How They Got Here

The Edmonton Oilers, representing the Western Conference, had an impressive regular season with a 49-27-6 record, securing second place in the Pacific Division. Their path to the finals saw them defeating the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Dallas Stars.

The Florida Panthers, champions of the Atlantic Division, finished the regular season with a 52-24-6 record, bolstered by winning their last four games. Their playoff run included wins over Tampa Bay, Boston, and New York.

Betting Line for Game 2

In Game 2, the Panthers are favored at -140 on their home ice. The total goals for the game is set at 5.5.

Struggling Offense for Edmonton

Edmonton’s 3-0 defeat in Game 1 marked their first shutout loss of the postseason and their first scoreless game since April 3rd against Dallas. Despite being one of the highest-scoring teams in the NHL during the regular season, with an average of 3.56 goals and nearly 34 shots per game, the Oilers struggled to find the back of the net.

Zach Hyman led the team with 54 goals during the regular season, while Connor McDavid was exceptional, contributing 100 assists and scoring 32 goals. In the postseason, McDavid has continued his stellar performance with 31 points in 19 games, and Hyman leads with 14 goals.

Goaltender Stuart Skinner has been solid in the playoffs, posting an 11-6-0 record and a 2.47

goals-against average. Over 17 games, he has made 364 saves. The Oilers’ defense also improved throughout the season, ultimately allowing 2.88 goals per game.

Florida Showing off Dominance

Florida has been on a hot streak, extending their winning streak to four games with their Game 1 victory. Following two losses to the Rangers, the Panthers have outscored their opponents 11-5. Game 1 saw goals from Connor Verhaeghe, Evan Rodrigues, and Eetu Luostarinen, with Verhaeghe netting his 10th of the postseason.

Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov have been the Panthers’ top performers, each amassing 19 points in the playoffs. Verhaeghe follows closely with 18 points, while Sam Reinhart has 13. The Panthers’ regular-season stats show a potent offense with an average of 3.23 goals per game, and a top-tier defense allowing just 2.41 goals per game.

Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been a stud in net for the Panthers, starting all 18 postseason games and winning 13 of them. He boasts a 2.08 goals-against average in the playoffs.

Game 2 Prediction

Given their current form, the Florida Panthers are expected to maintain their momentum and secure a win in Game 2, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. The Panthers’ exceptional performance and home advantage make them the favorites, and betting on the Panthers at -140 seems prudent. Their offensive firepower and defensive toughness appear too difficult for the Oilers to fight off In the end, the Panthers’ continued dominance and overall season shows us they will extend their series lead in Game 2, continuing their impressive playoff run.

NHL 2020 Stanley Cup Finals – Game 2 Expert Analysis

Previous Betting News

Now, down 1-0 against the underdog Dallas Stars, the prohibitive favored Tampa Bay Lightning will look to even the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Finals when Game 2 gets underway on Monday night. With both cubs going all-out for the win, let’s find out which team is offering the best betting value against their Stanley Cup odds.

Stanley Cup Finals Game 2 Analysis | NHL Betting

Why Bet On Dallas

The Stars just keep finding ways to beat teams they aren’t ‘supposed’ to beat this postseason. After shutting down Vegas, the No, 1 seed in the Western Conference, in five games, the Stars jumped all over Tampa Bay in Game 1 on Saturday by recording an emphatic 4-1 win on Saturday.

Dallas Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin continued his stellar play this postseason by stopping 35 of 36 shots attempts. Dallas went up 1-0 on Joel Hanley’s series-opening goal before Tampa Bay tied it on Yanni Gourde’s goal later in the opening period.

Jamie Oleksiak and Joel Kiviranta scored second period goals while Jason Dickinson closed out the game’s scoring by adding a third period goal. Dallas has won four straight games and six of their last seven games overall while limiting the opposition to one goal or less four times along the way.

Why Bet On Tampa Bay

Despite getting stunned in Game 1, there’s still plenty of reasons to believe the Lightning can get their act together to get past Dallas. The Lightning have won seven of their last 10 playoff games while scoring at least three goals five times during the span. Tampa Bay erupted for eight goals in their Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 matchup against the New York Islanders and can pretty much score on any team in the league after finishing the regular season ranked first in scoring (3.5 gpg).

Tampa Bay could also see captain Steven Stamkos return in this series after missing the vast majority of this season with an injury. Coach Jon Cooper said Stamkos “is inching his way closer” but declined to comment on whether Stamkos would suit up Monday’s Game 2.

