The Philadelphia 76ers blew a chance earlier this week to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference but could do so again Thursday with a win at Miami and some help. The Heat are officially in the East playoffs as well. The NBA odds on this game will be determined on whether Philly star Joel Embiid plays. It’s Miami’s home regular-season finale.

Philadelphia leads 2-0. They met in back-to-back games in January when Miami had limited due to Health and Safety Protocols, resulting in those two losses. Last season, Miami won the season series, 3-1, and has currently won 10 of the last 11 games in Miami against the Sixers. The Heat are 64-62 all-time versus Philadelphia during the regular season, including 41-22 in home games.
Why Bet on Philadelphia? | NBA Betting AnalysisThe Sixers played without superstar and MVP candidate Joel Embiid and saw their eight-game winning streak end Tuesday in a 103-94 loss at Indiana. Though the Sixers took an 11-point lead into the break, Indiana outscored the Sixers, 52-32, in the second half. Philadelphia scored just 13 points in the third quarter when Indiana got back into the game.
Embiid sat out with a non-COVID-19 related illness. He also has been dealing with right shoulder soreness recently and he has also been dealing with his recovery from a bone bruise in his left knee that kept him sidelined for a while. It was the 20th game he has missed this season because of injuries, sickness, and rest. He’s ranked third in the NBA is scoring (29.2 points per game), 10th in rebounds (10.7) and 11th in blocks (1.4).
Embiid has played in 71.0% of the Sixers’ 69 games this season. A player has to compete in 70% of his team’s games for his statistics qualify for league rankings. Consider him questionable for this one. The Sixers also were without Furkan Korkmaz (right ankle sprain), Matisse Thybulle (left hand soreness), and Shake Milton (right knee soreness). Mike Scott started in place of Embiid.
Ben Simmons went for 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the loss. Every time Embiid is out, Simmons gets to have a bit more freedom offensively. Simmons got to the 20-point mark for the first time since a March 23rd victory in Golden State. Simmons has averaged 13.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.8 steals across his last four games. Tobias Harris finished with a team-high 27 points, plus five rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes of play.
The Sixers’ magic number for the no. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference remains one.
Why Bet on Miami? | NBA Betting AnalysisThe Heat assured they would not be in the play-in tournament with Tuesday’s 129-121 win in Boston. The surging Heat won for the 10th time in 13 games. They have three games left in the regular season. Duncan Robinson scored eight of his 13 third-quarter points during a 17-4 spree that pushed Miami’s lead to 93-77. The Heat led by 14 entering the final quarter. Robinson ended up with 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field.
Bam Adebayo amassed 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 shooting from the line, seven boards, five assists, a game-high two blocks (tied with Evan Fournier), one steal and a plus-eight rating. Tyler Herro had one of his best games of the season with a team-high 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-7 from downtown, a game-high 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal and a plus-10 rating. Since his return from injury, Herro is averaging 20 points and six rebounds on 67 percent shooting from the field and 67 percent from 3-point range.
Heat star Jimmy Butler was inadvertently poked in the eye when he collided with Marcus Smart during the second quarter. Just before the start of the second half, he was seen telling Erik Spoelstra that he wasn’t able to see clearly and Butler didn’t play again. Herro got the start over Butler in the second half. Consider Butler questionable here.
Miami is 32-19 when Jimmy is in the team’s lineup. The Heat, predictably, have struggled mightily when Butler is not healthy and out of the lineup. He’s averaging 21 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals with a 60 percent true shooting percentage — something only Michael Jordan has ever done. Aside from Butler leading the league in steals, Miami’s defense is five points better with Butler on the floor.
