Betting on NBA Today? Look at the Warriors vs Magic Odds & Prediction in the Week 19

Betting on NBA as the Golden State Warriors have taken off since they acquired All-Star Jimmy Butler in a trade, and the Dubs begin a five-game road trip through the Eastern Conference by visiting a good Orlando Magic team. The Dubs are short favorites on the NBA odds and have won the past three in the series.

On Feb. 3, the Warriors were 3.5-point home favorites against the Magic and won 104-99. Andrew Wiggins scored 25 points and Stephen Curry added 24 – Wiggins has since been traded to Miami in the Butler deal. Moses Moody added 17 points, while rookie center Quinten Post had seven points and seven rebounds for Golden State.

Warriors Surging With Jimmy Butler

Golden State looks like a Western Conference contender again since the trade deadline deal for Heat All-Star guard Jimmy Butler as the Dubs won their fourth straight game (third in a row in blowout fashion) on Tuesday, 128-92 over Charlotte despite an off game from Steph Curry, who was 6-for-14 from the field for 15 points along with six assists and four rebounds. Curry did surpass Allen Iverson for the 32nd most made field goals in NBA history.

Butler had a quiet game with six points but only played 19 minutes in the blowout. No Golden State starter played more than 24 minutes ahead of a long road trip. The Warriors scored 41 points in the third quarter to blow it open, the 11th 40-point quarter this season for the team.

Tuesday’s win was the 3,000th in Warriors history, joining the Boston Celtics (3,676), Los Angeles Lakers (3,585), Philadelphia 76ers (3,121) and New York Knicks (3,011) in that exclusive group.

The Dubs remain without one key contributor in young forward Jonathan Kuminga. He has been out since Jan. 4 due to an ankle injury and likely not back here, but is fairly close. He was on a tear before suffering the ankle injury, averaging 20.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 steals-plus-blocks in 20.3 minutes per game. Kuminga has yet to play with Butler, something that Coach Steve Kerr is looking forward to.

“I think Jimmy’s the perfect guy for JK to emulate. What makes Jimmy special is that he doesn’t try to be special. He plays fundamental basketball. The constant fundamental play, he never turns it over, just makes the simple play over and over again. I want JK to learn some of that,” Kerr said.

Magic In Bounce-Back Spot?

Orlando had a big home game on Tuesday night in a 2024 playoff rematch against Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland, and the Magic basically failed to show up in a 122-82 loss. Cleveland shot 56.3% overall and 19 for 32 from beyond the arc, while Orlando was 5-for-28 from deep. In three playoff losses in Orlando 10 months ago, the Cavs shot 24.1 % from 3-point range and averaged 89.3 points.

In Tuesday’s loss, star forward Paolo Banchero had 26 points, five rebounds and four assists. Banchero racked up 17-plus points for the 10th consecutive contest. He shot just 1-for-7 from deep, though, and has shot only 29.4 percent from outside over his last five outings. Additionally, Banchero has attempted at least 20 shots in four of his last five matchups, though he has shot only 38 percent from the field in that five-game span. Fellow star forward Franz Wagner had 19 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The Magic already were playing without starting guard Jalen Suggs, who missed a 13th straight game with a hip injury and doesn’t have a timetable to return. His starting replacement, Cole Anthony, sustained a hyperextended left knee during the third quarter and didn’t return.

Suggs has already missed more total games (23) than Wagner, who missed 20 with a torn right abdominal muscle. The guard averaged 16.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.46 steals during 28.6 minutes in 35 starts. Orlando has gone 5-7 in the past 12 games without him.

“This is something that takes time,” Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said. “It’s a constant collaboration and constant communication about what’s seen, what’s done, the body of work that’s needed, how far we can push, what more we can do,” Mosley said. “We’re not leaving any stone unturned.”

The Dubs are 4-1 SU in their past five on the road.

Since the trade to Golden State from Miami, Butler is averaging 18.0 points (45.8 FG%, 87.5 FT%), 6.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.4 steals in 29.8 minutes per game in seven appearances (all starts). The Warriors have played in 34 clutch games this season, third most in the NBA. Clutch games are games in which the score is within five in the final five minutes of the game. Golden State has a 17-17 record in them.

The Magic is 6-13 SU in its past 19 games, and the under is 5-0 in the team’s past five at home. The Magic are 14-18 this season in games decided by 10 points-or-more, but 9-6 in games decided by five points-or-less. When shooting at least 50% from the field this season, the Magic are 8-1.

Orlando is 36-35 all-time vs. Golden State during the regular season and 22-12 at home. The Magic have split the last 12 meetings with the Warriors. Prior to that, the Magic lost 11 straight meetings in the series from Dec. 31, 2013-Nov. 26, 2018. Orlando has won five of the last six meetings at home with the Warriors but lost 11 of the last 12 trips to Golden State. The most points scored by a Warriors’ player against Orlando was 51 by Curry in February 2016. Warriors 108, Magic 103.
