Betting Week 5 NFL Games
Fresh off a huge victory over the Buffalo Bills, Lamar Jackson leads the Ravens to Cincinnati to take on Joe Burrow and the Bengals in NFL Week 5’s top QB matchup.
Also this week, Aaron Rodgers heads to Minnesota to face off against Sam Darnold and the 4-0 Vikings.
Allen and the Bills attempt to get back on the winning track versus CJ Stroud and the Texans, and scorching Jayden Daniels and Washington host floundering Cleveland and Deshaun Watson.
Check out a list of this week’s top quarterback matchups along with QB picks.
Writer’s NFL Quarterback Picks for the Week 5 Matchups
Ravens Lamar Jackson at Bengals Joe Burrow
Sunday, October 6th, 2024
The Bengals got their first win of the season behind Joe Burrow’s 232 yards and 2 TD passes.
Cincinnati held a hot Carolina squad to 24 points.
For sure, the Ravens should be tough to beat in this.
But Baltimore’s style is likely to be to feed Derrick Henry because Cincinnati’s rush defense isn’t great, which is why Burrow is the pick to post the better stats.
NFL Week 5 QB Pick: Joe Burrow
Jets Aaron Rodgers at Vikings Sam Darnold
Sunday, October 6th, 2024
All Darnold does is throw TD passes.
Darnold is a legit NFL MVP candidate because he’s been on fire this season, passing for 932 yards and 11 TDs with just 3 interceptions.
The Vikings come off a win versus the rival Green Bay Packers at Lambeau.
Back home, Kevin O’Connell’s offense could roll versus a Jets’ defense that isn’t great versus the rush.
O’Connell will find a way to open up the offense for Darnold.
Rodgers can win any QB duel, but he looks tired and we’re only in month two.
Give the win to Darnold.
NFL Week 5 QB Pick: Sam Darnold
Bills Josh Allen at Texans CJ Stroud
Sunday, October 6th, 2024
Stroud was sensational versus the Jaguars when completing 67.5% of his passes for 345 yards and 2 TDs.
But the Texans faced a defense that almost always underperforms.
The Bills had their chances against the Ravens.
Allen got shaken up on a play before Lamar and Baltimore built a 35-10 leads.
If Josh plays, and he should, he’ll post better stats even though CJ may get the victory.
NFL Week 5 QB Pick: Josh Allen
Saints Derek Carr at Chiefs Patrick Mahomes – Monday Night
Monday, October 7th, 2024
There’s no way Derek Carr outduels Patrick Mahomes, right?
Hold off on that opinion.
Magic Mahomes has thrown for 903 yards, 6 TDs, and 5 INTs.
Carr has thrown for 824 yards, 6 TDs, and 3 interceptions.
Also, Carr is going to have all three of his starting wideouts in this while Patrick will miss Rashee Rice, his top target.
The Saints can break the losing streak while the Chiefs may suffer their first loss of the season.
Give the nod to Carr on Monday Night Football.
NFL Week 5 QB Pick: Derek Carr
Cardinals Kyler Murray at 49ers Brock Purdy
Sunday, October 6th, 2024
Murray can turn it on at any moment.
But, wow, that was a bad showing from an Arizona team facing a Washington defense that gave up 33 points to Bengals the week before.
Purdy was his usual calm and collected self in NFL Week 4, dealing 288 yards and a TD pass.
The Niners defense has begun to pick it up.
So Kyler should be in some trouble in this one.
NFL Week 5 QB Pick: Brock Purdy
Cowboys Dak Prescott at Steelers Justin Fields
Sunday, October 6th, 2024
The ColtsColts jumped out to a big lead in the 27-24 victory over the Steelers, requiring Justin Fields to respond.
He did big time when throwing for 312 yards and a TD and rushing for 55 yards and a TD.
Pittsburgh found something in that game.
The Cowboys’ run defense isn’t great, corner Caelon Carson is out, and Micah Parsons is questionable.
Dak will struggle versus the Steelers’ pass rush, which will lead to Fields winning the QB battle.
NFL Week 5 QB Pick: Justin Fields
Browns Deshaun Watson at Commanders Jayden Daniels
Sunday, October 6th, 2024
Deshaun Watson has forgotten how to play football.
He can’t run Kevin Stefanski’s offense.
It’s difficult to understand the problem.
The Browns were much better with Joe Flacco at the helm last season.
Jayden Daniels easily wins this matchups.
Even if Daniels offers underlay odds in any quarterback matchup lines, he’s the pick.
JD is a slam dunk to post better stats than Watson.
NFL Week 5 QB Pick: Jayden Daniels

