Updated Super Bowl Odds Heading Into Week 17 of the 2021 Season

Super Bowl LVI

  • When: Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022
  • Where: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA
  • TV / Streaming: NBC

Contenders

  • Kansas City Chiefs +330

The Chiefs blasted the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16. KC is surging, which makes them the team to beat in the AFC. The odds are light. So they remain an underlay betting wise, but there’s no doubt Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City can win the Super Bowl.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers +550

Injuries have hit Tampa Bay hard. Chris Godwin is out until 2022. Leonard Fournette won’t play the rest of the regular season. Neither will Shaquil Barrett. But the Bucs should have a favorable draw in the first round and they’re the only squad that has Tom Brady, which makes them contenders.

  • Dallas Cowboys +890

Dallas could have scored 70 points against the rival Washington Football Team in their smashing 56-14 victory. The Boys are loaded on offense. We knew that. But the defense has come together to become one of the best units in the NFL. Expect nothing but good things from Dallas in the playoffs.

  • New England Patriots +1300

New England remains on the contenders’ list even though they’ve dropped two straight. The reason is one of clarity. Bill Belichick knows what ailed this team in both losses, the inability to stop Josh Allen as a dual-threat against the Bills and the inability to stop the rush versus the Colts. So expect Mastermind Bill to fix the situation before the playoffs.

  • Indianapolis Colts +1575

Sure, Carson Wentz may have to sit out this Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. No problem. The Raiders allow 115.7 rushing yards per game, so, Jonathan Taylor should have no issue going for at least 150. Also, the offensive line and Darius Leonard should play, which means we can expect a big Colts victory that sends them to the playoffs.

  • Buffalo Bills +780

After watching what Josh Allen did to the Patriots in Week 16, it’s impossible to leave the Bills off the contenders’ list. It won’t be easy for Buffalo even if they win the AFC East. Allen, though, is one of the few quarterbacks in the league who can take over a game.

  • Tennessee Titans +1625

The Titans are a win away from taking their division. The best news is that once they make the playoffs, Derrick Henry should be ready to go. Also, Tennessee’s defense is starting to surge. The game this Sunday versus the Dolphins will tell us more. Right now, the Titans are contenders.

  • Cincinnati Bengals +2500

Although it’s hard to see Joe Burrow and the Bengals winning the Super Bowl, there’s something we must consider. Heading into Week 17, the Bengals have a 9-6 record in the deepest division, the AFC North, playing one of the league’s most difficult schedules. If things break their way, the defense holds up, and Joe Burrow continues throwing like Joe Montana, Cincinnati could win it all.

Pretenders

  • Green Bay Packers +370

The Packers barely beat a Ravens team without Lamar Jackson and a banged up secondary. Green Bay barely beat a Cleveland Browns team even though they picked off Baker Mayfield 4 times. Yes, the Packers should get home field. But they aren’t looking good to win it all.

  • Los Angeles Rams +750

The Rams looked great beating the Minnesota Vikings, but they’re likely to face the top seed during Super Wild Card Weekend. The team they face could end up the San Francisco 49ers. Then, if LAR beats the 49ers, they must travel to take on the Packers or Cowboys. Los Angeles will have too much to do in the playoffs to win the NFC.

  • Arizona Cardinals +1825

The Cardinals are a mess. Nothing is going right for AZ. Kyler Murray is playing like a second-stringer, the defense can’t stop anybody, and Kliff Kingsbury is making bad decision after bad decision. Zona is toast.
