The Conference Finals are done, and the Stanley Cup Final is set.

The Florida Panthers made it out of the East for the second straight season, while the Edmonton Oilers will be representing the Western Conference.

My Analysis

It’s an exciting time for hockey fans, as we all wait to find out who will hoist what is arguably the most iconic trophy in sports. We are going to need to wait a little while for that answer, though, as Game 1 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final does not go until this coming Saturday, June 8. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how both teams got here, as well as the odds for the Finals.

Florida Panthers NHL Winner Pick +154

As mentioned earlier, this is the second straight trip to the Stanley Cup Final for the Florida Panthers, who will be looking to win it all after falling to the Las Vegas Golden Knights last season.

This trip to the Final started in rather comfortable fashion, with the Panthers winning the opening 3 games of their first round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. They won the series in 5 games, outscoring the Lightning 20-14 in the process.

The second round got off to a tougher start for the Panthers, losing Game 1 to the Bruins. They bounced back to take 3 in a row, eventually winning the series in 6 games. They outscored the Bruins 19-13 over the series.

After winning the series opener against the New York Rangers, Florida lost the next 2 before bouncing back to win 3 in a row and take the series in 6 games. They outscored the Rangers 16-12 in what was an incredibly tight series.

Edmonton Oilers NHL Winner Pick -190

Much like the Panthers, Edmonton had little trouble getting through the first round of the playoffs, taking out the LA Kings in 5 games. It was a rather lopsided affair, with Edmonton outscoring LA 23-12.

Round 2 was much more of a struggle for the Oilers, who found themselves on the brink of elimination in a 2-3 hole before winning the final 2 games to take the series in 7. The Oilers outscored Vancouver 23-19 in a very tight series.

In the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars, the Oilers found themselves in a hole once again, going down 2-1 in the series though the opening 3 games. They clicked into gear after that, though, winning 3 in a row to take the series in 6 games. They outscored the Stars 17-14 in the series.

Betting Odds for the 2024 Stanley Cup Final

Given that this is their second trip to the Stanley Cup Final in as many years, it is perhaps no real surprise that the Florida {anthers are in as the favorite to win it at odds of -129, with the Oilers at +106. It probably also matters that the Panthers won both meetings against Edmonton in the regular season. As far as the length of the series, the bookies seem to think that this will be a close one, as the shortest odds have the Panthers winning in 7 games (+430) followed by the Panthers winning in 6 games (+480).