NFL Rumors & News: Week 5 Schedule Changes and Bolts Name Starting QB
Previous Betting News
Lots of National Football League rumors and news this week. We’re going to start ending these articles with a list of the 3 coaches on the hottest seats in the NFL. There’s a lot to go over, so let’s get to it!
NFL Reschedules Week 5 Games
Awesome news came out Friday morning. No Tennessee Titans and no New England Patriots tested positive for COVID-19. What it means is that the National Football League can go ahead with Week 5 games that involve the Pats and Titans.
The New England Patriots take on the Denver Broncos on Monday night. Although Cam Newton won’t play and the Patriots have a ton of injuries, it will be tough for Denver to cover the +11. The Broncos’ offense faces one of the top defenses in the NFL on Oct. 12.
The Tennessee Titans host the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The matchups is a key battle in the AFC. Buffalo looks like an AFC favorite after four weeks while the Titans must prove they can come back strong after so many coronavirus positives.
Dallas may Lose OT Smith for Season
The Cowboys’ top offensive tackle, Tyron Smith, could be out for the season. That’s bad news for the Boys who have just a single victory this season. Dallas’ offense has kept them in games. The defense is atrocious, though.
If nobody can replace Smith, Dallas could be in serious jeopardy of even touching the playoffs this season. The Cowboys might want to strive for 8-8. Again, the defense is horrendous, which means any issue on offense makes the Cowboys a worse football team than they are now, and they’re not all that good at 1-3.
Chargers sticking with Herbert
The L.A. Chargers are sticking with Justin Herbert. They should. He’s got drop back quarterback skills while Tyrod Taylor has been out with an injury. Herbert has a favorable matchup this Monday night versus the Saints.
New Orleans’ secondary is the most penalized in football. The Saints can’t stop any passing attack without grabbing and pulling. It will be interesting to see if Justin can exploit New Orleans’ defense.
NFL Considering Playoff Bubble?
Supposedly, the National Football League is considering a playoff bubble. Although it sounds like a good idea, it will probably blow up in their faces. Football isn’t the same as basketball or hockey.
Teams require at least 5 days rest in between games. A bubble won’t work. The Titans’ positives have shown what can happen when you, as an individual, don’t pay attention to what you are doing. Hopefully, that’s enough of a signal to players and the league ditches the bubble idea.
Top 3 Coaches on the Hot Seat – Quinn Takes the Fire Seat
The hottest seat in the coaching carousel belongs to Atlanta Falcons’ HC Dan Quinn. It’s not that Quinn’s team doesn’t compete. They play hard. The problem is that owner Arthur Blank has spent a ton of dollars getting his team ready to win a Super Bowl. Eventually, Arthur will want to know if someone else can help the talent-laden Falcons.
Adam Gase takes up the second spot. The Jets remain the worst team in the NFL. They’re absolutely dreadful in every phase of the game. J-E-T-S are probably even last in how well they clean their uniforms. That’s how bad this team is.
The third spot belongs the Jaguars’ Doug Marrone. It’s difficult to understand why Shahid Kahn would get rid of Tom Coughlin but keep Coughlin’s handpicked coach. The Jags have some talent, like the Jets and the Falcons. Marrone hasn’t gotten the best from that talent.
Have a great weekend!

Top NFL QBs Entering Week 5 Expert Analysis

Will Seattle Seahawks superstar signal-caller Russell Wilson set a new record for most touchdown passes in a single season? Could Green Bay Packers future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers or blossoming young Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, overtake Wilson for the league lead in TD passes while helping their respective teams make deep playoff runs? Oh…and what about reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes? With Week 5 of the 2020 NFL regular season almost here, it’s time to take a fun-filled look at the league’s top five quarterbacks through four weeks. Let’s get into action so you can wager on their NFL odds.
The Top NFL Quarterbacks in The League Heading Into Week 5
No. 5 Ben Roethlisberger
Sure, the 38-year-old Roethlisberger is just 26th in passing yards, but Pittsburgh’s franchise quarterback is also 10th in quarterback rating (105.2). Big Ben has thrown seven TD passes and just one interception while completing 67.0 percent of his passes for 777 yards. While Roethlisberger’s stats aren’t nearly as eye-opening with Pittsburgh ranking eighth in rushing, make no mistake about it, Roethlisberger’s return under center has completely transformed the Steelers from a team that went a mediocre 8-8 a year ago, to a legitimate Super Bowl contender this season. Stats be damned, Roethlisberger gets my No. 5 spot on the top quarterbacks list heading into Week 5.
No. 4 Josh Allen
Now in his third season, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has quickly blossomed into one of the top quarterbacks in the league. After completing 52.8 percent of his passes as a rookie in 2018 and just 58.8 percent of his passes last season, Allen has completed a blistering 70.9 percent of his passes while ranking third in quarterback rating (122.7) and touchdown passes (12) while having thrown just one interception. Allen ranks second in passing yards per game (331.5 ypg) and has been one of the biggest reasons Buffalo is unbeaten in four games heading into Week 5.
No. 3 Patrick Mahomes
Kansas City superstar signal-caller Patrick Mahomes is fourth in quarterback rating (114.1) and tied with Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady for fourth in touchdown passes (11). Mahomes is eighth in passing yards per game (283.5 ypg) and has yet to throw a single interceptions heading into Week 5. Mahomes might be the 2018 league MVP and reigning Super Bowl MVP, but right now, he’s third in my quarterback rankings heading into Week 5.
No. 2 Aaron Rodgers
A year ago, everyone was questioning how much longer the now, 36-year-old quarterback would play after he unfurled a completely mediocre season while generally looking like an aging player that had taken a step backwards. Clearly though, that’s no longer the case with Rodgers being among the league leaders in every significant passing category there is. Green Bay’s franchise superstar leads the league in adjusted QBR (92.8) while ranking second in quarterback rating (128.4), second in touchdown passes (13) and sixth in passing yards per game (303.5 ypg). Rodgers has yet to throw an interception while tossing three TD passes or more three times in four games. Rodgers has clearly turned back the clock and gets the No. 2 spot in my quarterback rankings heading into Week 5.
No. 1 Russell Wilson
Still, just 31-years-old, Russell Wilson leads the NFL in quarterback rating (136.7) and is the only signal-caller with a figure over 128.4. Wilson has thrown a jaw-dropping 16 TD passes and just two interceptions while ranking fourth in QBR (82.8), third in passing yards per game (321.3 ypg) and first in completion percentage (75.2%). Wilson has thrown at least four TD passes three times this season and is undeniably the best deep ball passer in the NFL. More importantly, Seattle has been a perennial winner ever since drafting Wilson in 2012 and making him the starter. Seattle has never had a losing season in eight seasons while reaching the postseason seven times and winning at least one postseason game six times. While we’ve seen some outstanding quarterback play this season, for me, Russell Wilson has been the best in the business through four weeks!