“I guess there’s always a chance, but as of now, I don’t think so,” Cooper said. “But that’s why you’ve got to tune in and find out.”

Expert Analysis and Prediction

While Dallas has gone 4-0 in their last four games and 4-1 in their last five games following a win, Tampa Bay has gone  9-4 in their last 13 playoff games as a favorite.Tampa Bay has won five of the last seven meetings against Dallas and I believe they’ll win Game 2 out of sheer desperation, if nothing else.

The Boston Bruins rallied to win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night and look for a 2-0 lead on Wednesday before the series shifts to St. Louis. The Bruins are favored on the NHL odds over the St. Louis Blues.

Radio: St. Louis / Boston
2019 Stanley Cup Finals Game 2 Lines: Bruins -165, Blues +150 (total 5.5)

Why Bet on St. Louis?

The Blues jumped on the Bruins for a 2-0 lead by early in the second period in Game 1 on Monday night but couldn’t hold it and lost 4-2. Brayden Schenn scored a goal and an assist in the loss. Schenn opened the scoring at the 7:23 mark of the first period.

The Blues also extended their lead to 2-0 early in the second period when Vladimir Tarasenko found the back of the net, but their play quickly dipped over the final 40 minutes. Schenn finished Game 1 with an even rating, six shots on goal and two hits in 17:55 of ice time. He now has three goals and nine points in 20 games this postseason. Schenn is now riding a three-game point streak.

Tarasenko played a part in Schenn’s opening goal, as he negated an icing by beating Zdeno Chara to a puck but he didn’t collect an assist on that play. Tarasenko then added the marker early in the second frame. The Russian winger finished Game 1 with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal and one hit in 16:15 of ice time. The 27-year-old has nine goals and 14 points in 20 postseason games. Tarasenko has now picked up at least one point in each of this last seven contests, tied for the third-longest in franchise playoff history.

Jordan Binnington allowed three goals on 37 shots. Binnington came up big throughout the second period, but he simply couldn’t keep the Bruins from taking the lead. The 25-year-old has a 12-8 record with a 2.40 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage this postseason.

Blueliner Vince Dunn (upper body) didn’t play in Game 1. Dunn is getting close to being available to play, though, according to coach Craig Berube. He was on the ice for the team’s morning skate and he was back to wearing a regular helmet. Dunn was sporting extra protection on his helmet in his previous two on-ice sessions after he took a puck to the face in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.

St. Louis is 6-24 all-time in a playoff series after trailing 1-0. One of the Blues’ six series victories in that scenario came in the 2019 Western Conference Finals against San Jose.

Why Bet on Boston?

The Bruins improved to 9-0 in nine all-time postseason contests against St. Louis. The Bruins became the third franchise in NHL history to win each of their first nine or more playoff games against one opponent – the Oilers did so against the original Jets (16-0; 1983-88) and the Canadiens also accomplished the feat against the Blues (12-0; 1968-77).

Boston’s eight-game winning streak stands as the franchise’s third-longest in a playoff year, behind a 10-0 stretch in 1970 and 9-0 streak in 1972 (both years they won the Stanley Cup). Boston has outscored opponents 32-11 during its current streak. Boston posted the 28th multi-goal comeback win in franchise playoff history – and first in the Stanley Cup Final.

Sean Kuraly scored a goal and an assist in Monday’s win. Kuraly registered the primary assist on Connor Clifton’s second-period goal and he added the game-winner early in the third frame. He finished the night with a plus-2 rating, two penalty minutes, three shots on goal and two hits in 14:21 of ice time. The 26-year-old has three goals and seven points in 14 games this postseason. Including the regular season, nine of his 21 career NHL goals have either tied the game (3) or stood as the winner (6).

Tuukka Rask turned aside 18 of 20 shots in Game 1. Rask wasn’t overly busy in the final two periods (he only faced 12 shots on goal). The Bruins netminder now owns a 13-5 record this postseason. He’ll head into Game 2 with a 1.85 goals-against-average and a .940 save percentage. His eight-game playoff winning streak is the second-longest such run by a Bruins goaltender behind only Gerry Cheevers’ 10 straight playoff victories in 1970.

Top defensemen Zdeno Chara is OK after he took a puck to the wrist in Game 1. Chara sustained a cut after he blocked a shot from Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko on the play and he immediately went to the dressing room for repairs.

Since the Stanley Cup Finals went to the best-of-seven format in 1939, the team that has won Game 1 has gone on to capture the Stanley Cup 77.2% of the time (61 of 79 series).
