, which includes their current 6-game win streak. They lead the NL East by 3.

  1. Atlanta Braves – The defending champs had a shot at going into the break with the division lead, but they gassed their opportunity after getting swept by the Mets. They will have a chancer to avenge that when they meet the Mats later this week.

Bottom 5

  1. Cincinnati Reds – The Reds are off the bottom of the Central Division and closed out last week with back-to back wins. That means that they are now 6-4 over their last 10 games, good enough to move up a spot in the Power Rankings this week.

  1. Pittsburgh Pirates – With the Reds on the move, the Pirates are heading in the wrong direction. They are at the bottom of the Central after losing 7 games in a row, which is also why they dropped 4 spots in Week 16.

  1. Kansas City Royals – There are no changes to the bottom 3 in the Power Rankings this week, starting with the Royals, who stay at #28. The Royals did close out Week 16 with a win, but that was enough to get them to just 4-6 in their last 10.

  1. Oakland A’s – The A’s have actually had a decent run of form of late, going 7-3 in their last 10 games. They sunk to end the week, though, losing 2 in a row, which probably stopped them from moving up a spot here.

  1. Washington Nationals – No real surprise to see the Nationals sitting on the bottom once again, as they have just 35 wins on the season.
